Well, Dr. Chang has done it again. :) I am a very thin, older (45 y.o.) woman. I have used botox and fillers over the years to reduce lines, plump up areas here and there, in order to have a more youthful appearance. (When you're a thin person, the lines and wrinkles in your face show even more because there is no fat to naturally sit in those lines, thus making them less severe.) I have had at least 3 appointments with Dr. Chang, and my results from every appointment were absolutely beautiful. He has a knack for applying botox and filters in just the right areas, to create a more natural look. I always ask him a ton of questions while I'm there, and patiently answers all of my questions. I have never felt pressured to get any service, and I have never felt like he was in it just for the money. One time, I 'chickened out,' so to speak, after I had been checked in and was waiting in the exam room. Dr. Chang was very nice about this, despite me wasting his time that day, and he didn't even charge me a cancelation fee or anything like that. So, to finish this up, I have only had great experiences/results at the hands of Dr. Chang. I was just there yesterday, and the results I got are beautiful. I'm honestly a bit stunned at the negative reviews left by others, but everyone is different with different experiences, of course; however, for me personally, I've found my doctor. Do not hesitate to have Dr. Chang change your life. He performed an upper eye lid lift in office and the whole process was amazing. UNEXPECTED! I was so scared, I had never even considered plastic surgery before and my aging hooded eyes were causing vision problems. 6 weeks post op, I am all healed up, look younger and can see well! I had a full tummy tuck including diastasis recti repair (basically sewing the two separated halves of my abdominal wall back together) and liposuction in January of 2021. A year later, I am thrilled with my results. Dr. Chang and his staff walked me through my procedure and my expectations. After surgery, the staff and Dr. Chang answered my calls quickly and followed up to see how I was feeling. As an avid exerciser, I was cautioned about going too hard too soon, so I stuck with my instructions of walking around immediately after surgery and adding more in each day. At 6 weeks I was cleared to resume light exercise. I did want a small revision along my scar line 9 months after my surgery. Dr. Chang saw me quickly and did the procedure in his office. I'm very happy with that result also. My youngest child is 15, and I never thought I'd be able to use my core muscles again. But not only did Dr. Change remove my extra "baby" skin, he repaired my abs. My stomach is now flat--something I couldn't achieve even with exercise prior to my surgery. Several years now, post-procedures. Happened to come across other reviews on Dr. Chang and it reminded me that I should finally take the time to submit my own. I had been feeling very insecure about my appearance and wanted to tweak a few things before a supposed pending move at the time. He came highly recommended by my husband, who had assisted him on breast surgeries. (What I had wanted done though was not breast-related) First off, at the initial consultation, he had asked me about my concerns. He complemented me, saying I didn't need any work done. But then a minute later he rattled off a list of procedures he recommended. (I saw he has done this before, as posted by another reviewer) What I had agreed to, was a mini-lift, filler in the temple and chin, and a lift lip (gull-wing type) which he had said he'd done a few times. He also said he'd do a complementary skin-tag removal on my neck. Day of surgery (done under local anesthesia and valium)...all happened so quickly..I sensed he was rushing through the procedures. In no time, I was back home. Swelling and discoloration was to be expected for a couple weeks at least. I noticed however that my once normal-looking earlobes were now attached to my jawline..aka "pixie ears" "One complication of facelift surgery is the pixie ear or satyr ear deformity. This is cause by excess tension on the ear lobe after surgery that causes the ear lobe to gradually become pulled down or stretched down onto the face. The result is an unnatural-appearing earlobe that is a giveaway that someone has had a facelift." So yeah, this happened to me. When I had discussed my concern with Dr. Chang, he just suggested wearing big heavy earrings. Re the lip procedure, well what he said was going to be an increase of only 2mm ended up being probably twice that. So I went from having basically NO upper lip to too much of one, with no "dip" in the center. I wish I had asked him to show me, with a pen, what it would look like afterwards. He also only lift the center portion of the upper lip, not from corner to corner as I had expected. Regarding the filler in the temples, well that was never done. Instead, he injected filler into my upper cheeks, which made my temples by comparison look even more narrow. When I asked him about this, he said that it would've taken so very many vials of filler to fill in my temples. SO, if that was the case, why did he not explain that to me "before" surgery? I could've saved several hundred dollars. He did remove the skintag, however with no numbing to that area..he lopped it off quickly and it was painful. Remembering the follow-up visits, I recall his demeaner being anything but caring, compassionate, empathetic to my concerns. He was actually combative, arrogant, cold, uncaring, and not taking the blame for anything that I voiced my concerns about. I do feel