My review is for Kathy at Sunny SoCal Brows, Suite 118. What I love most about Kathy and her work is her attention to detail and her keen eye for shape. What's more, is she manages to make them look so natural! I came to Kathy to add more depth and color to my brows. If there is one thing I do every morning, it is fill in my brows. I don't typically wear much makeup; with clean, shaped brows, the look is effortless. Kathy managed to make the process very comfortable. While there was some slight pain involved, she was as gentle as I can imagine anyone being, given the nature of the procedure. I was so pleased with my brows after that I shared photos with family and friends. My mom is scheduled to have hers done next week, and my sister can't wait to have hers done as well. I go back for my touch up in a few weeks and can't wait to see the completed look. Please do yourself the favor and book with Kathy! She is great at what she does!! read more

Caught me and one of my relatives just off guard. Needed to get some hair and make up done mainly as around shopping here with multiple areas here. Suite #5 Jodi- hair cut She won't listen to what you want and try to cut your bangs in a way that "hides" her mistakes. She won't give you proper layers. And She doesn't know the difference between highlights that frame the face vs randomly placed strips of hair. I'm so sad. Her name is Julie and I've been seeing her since day 1. She knows how to work with my hair and gets it perfect without drying it out. I've used many other hair dressers and they have always made my hair crispy or color was never the consistency of my liking. This review is long overdue for Julie (IG: @julie.hairartist). I have been going to Julie for the last five years and she took my hair from dark to light and everything in between. She is extremely personable and will make you feel comfortable when you first meet with her. She will ask a series of questions such as: style inspo, maintenance habits, etc. Based on her assessment, she will work with you to figure out what you like. One of the many things I appreciate is that she's honest. She's upfront with maintenance and will let you know that certain colors such as ashier tones will fade quicker and require more maintenance. This is valuable in a stylist since you're spending money and you want to make sure you're getting what you want. Before I found Julie, I never had "my hair lady" or my go-to hair person. There was someone I went to once and she had moved. Previously, I jumped around a lot because others weren't giving the results I wanted or didn't understand my hair. Julie worked her magic on my hair and gave me the color I wanted. Do not go to Krista Sweet in #108. I literary cried in my car for 15 mins ager she was done with my hair. I told her not to cute much off. Literary nothing. I said LESS than ¼ of an inch! ......... She cut off 2 inches! I could not believe she would do that! I cried so long. She told me ""just go and buy some biotin." WTF!!!! Are you kidding me? How about you just don't cut my hair if you don't know what you're doing. Then I got home and looked at my hair closer, I have zebra striped everywhere! She didn't even weave the hair in and out, like you would if you were doing highlights. I will post pictures if I figure out how to do that, so that you can see how horrendous my hair looks. I can't even look at myself in the mirror without crying. I'm so upset. I just moved down here and I was using group on to find a good hair lady, and this is what I get. I wish I could go back in time and never have gone to here. She's very rude, doesn't care to talk to you, and best of all, doesn't know how to do hair. I should have known better when i asked "How long have you been doing hair?", response, "5 years." What a lie! If you want to save yourself some tears, don't got to her for highlights. Tam is just Awesome!!! She just really does a great job waxing & shaping my eyebrows!! She's detailed & very experienced! She used to be at another salon off of McFadden in Santa Ana, but switched over to this place some months back, in the Target shopping center. I Love this new set up at Phenix, that she's at. It's by Appointment only. They have a big Bottle of Hand sanitizer as soon as you are led inside the main entrance. She has her own private room which is cute with decorations, clean, it's a pretty good size , and she plays nice & relaxing music. She now does Microblading! She sanitizes, & masks are enforced. Krista Sweet in Suite #108 gives sweet deals for brazilian blowouts!! I tried her brazilian blowout through a living social deal and I like her for a couple of things: 1. She returns your call or text! Most stylists I tried to get a hold of never return my calls and always somehow screws up my appointment. I made my first appointment with Krista and my original appointment was kept. No changes. 2. $89 for a brazilian blowout, WOW! where can you find that out nowadays? Best thing is, you don't have to wait for another living social deal to come around, she never changes her price. 3. She's a speedy gonzales! My previous brazilian blowouts have taken from 2-6 hours, with the different stylists that i've tried. She did mine in an hour! This saved me so much time and I don't have to sit there until I can't feel my butt anymore. woohoo! 4. She's down to earth. Unlike typical stylists who try to sell you brand name shampoos that costs $40 a bottle, she recommended me to get mine at costco. My initial reaction to kirkland brand was ?!@#%^?. My inner diva says, "NUH UH, that no-name brand shampoo ain't goin on my hair!" until she told me that it's salon quality and I'd be surprised to see how good it is. Review is definitely long overdue! Found Julie the hairartist through a recommendation from a friend who has been going to her for years. Julie is very personable and keeps you involve in the hair process by asking for inspo pictures, your hair maintenance habits, and color choices. She likes to do a dry cut, which I feel is more precise than if the hair was cut wet. I did a natural brown balayage and after 3 months, the color still looks good (albeit some fading) and the new roots blend and integrate well into the old hair. What I love most about her is that she teaches you how to maintain your hair color and integrity afterwards by recommending certain products for my specific hair needs. Best advice I would recommend is to book an appointment with her a least 3 months in advance for the best time slots. She is definitely worth the wait! It is not the Salon itself I was unsatisfied with, it was a stylist inside. I went to see Krista for a Brazilian Blowout. She has a great every day price of $89. My first impression was very pleasing. She's friendly and didn't trying selling me anything nor did she try winning me over from my normal stylist (who does not do blowouts). However, I was not at all pleased by her product. I've had several Brazilian Blowouts and I've had 2 Keratin treatments. After having my hair done with Krista, I'm not convinced she is truly using Brazilian Blowout products, or she's just not doing a good job of application. Results of prior blowouts: 1)absolutely no curl or wave left in my hair 2) 5 minutes of blow drying just so it's not dripping wet, no brush needed 3) If I choose not to blow dry my hair, it will dry completely straight, no curl, no wave 4) No frizz 5) $200 and last 16-20 weeks depending on how many times I wash it & the type of shampoo I use Results of Krista's blowout (I've had same results with a Keratin treatment): 1) no frizz 2) Two days later I washed my hair and I allowed my hair to air dry. It dried with a curly wave 3) After 1 week I must completely dry my hair with a brush to remove the curl/wave 4) Return to 20-25 minutes of blow drying after 2 weeks 5) $89 and in need of another blowout after 4 weeks Final answer: $200 every 4 months, is more affordable than an unsatisfying job of $89 every month. You definitely get what you pay for in Krista's case. read more

