The husband of the owner was the only one there and he showed me a little set up for husbands with 2 chairs in front of the TV he has turned on to a "guy" DYI show! And they arrange them by colour groupings making it easier to see what you might need. The Running Stitch has lots of sample projects all over the store. Many of the quilt projects are "kitted" but you can also buy the projects individually to suit your tastes. The staff is simply superb. They are helpful and can guide you from the simplest of projects to difficult projects. Whether you are a child, teen, young adult or an older person---everyone receives the respect and help they need with their projects. The store also carries a vast assortment of sewing supplies and they carry Bernina Machines (which are fabulous). A must stop on the quilting circuit of stores in Ottawa and area.

Everywhere you look, there's tactile experience to be had - LOTS of squishy yarn, some of it very affordable, like $5 or so. There's sewing stuff too, needlepoint, and some items made for demonstration and for sale. Cute Christmas window. The woman who helped me (both times I've been there) is friendly and knowledgeable. She tries hard to please!! I'm so glad there's a local yarn shop!! And now to get knitting :-) !!