that he's all about making the most money he can in the shortest amount of time. As I said, this was several years ago, so maybe he's changed his ways since then. Dr. Chang is one of the most down to earth plastic surgeons you will ever meet. His goal is a natural look which is exactly what he delivers, not to say he can't give you exactly what you are looking for- he can. My daughter had a car accident 3 years which left her with a large cut under her cheek up to her lip, it was repaired by an ENT in a hospital, also a broken nose which was never set. Dr. Chang has been consulting and has recently added filler to the nose which has miraculously straightened it! He has also added filler to her scar to make it almost disappear. It's one thing to work on a face is symmetrical but to work on a face where one side has been damaged is something else. read more

Before you choose to go with Dr. Chang, please read this entire review, including my recommendations for becoming an informed patient before you have surgery. This is from a surgery 5 years ago and I believe physicians can get better. Dr. Chang is a nice man and has a good practice with lots of great nurses and support staff. My sense is he was trying to grow and pay for his business by seeing more patients with more procedures than he probably should have. Hopefully in 2022 and beyond, these issues have resolved. Review: I had surgery with Dr. Chang and continue to have problems 5 years later. I had a breast reduction, a tummy tuck, and liposuction under my chin. Please, if you are going to use Dr. Chang, read this entry in its entirety. My $27,000 only left me worse off and in need of additional surgeries over the years. I would not recommend Dr. Chang for any of these procedures. I truly hate leaving bad reviews for physicians, but I'm concerned other women will get a "mommy makeover" and learn the hard way they wasted their money and their health on trying to get their bodies back. I still believe in plastic surgery and have had other surgeries with fantastic results, including reworking some of Dr. Chang's mistakes. Breast Reduction: I was originally a 42DDD and told him I wanted to be a 42D or 42DD (one to two sizes smaller). I came out of surgery as a 40C (on a good day). My breasts were shockingly smaller! I asked him in a follow up appointment what had happened and he told me he took out 150cc and 200cc from each breast. I recently reviewed my surgical notes on my medical record account online and he removed 304cc and 398cc from each breast - almost twice what he said he removed. At this level, I would have been able to claim insurance coverage, at least. I have been stressed for all these years wondering what happened to my breasts and feeling like I am mis-proportioned for my size. Additionally, I am a pretty broad-chested woman. (note my bra circumference) He did not take into account the width of my ribcage and moved my nipples way too close together and way too high. My nipples rise up above my bras most of the time and are extremely sensitive. I look strange, disproportionate for my structure and my size and I paid for this. I will not put back in implants to offset this mistake for the size issue and I've been told there is no fix for the nipple placement issue. This is now my life. Tummy Tuck: Dr. Chang told me my abdomen wall needed to be sewn back together given I gave birth to one 9lb and one 10lb baby in 2006 and 2008. At that time, my abdominal wall appeared to have less than an inch that would need to be closed. Within 3 months of the surgery, I could tell something was wrong. I thought it was a fluid pocket that formed under the skin and over the incision. My waist was (is) actually larger than I had started with before the surgery. After a recent CT scan, I see that the stiches didn't stay together, and I will need abdominal wall reconstruction surgery. I still look about 3 or 4 months pregnant and my abdomen is rock hard because the extended abdomen is my muscle wall. Neck Liposuction: I recently went in for a face lift as my jowls and neck were starting to sag. My current plastic surgeon finally convinced me to have liposuction. I kept saying I'd already had that surgery and he seemed confused. I don't have any scars anywhere under my chin or behind my ears. After this surgery, I found out they are supposed to remove fat from 3 places, behind each ear and under the chin. Dr. Chang only removed fat from one place, under my chin. Informed Patient Recommendations: Again - this is a review from a surgery 5 years ago. He might have gotten better at these procedures over the years. If you do choose to go with him and you have any of these procedures, please discuss specifics with him before the surgery (e.g. exactly how much mass you want removed from each breast, where will your nipples be located, how will he insure your abdominal wall won't pull apart after surgery / what should you wear / what type of drains will you have in place, what will the surgery be with liposuction anywhere on your body / how many incisions / how many drains / what other procedures might you need to complete the look you are going for) Good luck in recovering your old / new body! When was the last time you walked into an appointment with a plastic surgeon only to have him talk you OUT of a procedure? That is exactly what happened with Dr. Chang. He said he would be happy to see me in a few years when I might actually need some age based work. The office are warm and welcoming. The staff, those few I had contact with, were professional and courteous. I was seen exactly at my scheduled time. Dr. Chang