I must tell the world about my Cataract surgery experience at Physicians Surgery Center. I really did not know what to expect about the surgery or this business. My eyes at age 81 had reached the point where glasses could no longer correct my eyesight satisfactorily, so I decided to see what could be done.
On my first visit, I was assisted by one of their many professional employees who took some preliminary tests on my eyes. They also explained the surgery in both words and diagrams. I then met with Dr. Glesmann, who further answered my questions and provided more surgery details. He also explained that I had a choice of new lenses and eyedrops. I chose the standard lenses and single eyedrops. He also took some measurements of my eyes so as to select the lens size required. At this point, I was sold and made arrangements for my surgeries. I scheduled each eye surgery four weeks apart. I then met with the appropriate scheduling personnel and was given a "kit" containing several types of eye drops, an eye protector, and a pair of sunglasses for use after each surgery.
On the day of my first surgery, I used the appropriate pre-surgery eye drops, and my wife drove me to the Center. The whole procedure took about two hours, and the actual surgery was about 10-15 minutes. After the surgery, my wife drove me home, and I returned the next day for the one-day follow-up. The doctor examined my "new" eye and said that everything went well. I returned one week later for the next follow-up.
At this point, I must tell you that my "new" eye was seeing the world in a new light, which was brighter and sharper than I can remember in many years. I spent the next month anxiously waiting for my second surgery, which was exactly like the first.
I now tell my friends and anyone else who will listen that I have the eyes of a teenager. The results far exceeded my expectations. It appears that I will not need glasses for distance and computer usage. I may opt for reading glasses for small-print reading.
My overall experience at Physicians Surgery Center was wonderful. Every administrative and medical employee treated me with professionalism and kindness. Dr. Glesmann is a caring, dedicated doctor. He is both skilled and nice.
My only wish is that I had opted for this surgery years ago. I had no idea that it could make such a difference in my life. I can now enjoy my remaining years with great eyesight.
