IM=X Pilates & Fitness - 2021 Studio Interior

IM=X Pilates & Fitness

So glad I decided to try out the intro class at IM=X Pilates & Fitness. The studio is super cute…read more Inside there is a lobby area if you will which then leads to the classroom which use to be a dance studio fixed with surrounding mirrors and barre. The class utilizes the Pilates Reformer machines which was very interesting to use as a first timer but I truly enjoyed it. I have only done mat pilates before at global gyms and lemme tell ya... not the same. At. All. Karen was the instructor and she was very attentive. Looking forward to my next class.

FAYE IS AMAZING!!! I rarely (if ever?) proclaim I want to give a place 6 stars, but this is one of…read morethem. Totally worth it, do yourself a favor and buy a Pilates Reformer package and just try it! Before I tried this studio: I only recently tried Pilates on the reformer while recovering from foot surgery (so I have some special needs as I rebuild muscle and get stronger). I had gone to 4 sessions at 2 other studios before this (in LA and Austin). I was liking how I could immediately start to feel the workouts tone my body, but was on the fence about how mentally engaging and motivating the sessions were (practically the same exact routine all four times), and its too expensive to be on the fence. Then I went to Faye's Art & Soul Yoga. Her classes are always a surprise because she has a slue of exercises and really mixes it up for a great full body work out - the hour flies by. I've only gone a few weeks but I haven't been to the same class twice. She plays motivating music which I found to be joyfully unique. She promotes yoga stretches in between so even though you SWEAR you'll be sore after the workout, you really aren't. And she is super sweet to boot. I wish she could move with me out to Seattle because I don't know how I'm going to find a studio I like as much as Art & Soul Yoga :(

The Becoming Center

The Becoming Center

This review isn't so much for The Becoming Center as it is for Liz Quinlisk, a shiatsu practitioner…read morewho has a practice there. I've seen Liz on and off for several years for shiatsu massage which actually has significantly helped with my asthma. Now that I have begun my nursing career, I find shiatsu to be a great addition to help avoid muscle injury and fatigue. Liz is also a licensed physical therapist and incorporates her training and experience in PT into her shiatsu practice. Liz is down-to-earth and friendly and happy to chat with you during your session or respect your preference for silence. She doesn't use any offensive, scented oils or lotions in her practice and you get to keep your clothes on! She makes sure to check in with you to ask about pain throughout the treatment. Her fee is very reasonable in my opinion - $90 for one hour. You pay Liz directly for scheduling and payment so there is no having to deal with the Becoming Center as a middle-man. The space she uses is warm and relaxing and comfortable. I would recommend her to anyone who is interested in finding an experienced shiatsu practitioner not connected to a spa.
