Standing at the counter ordering my beverage I thought to myself, "wowee zowee, that sure is a lot of mint in their frig!" I ordered the chai tea with almond milk and lo and behold, there's the mint. Captain obvious, I know. My powers of rational thought are unmatched. Intellect aside, my brain and taste buds were confused in a not so good way. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of mint. I have only had exceptional coffee from Philz, but I am sick of their food not being up to par with their drinks and sick of wasting my money*** Dear Philz, I'm a longtime fan. I love your coffee and spread the good word of Philz wherever I go. But my boasting ends with your beans, because every time I try to eat something from your establishment I regret having put it it in my mouth. I once had a scone here that was harder and dryer than any baked good I ever sold during the 6 years I worked in coffee, or been sold in my 30+ years of life. It seemed like the oldest scone they could've given me, I could not eat it. I've also tried a blueberry muffin which was so disturbingly mushy on the inside that it appeared unbaked, and I also could not eat that. I tried the coffee cake last week, and when I went to break off a piece, I found that the top was already floating independently on top of the bottom piece, and appeared hollowed out from the inside?? Tasted stale and was freaked out by its disheveled state-- threw away immediately. I've also tried some kind of vegan hummus veggie protein bowl that was filled with dry herbs that kept get caught in my teeth and and a bagel that was so chewy I could barely get a bite. I keep trying because...I keep hoping I'll find at least one thing I can eat there but the all signs keep pointing to "eat elsewhere". Then today happened. The straw that broke the camel's back: the sausage frittata. I was super excited for this! I was hungry and hopeful. But when I bit into this frittata, I was thoroughly disgusted. The texture is like a dry, old plastic sea sponge. It's so texturally off putting it literally triggered my trypaphobia just feeling it in my mouth. Gagging ensued. Aside from the awful texture, it tastes like salty sea plastic. Frittatas are usually fluffy, like eggs, but this is like if an egg were made of salty rubber and baked in a sponge mold. I was so saddened to have put it in my mouth. It had no redeeming qualities. I'm so sorry to have to put ya'll on blast like this, but as someone who knows both the coffee industry and the bakery industry in OC extremely well, I not only know when something is bad, but I also know there are FAR better options out there other than whatever garbage supplier you're working with. And if this is all made in-house, consider partnering with a local baker! Just please, please do SOMETHING because Philz coffee deserves pairing with higher caliber food. In parting, I sincerely want to be able to count on Philz for my breakfast coffee+bite but until they solve this I will have to keep going elsewhere and only hitting up Philz for special coffee treats when food is not part of the equation. read more

Philz is my favorite coffee shop! Love this location. It's convenient for pickup. I just place my order on the Philz app, pick the time, and it's always ready when I arrive. I can't stress enough how excited I am that there is Philz in Orange now and SO close to me!! This is located at the Orange Circle. It's amazing because they also have their own parking lot. Though small but I typically do a mobile order so it's a quick in n out. I also really like the open air of the restaurant where they can open everything up. Looks super modern and fresh! The Ginger Snap and The Rose coffee are my faves! The staff here always makes my coffee to the T, no complaints ever! I also like the classic Mint Mojito but it's becoming to0 basic for me so I like to change it up. I try to go at least once every weekend. Their coffees are kind of pricey - $6ish dollars for a large but I am gonna continue to frequent this place. It is just that deeelish!! read more

His name is Andrew and I have never before or at leas in a long time, had service like his! He was so great! Flavorful coffee, it seriously punches you in the face. The chai not so much, if you're looking for a warm spiced chai you will be flipped around. The croissant was so buttery and delicious with the spiced chocolate center and the fiber muffin was surprisingly good. The servers were all nice and really showed a connection to each other as well as serve us in a timely manner. The shop is really well colored, lit, and designed. I could even do my work there. I was floored by my experience at Philz Coffee. I ordered an iced latte with rose cream, and it was exceptional! It was smooth, not too sweet, and tasted high quality. The baristas were friendly and personable. I frequently go to coffee shops to study, and Philz was an amazing place to get work done because of how the seating was slightly separated from the barista/ordering area. This made the noise level perfect, because I could still hear the coffee shop ambience, but it wasn't too overwhelming. It was also relatively quiet; they don't play loud music. Great bar style seating with outlets at every chair!!! and working WiFi!! I also loved how the tables were right next to the floor-to-ceiling length windows. The amount of natural lighting really elevated my experience here. It gets crowded easily, so if you are here to study or work, I would recommend coming early. read more

I came to this location this previous Sunday (1/22) at around 11-1130am. The store was not very busy, which was a welcomed surprise as I typically visit the Fullerton location when I got to Philz and it's always very busy there no matter the time of day. I walked into the shop and one of the friendly baristas took my order for their classic Iced Mint Mojito. It took between 5-10 minutes to receive my drink after ordering which was perfectly fine. Once I had it - chef's kiss - this drink NEVER disappoints and this visit was not an exception. The earthiness of the coffee paired with the fresh, herbal mint finished off with the sweetness of the brown sugar makes my heart so happy. I did not try it the "house way" but I might next time depending on how I feel, though candidly I am a creature of habit and probably won't. 10/10 experience, wouldn't have changed a thing about it save for Keanu Reeves being my date to enjoy my mojito with. Love Philz and they are getting closer to Irvine ;). I happen to be in the area so I decided to grab a coffee. This location is right in downtown Orange which is great location. I also liked the open air of the restaurant where they can open everything up. You order and then go out to wait. The baristas are all the way in the back ad they will bring your drinks up to the tables when they are ready. They also have stevia sugar which is nice! It's strong so watch out. I can't drink it after 2pm, otherwise I won't sleep. SYOY! read more

Very nice store, parking is terrible but that's not their fault. I've been to multiple Philz location and unfortunately this was the worst. I got the mocha tesora and normally it's a perfect balance of coffee and mocha. This location tasted like like a mocha hot chocolate with no coffee. There was also no affects of having coffee. I also got a mint mojito and it tasted very watered down with no hints of mint. Would try again to see if it was an off day or not but based on other reviews this seems to be a common theme for this location. read more

So happy there's another Philz location that's close to me! Even though they opened during Covid-19, they handled it beautifully. We went on Friday, which I think may have been the first day they were taking online orders? Not sure but we saw a promo for free drinks and decided to check out the Orange Circle. It's on the corner of Glassell and Maple, on the same block as Bruxie and Rutabegorz. There are about five parking spots and they were set up for pickup. There's some seating in front and on the side. Sanitation supplies are provided on a little table outside. I was anticipating that drinks were going to be slower than promised, as they're newly opened, but they were on time. They were friendly and 6 ft spacing was clearly defined. Drinks were made perfectly! Thanks Philz!! And now you have your choice of Starbucks, Urth, Contra, and Philz within a small radius. They're all different and I think it's great to have so many choices within reach! read more

Loved the location and the aesthetic. The service was good. Very clean and spacious. We ordered 2 iced drinks. However both drinks were watered down. There was no flavor. Mint Mojito I was really hope i like this place since it looks really promising with their claim of "No syrup, but all natural flavor" I definitely asked for sweet and creamy but... got disappointed when it was not creamy enough. U have to fixed it myself. This drink really remind me of Mint Serrano from 7leaves, but it is creamier and richer... and of course it have minty taste. I don't know. This is just my opinion. Philz in Orange delivers! Have been twice since the opening and ordered Philtered Soul twice, once iced and once hot. I prefer the iced, probably one of the best coffees I have ever had ! This place is a bit pricey but the quality and customer service is worth it.
