My mom and I were the only people there so it was super quiet. We took a few minutes just to walk around, feel the cool breeze and stretch our legs. We didn't really explore any of the trails of which there are many. This was just a quick stop over. But I liked what I saw. It was a clena facility and perfectly secluded. I can see this being a great place to visit during more peak times. Not too peak though. I like being where others aren't.

This spot was perfect for the day of hiking, we came back to camp & prepared for the night of DarkSky (it was on & off clouds). We found a spot for DarkSky watching & we could easily come back to our camp site with minimal bother to the neighbors. We also stayed at the Kershaw-Ryan park hoping for a dark sky spot, but the lights were on all night. Plus we were in a canyon with a fun group singing until the park ranger came by. Kershaw-Ryan is pretty for hikes but Young's is great for staying.

We did the Moon Canyons and Cathedral Canyons, and honestly...why is this not on everyone's list?? For like $5 (Nevada resident win), you get access to these insane slot canyon formations that feel like you're walking through another planet. The further you go in, the better it gets, not just visually, but temperature-wise too. It was still in the 90s outside, but inside the canyons it was actually COOLER, which felt like a luxury at that point in our trip. We basically spent the whole time weaving through these super-narrow canyon passages and just being in awe the entire time. At the visitor center, we realized this is basically the thing Cathedral Gorge is known for, and it makes total sense. The slot canyons alone are worth the stop. We didn't even do much else in the park, but honestly, we didn't feel like we needed to. 10/10 recommend. Hidden gem. Easily one of the best surprises of the whole camping era so far.

Beforehand, you might want to do some research and watch current videos on IG, TikTok, or YouTube so you know what to expect. We finally made it here on SATURDAY, JUNE 6TH to escape the Vegas heat. It's an hour drive from Las Vegas, so we left at 8:15 am. We arrived at 9:15 am to a line of other cars thinking the same thing...we were already about 20 cars deep. The park opens at 10am to 6pm and it's $30/person for adults. There are about 50 parking spots inside that the workers will direct you where to park, and there are complimentary wagons to load up your belongings to bring to your picnic spot. Top priority for everyone is to cool off in the 100-foot 80 degree river, and snag a great picnic spot. Most prime picnic spots are along the river and come covered and fully equipped with a grill, tablle, chairs, and a garbage can. Restrooms are clean, and there's also a shower as well. For us, swim time in the river was OUR priority, so we packed lightly(cooler, chairs, towels, bluetooth speaker, and water flasks. We brought snacks, ice cream, and poke for lunch. Went for our first swim at about 10:30am Had a Poke Bowl lunch at about 11:15am while lots of people were still slaving away in the heat over a hot grill trying to get lunch cooked for their families. Went for a second swim at Noon. Not too many people swimming as lots of people were still eating. By the time 1-1:30pm rolled around, the river was a madhouse with all kinds of music blasting, and people just having a great time. We decided to call it a day and packed up our belongings then headed back to Vegas. A fun day was had, and yes, we plan to return. Now you know before you go!

I arrived when they opened and got a great spot along the water there. Included at the tables are bbqs and just a nice big area to relax and have a good time. Property and facilities were very clean. Staff were friendly. Water seemed clean to swim around in or get in some tubes. I would recommend this place to families or anyone that wants to get out of Vegas for the day.

But based on other reviews, this appears to be an ongoing issue. Still giving 2 stars since I think it's a good location for recreation, hunting, fishing, etc. and the RV spots won't share this issue.

Great little reservoir that they stock with trout every year. The cabins are OK they haven't been maintained that well. It's more about the experience and spending time with my boys and my dad. If you're looking for something fancy this is not the place for you. It's definitely a fisherman's paradise. The prices are very reasonable we got the "big" 2 bedroom cabin with kitchenette for $129 a night. They don't sell fishing licenses anymore but you can purchase them online with your phone. They have a full bar and a few slot machines. They have a small store that sells camping supplies, food, bait and booze. Great for a boys weekend.
