I…read moreFirst visited hags records around 15 years ago when i was on a weeks holiday in new quay, i spent a couple of hours there and browsed the racks of lps my main interest being rock and rock progression.i purchased around £30 worth of vinyl records that day which included u2 / dire straits / pink floyd/be bop deluxe/ genesis etc. My second visit was some years later with a few friends of mine, once again i spent around £30 The choice of lps / cds is endless and i can say for sure if you decide to spend a few hours browseing the racks at hags records you wont be dissapointed. Give yourself a day to dedicate to the visit, the parking in lampeter is v/good and easy to find as all car parks are signposted well. Theres plenty of cafes and chippys to have a lunch break and a rest before concludeing your purchases and returning home. In short after many years of record collecting and haveing visited many vinyl record shops around the country hags is certainly top of my list as its not overpriced like some ! They are always very friendly and pleasant. The newsagent is situated at the top of the square in the centre of Dolgellau.

The prices are high, but it's a student town - and this place stocks a lot of useful books for…read morestudents. The staff range from remarkably polite, helpful and knowledgable to incoherent, grunting goths who sit there reading Lovecraft. However, if there's a book you want, there's a good chance they'll have it at a reasonable price, and it's a nice, roomy shop in a good location.

I think it's also cheaper than Sommerfield (though probably not compared to Lidl), and there is a slighty bigger range here than in the others. But here the advantages end, and I personally find Morrisons an eco-nightmare. I'm not the most super0eco-minded shopper but the amount of packaging that Morrisons seem to use for even the simplest items is really ridiculous (individually shrinkwrapped swede, anyone?) and, of the very few fruit that actually grow in the UK I would expect at least to get British apples, but I've yet to find them here. Not my favourite place - for anyone shopping in Aber I really would recommend using the other supermarkets or just shopping in town.

I found it very appealing from the outside as it has that classic record store look that you don't see so much these days, I was drawn inside to have a browse. I was surprised to find that there were some really cool records in there that I wouldn't expect to see if this store was located somewhere like Cardiff. And I was further surprised at their prices. Usually when I find a record that I've never seen anywhere else to buy before, the price reflects this and then I find myself battling my conscience as to whether I should spend that much money or not. At Andy's this was not the case. They price their records very fairly depending on their condition, rarity and age. Andy clearly knows the market and it very approachable if you want to talk about a potential purchase. To top it off, you don't even have to make the journey all the way up to north Wales as they have an online store. You can even make your own offer on items!
