It is a short walk from the main square in Barco, you just have to walk in the right direction. If you leave the square and go uphill, you should see it through the houses on your left, then you can walk up some steps a street or so along.
There are events here, so i am told, but you can't walk inside the castle itself. This being spain the structure has been allowed to become dangerous, but the outside is good enough. When I was there the weather had turned very cold, but half the sky was still sunny, and half filled with black thunderclouds. The castle glowed against the black clouds, and I realised all those El Greco paintings were not exaggerations.
Geat views of the river below and the public works on the bridge. Then head into town and stock up on booze and barco beans (the local speciality)
