I…read moreread about this event in the Tulsa World and since we were running over to Grand that same day and Pine Lodge is literally a mile away from our destination, we decided to check it out. We went right at dusk, but I think if it had been truly dark, we could have seen the resort from miles away. ALL. THE. LIGHTS. (And, other decorations.) We were surprised by the amount of holiday cheer that was put up. Lots of inflatables (some quite unique). If you're in the area, I would certainly check it out. My stay at Pine Lodge Resort, was peaceful and relaxing. Booking a room online was quick and so…read moreeasy! Location became an issue for me! The lady on the phone talked to me while I was meandering around the area in my truck on a dark road. Thank goodness!! She was so accommodating! For example: the number of nights I wanted to stay. Minimum is two nights. I was allowed to stay one. After I was assigned to one cabin, she allowed me to stay in a different cabin. Pulling up to park at my assigned cabin my headlights showed 3 deer!! Another times, I saw them from the balcony, several more deer. In fact, they seemed within an arm's reach. The balcony was clean with a covered table, hot tub and a means to charcoal meats. The grill utensils hung along the guard rails. Once inside, it appeared very clean. Every possible amenity was available (except robes or q-tips). Fireplace, cut wood, lighter, microwave, fold out couch, mini fridge, window unit, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes, table and 2 chairs, tv, wifi, ceiling fan, towels (request extra if using the hot tub), shampoo, conditioner and body soap. Of course, a large cozy bed! The hot tub is small. My best guess would be that they can accommodate 4 small bodies max. Great jets and very hot water! The showers are so clean and sparkly! The shampoo, conditioner and body soap hang on the wall. All have a very mild scent. It was a perfect get away for me.

We stayed in both log cabins and had the kitchen (which we did pay for so no special favors there), with our leader staying in a motel room nearby. We all had a wonderful time staying here and I think about that trip all the time. Yes we had some mayflies that came in when we let the doors open too long, or some small spiders, but it was generally a clean cabin despite being right in the woods. As someone who is terrified of bugs, and isn't someone who would claim to love or even like camping, I genuinely felt great staying here! Waking up to the gorgeous sunrises of Oklahoma on the deck was my favorite part of the day at Diamondhead. The group would attest as well that the lake we were at was so wonderful, and we all had a lovely time skipping rocks and looking at nature and the waves of the water. There are plenty of places to make campfires, gather wood, run around, explore, you name it. It was genuinely incredible to stay here and I am so thankful every day I got to come here. One day I'll come back! In short, if you are looking for a place to stay to explore the wilderness and have a traditional camping experience, I would come here. If your last trip to MVR was more than two years ago; then you have got to return! I'm a small business owner and I NEED WIFI AND/OR PHONE SERVICE wherever I go, this is how I make a living. This place had neither. Advertisement said rooms had hot tubs but neither room had USABLE hot tubs. One hot tub was empty and came with a frog. The second hot tub had water dripping from the top deck and lukewarm water. The room carpet was old and smelled horrible. Upon check out, I was asked to strip the beds, gather up all trash and towels, and wash the dishes. Is this a hotel or an Airbnb? I do not recommend this place and will not be back

The bed is more comfortable than any hotel. It is pet friendly, so we were able to take our dog. The owners' dog, Harley, welcomed us to our cabin. (Harley seems to run the place.) While we had all of the modern conveniences, (satellite TV, DVD, VCR, stereo system, refrigerator, coffee and tea bar, running water, toilet, etc), we were also able to hike, grill steaks and build a campfire. The surroundings are beautiful. Very peaceful and rejuvenating. We will be back!
