We tried Pho Ha Noi in Milpitas today and I am in two minds whether to give it four stars or three. Maybe 3.5? Let's start with the ambience - instantly welcoming and gorgeous interiors. They've put a lot of thought into this. Full marks there. Service? Fantastic. Hoang was at our table immediately. He was friendly and prompt with the order, patient throughout the ordering process and I think the food was at our table before we could blink! LOL. So full marks there too. We shared a Chicken Thigh Pho and for appetizers we had the Crab Rolls. I wanted to try the egg noodles in the Pho but the regular noodle was the only option left. Next hiccup was the soup temperature. I was expecting it to be hot but it was borderline lukewarm. So that put me off a little. The Pho itself was delicious, though. The broth was flavorful especially with the sauces, the chicken was tender, the noodles were well cooked. So 4/5 on the Pho. The crab appetizer was a big let-down for us. It was way too oily and even flavor-wise it was just okay. So that was a bummer. The restaurant has 5 different locations across the Bay area so I am sure I'll give it another try. The service staff weren't friendly at the time and I honestly think it was just because they felt the need to rush. I love the tropical vibe of the restaurant and that they keep it pretty clean. I appreciate that they provide new butcher paper for every table. The utensils and flatware were not oily or greasy like in other pho restaurants. First hot sauce and hoisin sauce were not at each table. We were given a small bowl of both sauce but really, do I need to ask for 5-8 bowls because what we were given was definitely not enough. My sister and i like our broth spicy. We did ask for more hot sauce but we were given a small side (squirt) of hot sauce and hoisin sauce which we did not even touch. The appetizer came after our pho which was ok. The imperial egg rolls are crispy and pretty good but 2 for one piece of lettuce sort of put me off. I don't remember what my sister ordered but I ordered the pho dac biet. The bowl had generous amounts of meat and it was tender. I did opt for fresh noodles. The broth lacked depth and beefy flavor. We go to this location because it's easier to park than the Cupertino location. This place has plenty of seating, although there can be a wait on weekends. Located near the Great Mall, this restaurant is in a strip plaza off of Abel between Montague Expressway and Tasman. Soup and rice dishes are tasty and consistent each time we visit. Food: we had the monthly special beef pho. The one I ordered is Pho with 8 Oz of rib and raw steak. The meat was nice and tender and the soup is flavorful as well. Don't recommend to people who don't prefer bones even the meat texture is soft and the bone comes off easily. Service: we were at a sofa and chair combination seating area. The sofa wasn't wiped thoroughly and even we got their attention, it was a not taken care well so I still needed to wipe it again. Pho Ha Noi is OK! It's very popular, even on a weekday for lunch - I feel that it's always packed. Some of my friends love it, but it's just average in my opinion. Broth isn't mind blowing and the portion sizes are on the smaller side, but the meat that they use is very good. I wish they would be more generous with noodles and even condiments (barely a handful of bean sprouts, basils, and tiny dip cup of siracha/hoisin sauce). My other gripe is that they always seem to be out of something. My last visit, they were "out" of bun bo hue at 12:30pm...seems unlikely! But it's tough when you have a craving for a certain dish and it is not available so you have to settle for something else. Anyways service is great though. Restaurant is clean inside and nicely laid out but the parking lot is a mess. It's in an oddly shaped strip mall and the spaces are EXTRA TINY. The overall experience was extremely disappointing. Me and my friend got there right as they opened at 5pm, and I asked for cilantro in my pho and they said they had ran out for the day. But the restaurant just opened... I also saw another review that said this branch has a lack of ingredients. We both got P4 which was brisket and flank pho and there was only one piece of brisket and 80% noodles. The broth was also super salty. I picked regular noodles and when it came out there was a mixture between fresh (thicker cut noodles) and the regular one. The staff does not make rounds and fill water at all. During the whole experience they only filled our water once and it was because I had asked them. They never came to check up on any tables, we thought it was just us but when we observed around, they were not attentive in general. At other pho places they usually ask me how the food is and if I need anything etc.. But here we only saw our server when they sat us down. This is the latest of the fast-growing mom-and-pop pho shop. When you walk in you'll be stunned by the classy floral and imperial interior. With this much attention to the look, which pho places are rarely known for, my expectations went up. I've been to one of the other Pho Ha Noi locations in Little Saigon, and while it's good, it's not a go-to, and I left this place with the same overall conclusion. First up, I had the spring rolls in pretty much every fresh form. They were undeniably beautiful and I also came away impressed with the flavor of each along with the different sauces. There was pork, Vietnamese sausage, and shrimp, and I appreciated each variation. The pho was fine. I wasn't crazy about it. The main reason I came away disappointed was because I thought I knew what I wasn't a fan of with the other bowls I've had at other Pho Ha Noi locations. They typically over sprinkle green onions into the bowl, so I asked for less. I couldn't tell if what I had was better, but I just wasn't crazy with both the broth nor the noodles. 