has done remarkable work on my daughter after a horrible car accident so I am familiar with his results. He was very honest with her when they first met saying he could not promise the results she wished for. Talk about underselling. His working style is reminiscent of a sculpture. I don't recommend Aesthetica or Dr. Chang. I used to see Dr. Chang for treatment of my crow's feet around my eyes several years ago. In the past year I've seen him hire new, somewhat snooty staff members and a lack of personal involvement. He is the only Dr. In his practice. He stopped listening and as a result I have a scar under my right eye caused by his treatment. I sent a letter recently asking for help to rectify the problem and i have heard nothing back. I went to Dr. Chang for a much-needed procedure, based on powerfully positive feedback from a friend (and her great results were certainly a testament to his work). I was nervous because I knew I needed a full neck/chin lift to get rid of a hereditary "waddle" that truly interfered with my daily life, but was hoping for something less invasive. Stay away. My 3 min consultation should have been a red flag, but I still had trust in Dr. Chang. My upper blepharoplasty was almost $5000 and when my eyes hurt incredibly 2 weeks after, Dr. Chang said I have to find an ophthalmologist. Sadly, that was in December 2017! My eyes never recovered and the upper lids look worse than before the surgery. But the worst is that they hurt (apparently I developed chronic dry eye), the first year I put the antibiotic/stereoid ointment every night, or I couldn't sleep; now after almost 2 years, I still have to put an ointment before I go to sleep. I gotta be totally honest here and say that if you're looking for a plastic surgery center you should probably choose somewhere else. I had three weeks until a vacation and wanted to have some fillers put in to fix a scar. I planned it out so that the timing would be just perfect if I needed any adjustments after the procedure. They made it sound so easy and affordable and flexible during my consultation but it has been so far from that of an experience. First they cancelled my appointment w/o even Calling. Apparently there was a power outage in the building for two hours in the morning and no one stayed to let anyone know they simply put a sign on the door and closed for the day. Not only that but when I tried to get another appointment after driving all the way over there and wasting my time they treated me like it was inconvenient for them and I shouldn't be upset that they couldn't fit me in anywhere else. I begged and pleaded to see if I could get in and they finally put me in at the end of the day. I was the last client on dr. Chang's schedule and he seemed very tired and done with the day. I mentioned I would like to put the remainder of the syringe in my lips after we finished the scar and to sum it all up I ended up w several dents still in my scar, a huge area not filled at all and uneven lips. To top it all off when trying to fix my lips before my vacation his front desk staff has been nothing but rude and unhelpful in finding another appointment. I'm gonna have to find another doctor and spend double the amount I planned fixing the work. I neverrrrr write bad reviews but this experience has made me want to cry and I'm so insecure now and feel like I've wasted my money. I too work in a business where the results vary and so I try to be understanding and absolutely would've been but what makes it even worse is that they don't even care about helping to fix it. It seems like all they see is a dollar sign when they talk to you. I really don't want anyone else to go through this so I'm leaving this here. I would like to share my experience with Dr Chang. Not only is he a kind, gentle and caring doctor, his work is outstanding. I have been to "Day Spas" and dermatologists which have been good and bad. DO NOT GO HERE. I paid over $8,000 for a closed rhinoplasty and my nose is even worse when viewed from the front than before. I had 3 pre-op appointments and made it VERY clear what I wanted. I wanted a narrower and lifted tip, along with removing my hump. I wanted a straight or slightly curved upwards nose. After the surgery, my hump is mostly gone, but when I smile there still is a tiny one, and it's downturned. From the front it still looks like I have a hump. You can only tell it's gone from my side profile. Not what I wanted at all. Additionally, my bridge is way wider than before. It starts skinny at the top, gets wayyy wider in the middle, then gets skinny again. It looks horrible and I am so unhappy. Also, my tip is uneven, which he even admitted to doing at my one year post-op appointment. He said he must have shaved off more on my right side than the left. I asked if he could fix it and he said he could, but only if I paid for it of course. To make things even worse, my tip is no more lifted than before. Overall, I am livid at the amount of money I spent for a nose that I am still unhappy with. I have never left a Yelp review in my entire life, so the fact that I'm leaving one for this should speak volumes. I saved up for 3 years for a rhino and now I'm going to have to save up money for a second one. Beware. read more

