Came here on a whim because I've had Pho Season & Pho Pho one too many times. But sadly, 'twas a mistake. Soup is super bland compared to both of the above two mentioned Pho restaurants. Definitely watered down. The meat quality was also disappointing, not tender at all. Way too much noodles - noodle to meat ratio is like 5:1. Egg rolls were the best of the night. I actually enjoyed them! Plenty of veggies/ingredients, tasted juicy and perfectly crunchy outside. If i ever came back, it would be to order the egg rolls, perhaps for lunch... We will never be back. Sorry.. Had late lunch here and it was somewhat a red flag when we sat down and realized it wasn't going to be an authentic Vietnamese Pho restaurant. I wanted to order a veggie pho. Nope!!! No veggie? What in the world! Are you kidding me? They only served plain tofu. Just tofu no veggie with tofu. Just plain tofu with noodles. In any Vietnamese pho place, there's always a veggie option WITH tofu! Unbelievable! The waitress says, oh there's a plate of veggies that come with it (she was referring to the bean sprouts and jalapeño, etc.) that usually come with the pho soup. Oh I was so irritated!!! I just gave up... Ooook fine tofu. Here come my tofu... Looked like a pool of croutons in my bowl! (Photo) What in the world! Miserable!!!! Then the plate of usual "veggie" bean sprouts, jalapeño and what the heck??! Parsley? Where's the mint leaves?? Im from la and this is my fav Pho spot up to date. The servers are super sweet, there's a good amount of seating, and very good portion. I came on a Sunday night and it was super busy so I'm assuming lots of ppl feel the same about this restaurant. Def come check it out. So worth it. read more

3.5 stars. The pho doesn't taste 100% authentic, but it's definitely passable. But every time I come here, I can't help but think that I've had much better pho in Westminster. I love their noodle consistency and the fact that their broth is not salty. Service is whatevers. They have that vibe where it's like, "Order, eat, and get out." Korean family owned Vietnamese fusion spot. We were in the area and wanted some Pho. Walked in we were seated quickly. I ordered a classic Pho #3 on the menu sans the rare brisket. It comes with tendon which I happen to love in Pho. Let me tell you how ridiculously good this tendon was and large chunks of it too here. The pho broth was light in flavor and wasn't too heavy and rich. That tells me the bones cooked down to make he broth weren't boiled long enough. However, the taste was good. At least it wasn't bland. Noodles were plenty inside and cooked right. We also got to try the BBQ pork sandwich (banh mi). It was not bad. The bread wasn't your typical crunchy French baguette at any real Vietnamese joint. But it was delicious none the less. We also shared a 2 piece of what had to be the best pork egg rolls I had ever had. They were juicy inside, crunchy outside. Flavors were spot on. We wrapped them in lettuce as you should and dipped it into the Nuac Cham sauce (seasoned Vietnamese fish sauce). That sauce really gave the rolls a burst of flavor. Service was kind and quick. It's a strange feeling coming to Honolulu Ave after the Farmers Market has packed up for the day, but it means no waiting for the restaurant de jure. The thing about pho22, is that the vibe is very "cafeteria-like". I walked in, got seated, ordered my thin-sliced beef brisket large bowl for $8.99 inc tax... and I was served before I could even break apart my chopsticks. And then I never heard from my server again, until I flagged him down for the bill. The portion of bean sprouts and limes was "ok", but personally I don't like hot cilantro so I left that untouched. The raw jalepeno was good and crisp. The basil however, I love to get a fat wad of basil and instead you can see from my photo I got a spindley stem. I made up for it in copious amounts of chili garlic Sriracha, until I am I visibly sweating at my table. Bring me extra napkins so I can wipe my brow. Recommended when you can't or don't want to drive far; in and out for a quick lunch. I'm sure ethno-purists will carp there's something better in Alhambra or SGV, but we in La Crescenta here, and hot soup is very satisfying on a dreary day. read more

