This is the place where I was a child. I loved to climb up all the way to the castle and enjoyed…read morethe view over this very old town from the lovely garden. Quedlinburg without the castle - that wouldn't be possible. If you go up you will find the restaurant "Schloßkrug" on the left side, which is a nice place to sit and see the roofs of Quedlinburg. On the left there is the entrance to the castle, but also the one to the "Stiftskirche" - a really old church, where they exhibit the treasure that was robbed during the second world war. I the crypt there is the grave of Heinrich I., but you can not go there. In 2007 "The Name of the Rose" was played here as a theatre play, which is planned to be continued. Inside the castle there's an exhibition with orgiginal objects from the old centuries.

We spent a day wandering through the intimate and welcoming town visiting friends and family at…read moremany of the different shops and decided to go for a walk on the treetop path. Along the treetop path there are 18 platforms of the approximately 1,000m long path, with nearly 50 different adventure elements, resting stations and interesting facts. Being built in the woods it is also a very peaceful path to walk, explore some of the interactive offerings it provides or just sit at one of the many rest areas and enjoy the day. If you are little nervous of heights this will not be an issue for you, trust me! I can't stand heights but the pathway is wide enough and sturdy enough to provide that reassurance you won't be dropping anytime soon. The view from above is very nice, the path is capable of handling wheelchairs and strollers and there are restrooms within walking distance. You can also continue on the additional hiking trails up hill or take the castle mountain cable car which I conveniently located nearby as well. Cheers!
