You walk in, pay $8, (I believe?), grab a self-guided map and then you are on your way. The grounds are really well maintained. The flowers and plants are really cool to see and the information on each plant is cool. The self-guided tour took about an hour. If I'm in St. Croix again, I will definitely go back.

The Jardín Botánico de Caguas was constructed over what used to be the Hacienda San José, an old…read moresugar mill from back in the late 19th and early 20th century. It's a nice place to visit with the family that won't set you back. Entrance is $7 for adults and $3 for kids. Children under under 2 don't pay. Our son liked seeing the turtles, birds, and iguanas. We enjoyed a hike around the grounds. It's an easy hike, apt for all ages. There's plenty to see, from flora to sculptures. There is an indigenous ceremonial plaza, a small museum with indigenous artifacts, and of course there are some remnants of the old sugar mill. The Casa Jíbara is pretty cool. You can take a guided tour for an extra $3 or roam around on your own. If you get hungry there is a shack that serves food and refreshments. They told me that every 3rd Wednesday of each month are Noches de Galería on the evening: arts and crafts, music, and food.

Nos montamos en el teleférico para subir y para bajar en su divertido tractor y guagua con aire. El estacionamiento lo están arreglando bien bonito abajo antes de entrar a La Marquesa, en donde te llevan en guaguita con aire hasta allá arriba. Dentro de todo, lo recomiendo mucho para familias o personas como yo queriendo pasar un ratito sano con un ser querido tan grande como una abuelita! ¡Muchas Gracias! - PS. Pregunté si puede traer su propia silla de rueda! _______________________________________________________ As I stated above in Spanish, I went to "La Marquesa" in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico with my grandma yesterday around noon! The sun was shinning and everything looked beautiful (pictures attached from nature!) We had a great evening my grandmother and I! We ate and we soaked up the sun, surrounded by nature! We saw the butterflies and all of the different birds they had! They were super taken care of. Their habitat was beautiful! We then got on the cable car to go up the mountains and the view was amazing! We then went down the mountain on a fun tractor, good for kids, families, and the elderly (if able to walk with minimal assistance). They took us back to the parking lot, which they are fixing very nicely! Overall, the experience was GREAT! Good for adventurous families, single, or couples, wanting to do something nice and spend some time with family! Like I did with my 82 year old grandmother. Thank you! - PS. Ask about wheelchair accessibility!
