Nice place in the Innsbrook area. The interior is nice but the food is better. My wife had the Grilled Shrimp Bun, #26 Lots of fresh vegetables. Nicely cooked shrimp. Good portion size. I had the Stir Fried Ginger Chicken, #36. The sauce had a nice, mild spice. The ginger had a nice presence but not overpowering. Vegetable was cut to bit size. The service was OK. Inside feels welcoming so I decided to enjoy dinner there. I ordered the Seafood Pho. The food came out quick. There was a little hiccup and my food came out wrong. We have been coming here since it opened years ago and it had been our go to Pho place. However they are under new management and the food quality has unfortunately taken a hit. The Pho Bo Kho was my go to dish but now I only got 3 pieces of pretty fatty beef and soggy noodles. We also ordered a Pho dish which also had over cooked noodles. The Boba tea came out with large ice pieces at first and was undrinkable. After fixing that issue a reorder had undercooked Boba pearls. Hope this place can fix these issues and get back to its prior higher food quality standard. read more

I ordered #11, Pho Tai Bo Vien, thinking being my first time here; I should try their pho. Whoopsie daisy... I was wrong! The broth was very sweet. I've eaten at almost all Vietnamese restaurants in town and their pho is the worst! Plus they only gave us 2 1/2 pieces of beef meatballs. ‍ We had to ask for more beansprout and basil as their portion is very small. Last night was my second visit to Phō Saigon. As before, I sat at the bar and ordered food to go. Last night's order: * 2. Two Crispy Spring Rolls, $4.50 * 11. Phō Tái Chín Bò Viên (Eye of round, brisket & meatballs), $10.25 * Bubble Tea, Taro, $5 Jack, my server, put the Bubble Tea on the counter and I began sipping it. By the time I got home (~38 mile trip), it was gone. It was a bit on the weak side, but I enjoyed every sip. At home, I went for the Crispy Spring Rolls while they were still warm. Not the best CSRs I've had, but still quite good with Fish Sauce. I'll repeat the CSRs every time I return. Phō time. Most Vietnamese bistros package Phō in a quart cylinder for the liquid, and a clamshell for the solids. Phō Saigon, however, packages the solids in a circular tub approximately 3" high and 7" diameter. On one hand, this makes carryout easier, and also preserves the heat better than would a clamshell. The downside is that when assembling my Phō in a soup bowl, I need to root through the plastic tub to find the specific ingredient that I'm looking for. On the whole, however, I think I prefer the tub for the solids. The Phō was wonderful. It lasted me for about three hours. Included with the solids in the the tub was a packet of Hoisin Sauce, and a packet of Sriracha Sauce. The Sriracha was not needed (by me) because the solids included a few slices of Jalapeño Pepper. And one packet of Hoisin is not enough. Thankfully, I had my own Hoisin in my fridge. All in all, a +ive experience that I want to repeat. Can't go wrong with a pho fix on a chilly Friday night. If you don't want to go into the city and have a really solid, affordable meal this is your place. Yummy bao dumplings (5 per order) with dipping sauce, and tons of great soup options. We all went with versions of the beef, brisket, beef ball, omasa with all the fixing. They make their own chili crisp oil which is AWESOME! the owner wouldn't give me his secret recipe which I totally respect, they could sell it in jars to go and I guarantee people would buy. read more