I recently came here to get my hair done by nancy. I've been wanting to go lighter for a very long time now and other places suck! It never turned out like how I wanted it to and over time, my hair turns orange. So disappointing! I found Nancy through Instagram. She posts so many pictures, so it gave me a good idea of what I wanted. It's easy to explain what I wanted since she's an expert with blonde hair. I also showed her pictures! She foiled the crap out of my hair and within three hours, my hair was super light! I was sooo happy. Finally someone who can lighten my hair without turning it orange! She also showed me different brands or purple shampoo to take care of my hair. If you want to get your hair done, you have to book an appointment with her 3 months in advance! As soon as I was done with my hair, I quickly made an appointment with her before she gets booked up! She gets booked up very fast btw. After coming to nancy, I won't be going to anyone else. I am beyond happy with the results and I couldn't believe my hair was super light. To be honest, I thought it wouldn't turn out blonde because my hair was some what dark. Krista Sweet did my blowout for the first time. Not even a week later my hair was already wavy. This is my 3rd blowout and this has never happened before. my last 2 blowouts my hair was pin-straight for 2 months. I don't think she used enough product. Her attitude is generally unprofessional also and it takes her a while before she calls u back when her voicemail says "I will call u back within 24 hours". I rescheduled to get my hair re-done but then she cancelled last minute. The good thing is that it was only $89 but it wasn't worth it to me because the blowout didn't even last a week. read more

I just had my Brazilian blowout done by Krista in Suite 108 and it was great! I found her on Groupon and am always very skeptical when trying out new places. However, Krista did a great job and was very time efficient. I've had experiences at salons where I would be there 2+ hours. Also, Phenix is separated into individual suites so I liked the privacy during my time there, rather than other clients or stylists being able to stare at you or interrupt while getting worked on. I must start off by saying that it was well worth the drive. I wanted ombré on my hair I didn't want just anyone to do. After many months of research I came across Nancy. Her work is simply amazing! NANCY IS AMAAAAZING!! I came in with an idea be also took her advice, it came out way better than my previous hair dresser !!

