ZERO STARS. DO NOT USE.. Absolutely atrocious. Rude customer service. Dealt with the owner directly and was appalled by the rudeness and the refusal to correct for their mistakes. They confirm bookings, take payment than change the booking to miss you on purpose. Then try to charge for another visit. They deliberately ignored correspondence and do not confirm booking changes. Their IT system and live chat does not work properly and makes communication almost impossible. read more

TL;DR: I implore you sincerely to please do not use this company. The long version: This is not one of those ranting customer reviews but a genuine plea to not encourage businesses like PHS Engineers Ltd and hopefully force them to change their ways or allow them to go out of business. The way that they operate is highly unprofessional and callous most notably from their director Adam Willis. We have had a gas heater in our warehouse stop working and naturally this is peak season for gas engineers. We sought out a number of quotes and many were either not available or unable to do this work in the time we required. PHS Engineers replied relatively quickly so we agreed. First they charged £55+vat just to attend the site to look at the job. No other company did this but we needed it done so agreed. Adam turned up and told us it would be an easy 1 day job. At this point there was no mention that we would have to get all the equipment for him to use such as access ladders/ scaffolding etc. We agreed a date for install and ordered in our heater to come in good time. This company asks for payment before they turn up - this is a MASSIVE RED FLAG as it means you are ultimately there with a gun to your head as they have your money and have no obligation at all to do the work or fulfil any promises from this point forward. On the day of install they turned up late because they had a job to do before this. No worry we thought as they said it was all easy. However, this does mean that if someone turns up not at the start of the day you are losing hours which you have ultimately paid for. The work started and they removed the heater. Then Adam said we needed some extra work because of the specifications of our heater. When we questioned this he would say things such as "Oh yeah maybe that's right" or "Hmm I would have to check that". It didn't feel like he knew this very well and had to call the manufacturer's technical department more than once to ask basic questions about the heater. In order to get our gas heater suspended from the ceiling of our warehouse required Unistrut bars as the original fixtures would not work. This is when we started to realise that we were perhaps not dealing with the best tradesperson. Adam was impressively unhelpful and made it seem like he would be doing us a massive favour to go to a unit less than 60 seconds drive from our office to get the materials required. We told him that surely as a supposed expert it would be better for him to get the parts but he was not interested at all. So I ran off to get the parts from TLC who also wondered why the engineer wasn't getting his own parts given that he should know what to get rather than rely on me. I got the parts and came back but by this time it was 4pm and Adam was clearly not bothered about completing the job. He said that due to access issues he was unable to complete the job now. Strangely the site visit he charged £55+vat for didn't flag this up but this is the MO of this company and Adam himself. His whole manner is that of a jack-the-lad character who would be more suitable flogging questionable bangers on a second hand car dealership than being in a director of company in charge of something as important as gas installations. Because of the access issues which were genuine but again should have been identified at the initial quote we had to rebook a second day. On a Friday afternoon Adam decided to tell us what he required and we had to scramble last minute to find a scaffolder to fit the appropriate structure for him to come on Monday to sort. The scaffolder who is an expert in this field and has done this before installed the scaffold to be safe and said they had done this many times before for other heater installations. This company charges £174 (inc VAT) for the first hour and then £150 for every subsequent hour. If they don't have the parts on them this rate applies while they go and get them (capped at one hour). That is £1224 a day. When I realised this I cancelled. They would not refund my deposit. I have made a complaint to Trading Standards Edit: 26/01/23 The company has today complained that I left important detail which is misleading. They have pointed out the following, which I do not contest. Carl There are 3 factual errors with your review; you canceled 1st time as not receiving a follow up confirmation of when was your allocated slot. When you advised your concerns of potential costs escalating, i advised it was rare a boiler repair takes 4 hours. I offered to cap your costs at 1 hour [no guarantee that boiler will actually be fixed within this period] Your review is misleading to actual chain of events where every attempt to reassure you of any concerns. I give you till 12 mid day today to amend or remove your review or i'll be forced to instruct a legal claim against you for damages. Please learn from my mistake. Very expensive compared to others. Charged over £650 for a few hours and no materials were used. Suggested additional new parts (circa £1,300) plus labour on top to update the system which was not needed. When the initial issue can back within a few days, phs would only come back if call out charge and hourly rate paid. Spoke with other heating engineering companies following this. The problem was sorted plus having both boilers serviced for £371. None of the suggested work by phs was needed. Only use if you want to be ripped off. read more

If you expect a safety certificate and receipt, don't trust this company. I had a gas combo boiler installed by PHS in October 2017. I contacted Adam by phone after the work had been done and asked him to sent a safety certificate and a receipt for the work. He said that he would send them within days. He did not. Over the four years since the work, I have written several emails with the same request. I did not even receive a reply until July this year. Adam said that he would "trace this back". He sent a Gas Safety Certificate a few days later, but still no receipt. Do not trust this company. Colin B read more

Avoid. They took a payment of £174 over the phone to look at my mother in laws non-working boiler but did not arrange time and date of engineer visit. 9 days after original payment taken they refuse to return the payment which she is legally entitled to. They knew my mother-in-law was without a working boiler and heating but as she said she has emergency hot water supply and a gas fire in the front room they treated as "non-emergency" and made zero effort to contact her to book an appointment after taking her money. After she made numerous phone calls and sent emails they eventually booked a 2 hour slot 6 days after original call but failed to show up. She contacted again an hour after the 2 hour slot to query and they eventually replied to say the engineer was stuck on the previous job and they would visit 3 days later- so 9 days after original phone call. She asked to cancel so she could find someone else but they refuse to return her £174.00 as they said it was an emergency and no refund within 7 days, then later stated it was non-emergency and no refund within 14 days. They have offered her a free boiler service as part of their "care package"- which presumably would have cost her more, and in any event she doesn't have a working boiler. Have reported company to Trading Standards via Citizens Advice and will continue to pursue the return of her payment. read more

Do not use this company! They're a fraud and of bad faith. Don't give out your card details. Made an emergency booking whereby they were due to attend same evening since it was an emergency. After waiting for a while, we called to see when they were due to attend, they said they can only come the next day so we cancelled the booking since we needed someone to attend the same night. They nonetheless charged me 200 pounds and are refusing to refund me! They're rude too. read more

I hired Property Heating Solutions to perform a power flush on my central heating system. They ask for payment up front. They arrived, and performed a job. I had the job independently reviewed, and the review stated that the system was still not cleaned. The water in the system was still contaminated and required a thorough clean. I was surprised. I was very shocked, and disappointed. I contacted Property Heating Solutions and told them of the results of the independent test. I invited them to return to clean the system so that my system could function. They told me the system was very dirty. I did not find this helpful and I am very disappointed after having paid a significant amount of money for a job which was not done to any satisfactory standard. I would have expected a quality report from Property Heating Solutions after they did the job. Property Heating Solutions have not returned my calls, or showed any concern at all. I do not recommend this company and will continue to purse my claim. read more
