Upon arriving, I see the female owner/manager in the front eating and then look to the right and see the male owner/manager doing the same. Not a good look, go eat in the back. I've passed by this restaurant so many times because of the bad reviews. But one day saw lots of people dining outside, so I got curious & did a pick up. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the D14 with the Vietnamese meatloaf & the bean curd shrimp. So yummy, hit the spot. The charbroiled pork is good but can have too much fatty pieces sometimes. I also like their fried egg rolls. I enjoyed my meal so much that I've been back several times already for the same exact order. Lol. I really need to try their pho & other menu items next time. We received this Pho with noodles. We called the attention of the staff and asked if we can ask for a lil bit of broth since there's barely no broth when we received our order. The staff came back and told me that it'll be another $4 charge (on top of the $5+) just for the broth. I showed the bowl to the cook and he reasoned that the noodles will suck up all the broth after two minutes once you let it sit . I told him that there was barely any broth to begin with! I forgave them the last two times we ate here when I asked for no jalapeño in my banh mi since I can't take the heat and they still served me jalapeños- it's a good thing I didn't have a severe reaction- and the other time when my family and I were eating here and the kitchen staff were fighting- full on screaming at each other I front of the customers (in their own language). Egg rolls are normally served with romaine lettuce but here they give you iceberg lettuce. Spring rolls were mainly stuffed with noodles...no bean sprouts. The meat in the spring rolls were tough. They don't have mint leaves. The only time I wanted pho and it tasted nasty kinda had a old quality to it. I even put hoisin sauce to my pho and the broth still tasted gross. The banh mi was packed with meat and veggies. It was flavorful. My rice dish came with a separate box for rice which was well packed. The other was filled with fresh tomatoes&cucumbers. Also had pickled cabbage, charbroiled pork, steamed pork quiche, a baggie of shredded pork&fish sauce. Even without adding the fish sauce to my rice, the meat was soo flavorful. I had pho #B2 without tripe and my husband had the #D2 Pork chop rice plate. The pho is rated average in terms of authenticity. The soup could be more flavorful if it was cooked for a few hours longer. The soup also had an 'instant pho' powder/ paste taste. Their beef slices were too thick for my liking. I spent more energy chewing on the meat expecting they would break apart after a few bites but instead found myself swallowing big chunks of chewy meat. All of the meat in my pho soup were not tender and soft. If only they could cut their round eye steak much thinner. The brisket and tendon were served in chunks which made it really hard for me to bite through. Drinks - In the last two times I dined here, I have had to walk up to the cashier and ask for my drinks after the food came. Drinks should always come before food, right? They also serve pork noodle soups, rice dishes, vegetarian dishes, banh mi sandwiches (except for the traditional ham banh mi, I had asked if they make them unfortunately they do not) their most popular banh mi is the pork.