So I've been to other salons and as I've said before in another review, my hair is pretty crazy. It's curly and unruly and almost impossible to manage. Every time I go in for a cut, it looks good for the day, until I wash it. And I've had pretty good haircuts before, but none as amazing as this one. Lisa F. was my stylist and she was so patient with me and took her time making sure every tiny portion of my hair was cut perfectly. She understoond (unlike many other stylists, even seasoned ones), how to properly style coarse, thick hair like mine. She guided me into getting the cut I had imagined, but being that the model in the picture had a different hair type, she did her best to match it. And I really love it. This is a pretty new place from what I was told, and I'm so happy I found out about it so soon. Thank goodness I was running some errands in their shopping center and happened to come accross them. Nosy me. : ) It's a lovely place, where each stylist has their own, homey, suites. You feel especially catered to here. Some salons are cold, bare, too loud or snobby. Not here. I felt like I was hanging out with a good girlfiend. I bet you'll feel the same way too. read more

I would caution stylists to carefully consider their core client base before going with the Salon Suites environment. Not all clients will be happy with the environment. My stylist of many years recently moved to a Phenix Salon Suite, and I do not find it at all comfortable or inviting. The individual suites vary somewhat in size, but most are quite small and cramped. At the particular Salon Suites my stylist moved into, there is virtually no lobby or waiting area, so if her next client shows up before she is done with me, that client is invited to wait in the already confined suite. Having a total stranger staring at you while you're getting your hair done is, at least for me, disconcerting and claustrophobic. Unfortunately, I will now be looking for a different environment. read more

Hopefully this review will save someone else's hair, time, and pocketbook, so they don't have to go through the hassle I did. This review is for Krista Sweet who rents space at Phenix Salon Suites. She also advertises herself as 'The Look Salon'. I found her through Groupon for a 'Brazilian Blowout'. I called her, went in for a consultation & was told I didn't need to buy a Groupon (first lesson to be learned here) and that she would just honor the price. Made an appointment. Came in to have a 'Brazilian Blowout'. I have very curly, textured, full hair. Krista applied a gritty substance to my DRY hair. She mashed it around with her hands, my hair looked a mess! She proceeded to take a blow-dryer (to it) and then went over my hair with one pass of a high-temperature straightening iron. She did not rinse my hair after that; IN FACT, she never used any water, period. She let me walk out with the substance in my hair and told me to give it 24 hours and then to rinse & condition with DermOrganic's Masque the first time and after that to use DermOrganics shampoo (non-sulfate) and the Masque every time after that. (Read above to what Krista actually did). These are instructions for a Brazilian Blowout: 1. Wash hair with clarifying shampoo 2. Apply BB Solution to wet hair, making sure you equally saturate each section of the hair 3. Blow-dry straight 4. Flat-iron in very small sections to seal in the formula with extreme heat (450-degrees)-pass over with heat several times 5. Rinse with water. 6. Blow dry straight. From start to finish, the treatment will take approximately 90-120 minutes. Results will last up to 12 weeks. It took Krista less than an hour to do my hair. By day 3 my hair looked as it did when I initially walked in the salon. Krista Sweet is a con. She did not do a Brazilian Blowout on my hair, and is deceptive how she advertised her services on Groupon (also, Living Social). read more

I just had the most brilliant manicure with Chrome Polish by Jill Jacobsen Suite #115. My nails look like they just got Chrome Plated. Jill takes her time and explains all the options you can have with your nails and what the best options are based on the condition of your own nails. She won't steer you wrong. She has also had a lot of experience in "corrective work" done by manicurists inexperienced in Gel and Shellac techniques. My last Purple Chrome Manicure lasted a solid 2 weeks. My neighbor was so excited she booked an appointment later for a little Chrome Action. read more
