Wow........ Firstly i have attended this salon when Jeanette owned it, when Karen worked there and when Kelly was working there too, so i certainly feel i have the right to an opinion on this subject. I have to agree with the negative comments with regard to the bitchiness, sure i am not debating some clients may have a laugh with the girls, but this is not the same for everyone, not all customers are treated with the same 'customer service' sadly you can be made to feel alienated if you are new or not a weekly/monthly regular, which is one of the reasons i ceased going, i must also point out isnt Kellys comment regarding home nail techicians, unprofessional and bitchy!!!!! Kelly has kindly proven my point and other reviewers points about how bitchy they are in her OWN words, why thank you Kelly....... I have to admit i have heard Kelly whisper a nasty comment about a lady that came into the salon, which made me feel paranoid that it may be something they would do with me. I must say it is great that Kelly has written a comment on here to make a stance, however it does read that you protest too much - something that you really need to be careful with. Some of the comments from members of staff etc seem to be accusing other reviewers of negative comments because of personal vendettas, however people are entitled to give their opinions weather new or old salon owners like it or not, thats just the way the cookie crumbles, i suggest you remove the business from Qype if you dont like the risk of someone posting a trueful review. Finally Karen left for bigger and better things, and believe me all her customers have followed her to ASK, that says a lot for her workmanship. I called to Petticoats with a prebooked appointment, to notice that all staff had gone home and the shop was closed. My appointment was in the book, i know this as i personally came in and booked it, so i would like to know why the shop was closed when my appointment had been made. I noticed through the shop window, that the shop looked like a back street market stall or a tat shop, it is stocked with tacky baby clothes all hung up on pieces of string (what i tacky first impression). As for the comments below about the shop been decorated to a very high standard, well what can i say there is that much clutter in the shop you cant even see the decorating. Is this this a proffesional salon, or a market stall, im confused. Is this because you are not getting enough trade on your beauty. There are better quality baby clothes in home bargins then there is here. Why would anyone go into a nail salon to buy baby clothes!!!! or the rest of the tat you sell. I cannot believe the comments on this sight, Kelly and the girls have been doing my nails for over 7 years now and Ive never had a bad set. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and fit you in for appointments. As for the 'tat' in the shop Ive never heard anything so ridiculous and vindictive. What is the matter with a small business diversifying and trying to sell other things, and none of it is 'tat'! The nails are of a very high quality and the prices are more than reasonable. Some people will never be happy and want something for nothing these days, I suggest they get out more!!! read more

Wow...well I'm really shocked by some of these comments. I work at petticoats, therefore are one of the girls being referred too here. I have only worked here since June 2009, just before Kelly took over the salon. But I have never worked a day when there has been a bad atmosphere. I have a great time at work, with everyone I work with, as well as the clients. If having a laugh at work is unprofessional, then your job must be very boring! We always make our clients feel very welcome and never 'bitch'. In my experience, salons are very 'bitchy' environments, however, this one is different. We are all really professional and friendly. As for Kelly, well she is an amazing nail technician, so creative, her nail art speaks for itself!! Iv had my nails done by many nail technicians and she is by far THE best!! She treats everyone with respect, even though she is the boss, she works very hard, in the salon along with the rest of us, which not all salon owners do. This proves she strives to make her clients happy, as we all do! As for the salon 'never being open', it definitely is... as I work there!!! And I believe we are entitled to holidays like everyone else, we strive to make our clients happy and if anyone has a complaint we deal with it in a professional manner, always. Anyway, each to their own I say!! So personally I wouldn't bother listening to bad reviews, if you want your nails doing well, come to us and make your own mind up :) read more

Having read some of the negative comments about this salon, I am gob smacked! I work at the salon and I can assure you it is friendly,clean, professional, and a pleasurable atmosphere. We take pride in all our work and make sure our clients leave the salon satisfied and very happy, in which they do so as they visit regularly. Everybody whether they are regulars or first time clients are very important to us and we make them feel very welcome . if for any reason a client is not happy then they should not hesitate to let us know and we will deal with it in the appropriate manner . as for the person saying were are all bitchy and will no longer be attending the salon , with comments like that i guess you wont be missed ! read more

I used to go out my way from Swanland to have my nails done here on a weekly basis . I agree that theres a feeling of bitchiness in the air when you walk in . I could only say it were jealousy as im a professional woman who works in Design . I in general do get on with most people and do regard myself as being personable , some of the girls who worked there was difficult and i found it very uncomfortable when sat opposite someone who didnt want to spark up conversation . Ask for Kelly , she was rude and i can only assume that as she were a larger lady again that were jealousy. Donna was lovely but she sadly left whilst i were going - a younger buxom girl started and that was the final straw for me ; she took over when kelly left and she was a complete utter nasty bitch . I now visit a great professional salon on a weekly basis elsewhere and the girls are lovely . Saying that it is in an East Riding village where folk are educated and have manners !! wow!! isn't,everyone soooooo oppinionated!! i love going to the shop, it's my couple of hours off from being mum!! i enjoy the banter, it makes me feel at home, besides which, i get a great job done everytime i go, and as for 'shazza' saying it sells 'tat', i have bought that 'tat', does that mean i have no taste, because i begger to differ, yes freedom of speech is good, believe me i speak my mind, although personal, hurtful comments, are neither constructive nor relavent, we pay for a service, and after going for years, this in itself speaks volumes on the service provided. carry on with the good work girls, and remember, during these hard times, the reason you are still up and running is because you are all doing a bloody good job!!!! regards, shirelle ( i'd put a picture on, but haven't quite mastered that yet!!) read more