I went to see Dr. Chang about 8yrs ago for a tummy tuck. He told me no, well he said he could but it would not be the results i was looking for. I his polite way he told me that i would need to loose some more weight then i would get the results i was looking for. Well speed up to Nov. 2017 went back to see him after loosing 35 lbs and he told me i was a perfect candidate for the now looking for mommy make over. Tummy tuck, mr, bl, lipo. I went on line to know what to expect from all that was being done. Well the pain was, well let just say the mr was the worst. I was discourage at points and he just keep reassuring me that all will be good. So on February 1, 2018 i did it all, and wouldn't change my chose in doing it or who did it. The comments about the front desk i only meet one of the many that work, that was rude but thank God she doesn't do the surgery. I would not recommend this practice and here's why: I ended up with significant bruising after receiving lip filler (I was told this was a rare, but not an unheard-of occurrence). Dr. Chang gave me a couple of ice packs and told me to tell people I had fallen down. I had an appointment with my dermatologist a week later. When they saw the black bruising on my lip and chin, they told me to return to Dr. Chang's office to ask for assistance. I did so. When Dr. Chang saw me he said, again, that I simply needed to tell people I had fallen. When I said this was unacceptable he, finally, said there was a laser procedure that could cut the healing time in half. I asked if he would do it himself and he replied he would. So, Katy numbed my chin area and started the laser treatment, which was not without stinging. When I started to cry she discontinued the treatment and said we were done. I agreed. It had been a long week. Renee then gave me some notes on healing treatments and I left with her post-it note. Just yesterday I received a call from Katy saying that I was supposed to contact them and, since I hadn't, she was calling me. Really? There was never a shred of empathy from Dr. Chang or the staff, with the exception of Renee who gave me tips on healing. The glib manner with which Dr. Chang treated me after leaving me with vivid black bruising was appalling. There was no follow-up after sending me off with ice packs, (although there was no problem charging me a premium for Dr. Chang's services) and Dr. Chang's bedside manner was confrontational as opposed to caring. read more

Dear Doctor Chang: Im writing you an email to follow up on my surgeries with you after October 25th 2017. I had pain ever since the last operation. I know you tried to correct the scars and I think in the last operation where you tired to correct the scars and the earlobe you closed a Fistula that I had in the ear cartilage. Back in Lima I continued with pain and I did not know what the issue was... I went for a consultation with a Peruvian doctor in Lima. The doctor found out that a closed Fistula was the source of my pain. I had to undergo another surgery last month to take the fistula that you had closed in one of the operations. I had a mini face lift and upper eye lid surgery with Dr. Chang and paid $9850. In both cases there were aspects that I felt needed tweaking afterwards. Long story short, we went back and forth about additional surgery to cost $3500 ( that he initially said I didn't need), and corrective fillers that he said he would charge me at his cost. But none of this happened, because in the end he told me that he couldn't make me happy, and that no plastic surgeon could, and he let me know that he no longer wanted me as a patient. In my mind that is as easy excuse for a doctor to give. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Chang now for over 6 years. I initially went in for a consultation for a breast augmentation which I continue to put off for personal reasons. Dr. Chang was open and honest with me that day about fillers and where he felt I could benefit from them. I have a long slender face and that day he gave me several suggestions. I now go in once a year at least and have filler placed under my eyes, around my chin, and define my cheeks. His suggestions I feel have always been spot on and his placement of filler has always been perfect. I always leave his office with a very natural look. I've regularly been seeing Dr. Chang since 2010 for a number of various surgeries and procedures and have been very pleased with all results. Most recently, Dr. Chang has performed the mini-facelift surgery in conjunction with upper eye blepharoplasty on me in June, 2018. I had already done my lower eye blepharoplasty by Dr. Chang five years ago and I was absolutely thrilled with results and this time I wanted to refresh my upper eyes as well. I have decided to get the mini-facelift because I was noticing that injectables which I was receiving for several years no longer provided results I was hoping for. While I didn't have much sagging and probably could have waited for another couple years, I've decided to go ahead with the mini-face lift because one can achieve the best results with this type of facelift when signs of aging are minimal. After I saw the video on Authestecia's website where Dr. Chang shows the entire surgery, I was convinced that this surgery will be a good thing for me. I also knew how the mini-facelift was going to be performed and what I should expect from this surgery. It has been two months since the surgery and I'm extremely happy how natural looking the mini-facelift and eye blepharoplasty are. The scars left after both procedures are not visible and scars behind my ears after the mini-facelift have healed extremely well and not noticeable at all. It was a bit uncomfortable for the first few weeks after the surgery because I felt how much tighter my skin was and incisions were still raw and were bleeding a bit too. I followed all instructions given by Dr. Chang as to how to take care of incisions and bleeding and use an ointment.
