I initially thought he was just letting me know how much time I had remaining, which is unusual because massage therapists typically don't provide time updates during the session. Then he told me it would cost an extra $10 for another 10 minutes. That's when I realized he wasn't informing me about the time; he was trying to sell me more service while I was half asleep. This made me uncomfortable since I had clearly communicated what service I wanted beforehand. Why wake me up to pitch an upsell? This was my second visit; the first time, I had a pleasant experience with a female therapist who gave me a great massage, which is why I returned. After my strange encounter with Kevin, I shared my experience with my friend who recommended the place. She told me that during her last visit, she had him as well, and he tried to upsell her during her massage too, making her feel uncomfortable. My friend has been going there for over a year and has never had an issue with the other therapists, so this was a new and unusual experience for both of us. I'm glad she clarified that this wasn't the norm for the business and the other therapists did not have this practice.