Just had take out. I had the seafood pho and spouse had the beef pho. The broth for both was the same. Packed the soup separately from the Soup filling. Everything was included. This little gem is a must visit again and again vietnamese resturaunt, Spring rolls were excellent, and even so they did have tripe the pho was sooooo good. I was visiting from out of town with my best friend and we decided check out this restaurant. It wasn't busy at all which was surprising because the food and service was amazing. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure that we had everything that we needed. She also made recommendations which was appreciated. I ordered ginger chicken with broccoli, carrots, onions and jasmine rice. It was so yummy! Also, the manager was kind enough to come and have a conversation with us. Very personable. This used to be my favorite Pho spot when I lived here. In town for work, I was so excited to get inside and find only a group of three in the restaurant. I was seated and order taken, Morse customers arrived and were seated behind and after me. Time passed and I never received my drink. I waited as the waitress who looked to be the only one, served each customer after me. Time came and went as she ushered out each dish to all the customers while I continued to wait for my drink. Since my discovery of pho a few years back, I've been trying it at a bunch of places. The West End thankfully delivers in bountiful pho bunches, and when Pho So 1 was closed on a Tuesday, we had to find somewhere else. Pho Saigon was quite the good find! --Food: The first time we went, I got my normal Pho Tai Chin (Steak and Brisket) and my fiancee got Pho Ga (Chicken). She commented on how the chicken was cut in strips and that it was better than the other places she has had it. I thought the whole bowl was pretty tasty, and there were plenty of noodles. I will say that the broth is a little sweeter and less spicy (as in cinnamon and star anise) than some of the other places, but with the proper balancing of heat with Sriracha mixed with lime and basil, it ended up being a delicious dish. She also got Bubble Tea, which was the frozen slush variety, and she said it was good. The difference in flavor makes sense as they stress that the menu they have "showcases a blend of flavors and textures unique to the Dong Nai region of southeast Vietnam". It definitely tastes like pho broth, but there are distinct flavor profile changes, mostly for the sweeter side, but delicious all the same. Just don't expect Pho So 1's cinnamon rich, super savory broth and give Pho Saigon's a chance. The second time I went I got Oxtail Pho, partially because I've seen people rave about it on here and partially because I've never tried it before. First things first; the actual meat is really, really good. It's a flavor of beef I haven't had before, and it's super tasty. Second things second; I'm not really sure how to eat it. There are portions of meat on the actual oxtail bone, but there is a lot of bone and fat around it, and that's just really not my style. I still say try it as it's tasty, but I don't believe I'll get it again. They have plenty of other specials that I haven't seen anywhere else, like Seafood Pho, and will probably try these eventually. --Cost: A few dollars more than the other pho places, so instead of $7-$8 a bowl, you'll be paying closer to $10-$11 (or more for the specialty things). It's not outrageous, but it's more expensive. --Service: The staff don't talk much, but they've been polite both times we've went. Pho takes a bit longer to be delivered here (~10 minutes as opposed to less than 5 at Pho So 1), but it's not a deal breaker. --Atmosphere: The layout of the interior is very welcoming. It feels like a small noodle house and the dimmed lighting is really great, especially in the evening. I really enjoy the feeling here more than any other pho place in the area. One downside is that the floor was a little sticky both times. Meh. Tables were clean and the place doesn't feel dirty. --Overall: I'm torn between a 4 and a 5. Definite pros are varieties of pho, the broth as a whole, and the cozy interior. The main con is slight overpricing compared to competitors in the area. I really like Pho Saigon and will definitely come back, but whether it's my favorite over a couple other locals is debatable. read more

It was a cloudy and cold Saturday, so we decided to venture out for lunch. What to eat on a cold day? Pho, of course. The restaurant is decorated nicely and is somewhat small. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and sat at a table by the window. The waiter took our drink order: Vietnamese iced coffee, a bourbon barrel beer, Tiger beer and water all around. For appetizers, I got the soft spring rolls, and my husband and daughter got the crispy spring rolls. The soft spring roll was just okay. The rice paper was super thick and chewy and the dipping sauce was a peanut sauce that, to me basically tasted like peanut butter. I tried to doctor it with hoisin and chili sauce, which helped. Still, I wouldn't order these again. The crispy spring rolls on the other hand were good. The dipping sauce was too sweet and didn't have that balance of salty, sweet and tart. For entrees my husband got the oxtail pho and it was excellent. My daughter had the pho ga, which was also very good. I opted for the chicken noodle salad. It was okay, but had the same overly sweet dressing that comes with the crispy spring rolls. I added lime and chili sauce to balance the sugar. The chicken was grilled and had an overly charred flavor that was fine at first but became sort of overwhelming as I continued to eat. If you eat here stick with the pho. I think next time I'll go a few extra miles down Broad Street to Mekong. read more

After receiving our food, we discovered that all of their food is inundated with black pepper. I am very allergic to black pepper and didn't know this and after putting the chicken in my pho I had a significant allergic reaction. We also got the vegetarian spring rolls, which were covered in black pepper. Thank gosh my daughter noticed before I ate any. After notifying the restaurant that this was not listed in the ingredients, they acknowledged that it was not listed. I have eaten pho from many other pho restaurants where there is never been an issue with black pepper. They apologized said they would put it on their ingredient list, but did not offer us a refund or anything for food we had to throw away and could not eat and spent gas to drive to the restaurant to pick it up. So many people suggested the oxtail pho that I had to go there. When ordering the owner suggested another item - I think #10 but not really sure. He said get oxtail next time. This item he said you can't get anywhere else and people come from DC and Norfolk just to order this dish. He said this special broth has an extra ginger flavor to it. Not much help but ask for it and you won't go wrong. It was phenomenal! The broth was unique to any pho I've ever had and cleaned my entire bowl- which rarely happens. But it was THAT good.
