I really like this restaurant. The decor is quite simple, but that's welcome when so many of the restaurants in Cardiff are seeming to pick style over substance. Thankfully, Piazza Italia focuses very much on the food, which is delicious.
It isn't a cheap restaurant - not one that I would visit regularly as a student - but nor is it incredibly expensive. Starters range from about £4-£7 and the vegetarian mains are around £10. The meat dishes are, understably, more expensive; they are roughly £12-£14.
There is a good range of dishes, too; all of them seem more authentically Italian than the usual 'Italian' restaurants, like Bell Italia, or Pizza Express.
The service, though, is brilliant. I felt very attended to and didn't have to wait long in between ordering and receiving both my drinks and food. At the same time, I didn't feel rushed throughout my meal - one of my pet peeves. read more