Meeeeeeh sums it up appropriately. I walked in and spoke Vietnamese to the man at the counter and when he looked at me with CRAZY EYES, I knew I was in for a sub-par meal. I think the family who runs this place is Korean, which is fine if they got all the food right! I ordered goi cuon (summer rolls), a vietnamese iced coffee, and bun thit nuong (vermicelli) and all of it was pretty underwhelming. The cuon was lacking in flavor and had too much lettuce inside. They did a decent job of the peanut sauce though. The bun actually had all the right incredients -- lettuce, cucumber, carrots, daikon, bean sprouts and meat with nuoc mam, but the sauce lacked major flavor, the beef was a cheap quality/underseasoned/kind of grey and the veggies weren't pickled (my absolute FAVORITE part). Been going to this place for a couple of years now. Service has always been so-so. Over the years, they have gotten used to non Vietnamese customers going in and asking questions. Pho was always acceptable, but not the best. I even accepted the 20% price increase a year or so ago; but watered down pho broke the camel's back. We went back last week for dinner and their pho was watered down and the chicken meat was about half of what we used to get in the past. They either changed their chef or their rent has increased. I think we can all agree that Pho 22 is not the best place for pho, but it'll suffice as a quick fix when you're not in the mood to drive out of a 5 mile radius from your home. It's actually kind of amazing how every time I come here, it's always poppin. People need their pho. A small bowl of pho is about $6-7. It's aight. Nothing too great about it, nothing too sucky about it. Chicken vermicelli is about $7-8. And it's BAD. Don't get it. Suuuuper dry, toppings suck, chicken is not cooked well, and the list goes on. Definitely learned my lesson to stick with pho. And when you come here, wear clothes that you're going to wash. That pho smell will go home with you. read more

I personally grew up eating pho here so it's part of my childhood. It's always nice to go back and get my pho fix. I always get a kids meal because a small is usually too much. Trust me the kids meal is pretty filling. 1. No. 1 Kids meal pho ($6.95): comes with plain pho with one strip of meat, one egg roll on the side, and apple juice or fruit punch. I love that they offer the kids to adults too although there's an age limit on the menu. The pho is great if you add in a lot of cilantro and sriracha and hoison sauce. I think pho 22 is way better than pho season. Pho season puts in way too much MSG. I know all pho restaurants do, but pho season is on another level. read more

I was strolling down Honolulu at and I came across this little jewel. The taste is amazing, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is genuinely Vietnamese. Personally, I enjoy more when a place is more traditional and genuine. If you're expecting fancy restaurant dinner customer service, this is not the place to go. TLDR: not impressed, better options within 15 mile radius. Food: I got the large combo pho. In my opinion, the problem with their pho is that the broth is not strong. Noodles are whatever, and even the meat is standard across restaurants to a certain regard because it's all thrown in with the soup to cook anyway. I am typically a quantity over quality person, but you can only throw so many noodles in, and there was not really all that much meat, certainly not $8 worth, which I would ballpark as the supposed value considering all the other ingredients. I would not consider the absence of flavour to be the same thing as it being "light on the palette," which some people prefer (aka not super greasy); a fine English cake is "light on the palette." The soup is "light on flavour." I've had stronger soups from instant ramen packets. Also, where's the basil? Some people can't eat cilantro, just fyi. Price: It's probably a little much to say that it's overpriced, but I have gotten comparable portions for $2-3 less. I'm typically not a fan when I see a number above '9' in front of that decimal point, particularly when it doesn't knock your socks off. Saying it's cheaper than other places around isn't saying much when this is Montrose that we're talking about... Parking: Most parking in Montrose is in two lots, one on each side of the main street. May not be good on weekends or around holidays. Street parking is not impossible but is entirely by chance. read more

I used to come here from time to time back when I was in high school & college, and I was surprised to find that the pho still tasted pretty good after all these years! I always get the #6 here which is the Pho w/ Rare Steak & Brisket Point ('chadol' if you're familiar with KBBQ) and the meat is always nice & tender. The reason why I like their pho here is because it has a nice, clean refreshing taste and the soup isn't greasy. They also give you a lot of meat. I skimmed through a couple of reviews and I don't understand why people think this place is overpriced. $8.99 for a meal? That's very hard to find, especially when the average price for pho in k-town is around $10~12. I also recommend the summer roll! There aren't many places where they also put meat in it! The restaurant isn't that big so expect there to be a wait, especially on a cold night. Street parking is plentiful and there is also a private lot nearby. Five star food for Non MSG based soup! I tried many Pho's in LA. I enjoyed them most, but my problem with Pho's comes many hours after I enjoy them. I always found myself drinking tons of water at night, because of the soup is loaded with MSG. I found out almost all pho places use lots of MSGs in their soup. Finally, I found the pho22, the clean natural taste! No more waking up middle of night looking for water after Pho's. So happy to find the authentic Vietnamese food that is clean and healthy with no MSG. Definitely, five star for me. read more