5 stars for the crispy sticky rice chicken! Get the crispy sticky rice chicken (S4). It's so good! The menu does say that there is a 10 min wait to make this dish though. And make sure to ask for extra sauce cuz the rice can be bland without sauce The pho is fine. Kim long is better but they also ran out of fresh noodles so I can't speak on that. The pho came out super quickly and they provide you with a small saucer of hoisin and sriracha (although the sriracha was a very orange-colored version). This was my second time here and what was fun is they had an autumn specials menu. Been to a few Pho Ha Noi locations and this one is the closest to my house. They seem to be the same. Haven't had the BBH yet until today. It's pretty in taste and lots of meat for the ribs. They only have 1 option for BBH so it's not the typical BBH you would get at other places. It's not as spicy as I like it but you can ask for more Sate. I like coming here because it is clean, spacious, and service is great. I went to the original location and this one is better in terms of ambience and service. They get pretty busy even with a line up right before opening for dinner but the restaurant is huge so seating shouldn't be a problem especially with large groups. The pho bowl is pretty big and it's only one size. The broth is light and not greasy as some other places. I also ordered the fried lemongrass chicken wings. They tasted great but looked weird, long and skinny and sad to say not much meat in it. I'd like to see a chicken cutlet rice option and not just pork like some of the other restaurants. The service is top notch AND the food is better! They are also consistent with the preparation of their broth which is a huge plus. I ordered: P2 Beef pho- their beef is amazing which makes their broth amazing. Crab imperial rolls- yummy and crispy Whole steamed chicken- the meat mouthfeel is really good. Super juicy and moist, glistening with just the right amount of fat. Start with a good chicken- then prepare it well- and you can't go wrong. A+ By far, service here is amazing. Danny was my server today. He was attentive and very friendly. Like genuinely friendly. He made the whole eating experience very lovely, checking in with me, bringing me extra mint I requested for my crab imperial rolls, and bringing me extra sauce and Togo containers for my steamed chicken. I also noticed he kept busy during his downtime/ constantly checking everyone's waters and refilling them, while organizing the waitstaff station. It's almost there for me, like 3.5 overall - and ofc I'm being a bit tough bc the OG Vietnam Town location still slaps so much harder... AND to be honest, I'd prob. end up driving there if I'm already heading through Milpitas (ALTHOUGH the parking situation might make me reconsider LOL). This location is newer and located in a smaller plaza, which I actually like since it's less busy. Although parking can also get a bit complicated here now. Regardless - this location is much more larger, cleaner, calmer, and just easy overall. Staff is super nice and very attentive as well and there's usually not a crazy wait/line. Now, in the end - it really then just comes down to the food - so let's break it down: (1) Imperial rolls app - good overall, it's a mixture of crab and pork meat with a prominent seafood taste which I like personally but others in my party did not. The exterior is nice/crispy & it does come with all the great herbs/noodz for an epic lettuce wrap + dip. (2) Crispy Chicken and rice - the honey roasted chicken is AMAZING here! Actually more crispy than the OG location. Flavor is lightly sweet and savory, while the rice is super crunchy as well (personally prefer the tomato rice instead). (3) Beef Pho - this was what fell a little short overall and sadly one of the main reasons I come to Pho Ha Noi. The broth flavor was a bit lighter compared to the other place, although the amount of herbs were the same which I loved (esp. green onions). I've gotten both regular noodles and fresh noodles here and both times were just overcooked and way too soft - def. wasn't good texture. (4) Egg Coffee - tasty overall and would order again, the coffee was strong which I liked but there was just a bit too much egg/cream. Overall - I would def. go back if around the area. It seems likely that the restaurant has improved since I've been there, which was from grand opening months. read more

It had a weird sour taste that made me wonder if it was leftover from the day before. It didn't taste fresh at all. I didn't want to waste food, so I just took it to go, but it definitely wasn't enjoyable. Also worth noting the dining area was empty when I arrived, which I probably should've taken as a sign. The tip I left was for the lady who took my order and was genuinely helpful not because of the food. Glad we thought of this spot as we had this before and wanted to try their special dishes that weren't typically pho or noodle related. Pho Ha Noi is located across the pines neighborhood in Milpitas and doesn't offer much parking. However, the inside of pho Ha Noi easily seats over 50+. So you can expect this place to be super busy. Upon entering, the decor and ambience is super nice: it has a very well place plant structure in the middle, and a cafe feel on the left upon entering. There's plenty of room and the bathrooms were clean as well! We ordered the tomato fried rice with chicken, pork vermicelli noodle, and the fish sauce chicken wings. The tomato fried rice is super tasty with the chicken being extra tender and crispy skin. The vermicelli noodle dish was fine as it's typically found in other Vietnamese restaurants. Finally, the fish sauce chicken wings is to die for as the fish sauce makes the chicken wings extra savory, salty, and extra crispy with the way they fried it.
