Pex Hill is one of the most attractive pieces of land in Widnes. Situated across the road from Cronton Sixth Form College, the entrance is barely visible when driving past, and the winding road that leads up towards the old quarry and visitor centre is bereft of any signage to indicate what you can expect upon arrival.
This is an excellent place for Dog Walkers and ramblers, and the rolling countryside and rugged nature of the hill itself and its most attractive feature. There is a old quarry situated centrally at the site, and is now merely a very large hole in the ground, adorned by foliage.
One note of caution however, a couple of years ago, my brothers dog was viciously attacked by a pack of 3 other dogs whilst my brother was walking him - These dogs almost killed him, and it took many years for my brothers dog to recover his former enthusiasm - Please be careful if you are walking dogs in the area, because my brother never found the owner of the dogs. read more
