Their marketplace also has everything you need for canning- reasonably priced mason jars, pectin, beautiful fruit and recipes. The staff is ever-helpful and friendly. The prices are a great value. I can't wait to go back for raspberry picking! One of my favorite things is that they keep their website updated so you know when to expect the cucumbers to be in season and when they'll be done with raspberries. They have even sent postcards! This was not a very large farm and it is super easy to manage with plenty of blueberries for picking right into end of July still with plenty of produce. The blueberries were priced very inexpensively. Thinking about it, it was probably less than a grocery store. If I were to break it up, getting about a pint was $2, while it may be $3-4 at the grocery store which makes quite the difference. I expect blueberries to be more expensive at these farms as well, and it was a pleasant surprise. If you can, I recommend picking on a cooler day because it can take awhile, especially if you are looking to bake goods or pick many many pounds of them. There is a little shack which more produce and meats as well! There was garlic, squash, tomato, broccoli, fresh eggs and more when I went, so consider getting your groceries here too!

Freshly picked berries make store berries taste like papers, in comparison. The price is awesome. You pay 4 times the price at giant eagle. They also have produce- veggies, chicken. I bought 2 dozens of eggs. The egg yolks are rich golden in color. So different from Costco organic eggs. Some of the eggs have blue eggshells- because the animals are not carefully generically selected to mass produce. In nature, the genes naturally variate. I recommend come in early morning, apply sunscreen and bug spray. For toddlers, Plan to stay 1.5 hours at the most. They don't last long in the summer sun, which is the prime blueberry season.

This is an adorable small animal farm. Pure passions has Nigerian dwarf goats, geese, ducks,…read morealpacas, and a barn cat. We arrived with three children. There's plenty of parking for about 20 cars. There are two barns and clean restrooms. The price is reasonable at $10 per car load. The owners are very nice. They didn't just take our money and give us a map; they showed us around and then let us go off on our own. Feed is available in small buckets for $3. All the alpacas and the goats loved it. There is a small playground, basketballs and basketball hoops, and a fairy garden too. We stayed a little over an hour but would have stayed longer if it hadn't started raining. We'll be going back to visit Santa Claus next month and in the spring for goat yoga!

Over the years, she visited this establishment multiple times through school-organized field trips. Her earlier experiences seemed educational and age-appropriate, but her final visit in 8th grade was traumatizing and completely unacceptable. On her first visit, she was a young child, excited to explore history. She remembers playing with wooden toys and engaging in fun, interactive activities. It was a harmless and enjoyable experience. On her second visit in 4th grade, the experience was still fairly lighthearted--she milked cows, churned butter, and watched glassblowers at work. It seemed like a continued effort to connect children with the past in a safe and engaging way. But her third visit in 8th grade took a shocking and horrifying turn. During this "A Fugitive's Path: Escape on the Underground Railroad" experience, my sister and her classmates were: Placed in shackles and treated like slaves Forced to simulate escaping through the Underground Railroad Exposed to the sound of blank bullets being shot into the air Surrounded by the cracking of whips Yelled at and intimidated by adults playing the roles of slave catchers or owners This wasn't education--it was trauma packaged as a learning experience. As her older sibling, hearing her describe the fear, humiliation, and confusion she felt during this simulation was gut-wrenching. I cannot understand how any school district, let alone an educational institution trusted with children's development, would approve of such a psychologically scarring experience. How could you slowly build a relationship with this place over several years, only to subject children--still minors--to a reenactment of slavery that includes the sounds of gunfire and whips? What kind of message does that send? What makes anyone believe that this is appropriate or effective? Let me be very clear: no child should ever have to go through this. Teaching about the horrors of slavery is important--but traumatizing children in the process is not education. It's irresponsible and deeply damaging. To the school district and the organizers of this program: What made you think this was okay? You crossed a line that should never be crossed. You failed these students. As a sibling, I'm heartbroken. And as a community member, I'm calling for serious accountability and immediate re-evaluation of what is considered "educational." This should never happen again--to any child, in any school, anywhere. This event took place in 2013-2014 school year however her trauma is still valid in 2025!!!!!!!!

It had less variety and square footage than the free city greenhouse, Rockefeller Gardens (stellar place!). My 8 yr old's admission was a joke because she declared it was very hot and stepped outside to the front desk and gift shop within a minute of stepping inside. Honestly, children under 10 should be free with the amount of interest holding them there. There was only 1 other separate room with some bonsais and a caged chameleon that was displayed in a way that was hard to see. In mid April, many flowers/fruits still weren't in bloom or already bloomed or I don't know. The conservatory itself only gets 3 stars in my opinion but the best part is actually the outer grounds and trails. The trails were great and we got to see all sorts of birds (blue jays, mallards, Canadian geese, woodpeckers, finches, etc.), squirrels, chipmunks, deer. The small garden area surrounding the butterfly cage was cute. We also saw the world's cutest dog there that I mistook for a rabbit--a baby French bulldog.

And I wanted to embrace the fall colors. But, I wanted a path that wouldn't be muddy. I made an impromptu decision to take my son and boyfriend to Miller Nature Preserve because I knew it would be dry inside the conservatory and from what I remembered, there were some paths along the building outside. We started inside, which is amazing on its own. We paid $2 per person to go inside and experience the warm humid climate and jungle like setting. Tropical plants are everywhere, along with some cactus and bonsai trees. It's a great place to go anytime of year, but I would imagine winter months would be very enjoyable here to warm up and see some greenery. Then we walked around outside in their garden areas, which is really pretty too. Not too much to look at this time of year as everything is transitioning to winter. We were surprised to find a gravel path that went into the woods outside of the parking lot. We didn't pay attention to the map posted at the beginning of the trail, as we assumed it would be a short path. Boy, were we pleasantly surprised and very wrong! We walked through the woods for about an hour. We didn't see anyone else on the path so it was quite magical. The trees were just starting to change and the sun would peak out from the clouds occasionally. At some point the path seemed to feel like we were on someone's private property, and we were very confused, but the garden area we came across was beautiful. All sorts of cool stones, a little pond, and millstones galore. Then we somehow ended up on the trail again, which ran next to a creek. There were benches scattered about the trail as well. I never knew these trails were back there! It was an enjoyable adventure and I hope to come back soon!
