I bought a $40 lightbulb for a bearded dragon that I was fostering for a rescue. It burned out in less than 24 hours. I went back to the store and explained what happened and they refused to take back the lightbulb or exchange it. I am out of work due to the shelter in place and I do not have another $40 to spend for this homeless animal that needs the bulb to survive. I have seen her at numerous pet stores promoting blue buffalo and she follows you around to try to get you interested in their products. Today I came in to look for a specific brand, she asked if I needed helped when I asked her about the other brand she snapped at me and said "I just told you! Grooming salon: I've had a pleasant experience with all the groomers who've worked on my dog. They've always done a great job, esp Maricela, and Liz when she's home for the summer but I'm dissatisfied with my appointment being canceled twice. And one of the groomers was late arriving when I got there on time. I overlooked that since she did a good job with my fluffy boy but I'm more annoyed with my appointment being canceled and then having to wait a bit longer for the rescheduled appointment. Maybe they should hire a "floater" groomer to pick up the canceled appointments so that people can still keep their planned time set aside for this and don't have to rearrange their schedules. I don't know, I really do like the girls there that have worked on my dog but it becomes an inconvenience when canceled appointments become a habit. read more

This place has fallen off dramatically. I've been taking my dogs to Petsmart grooming for years,both in Washington and here in Vacaville. They were awesome in Washington and they used to be good in Vacaville but not anymore. The past few times they disregarded what I asked them to do as far as styling my dogs hair but yesterday was really bad. We had to tell them to cut more off the dogs faces...again but on one of my dogs they basically scalped him on the chest and hindquarters. I made an appointment at Petsmart for my poodle to be groomed. Because I wanted a specific groomer, I waited three weeks to get the appointment with her. On the day of the appointment I discovered that the store manager had moved my appointment to another groomer and put two cats with my groomer. We had waited three weeks to get an appointment! Why is it that the cats couldn't wait three weeks? Why did they have priority? I spoke with the store manager, Crystal, and asked that she come to the grooming salon with me to speak to them. She said She would speak with them after I left. She told me that I was being aggressive and she didn't have to deal with me. Yes, I was upset. But I was upset because SHE changed my appointment. SHE kept walking away as I was trying to talk to her. Lousy customer service! The whole situation was handled badly. I will not go back to Petsmart. read more

Worst worst worst experience in the grooming department. I was taking my dog to her first grooming trip and ended up walking out before we even started. One of the ladies there was cussing and acting a complete fool in front of my 4 year old daughter. She kept complaining about leaving and cussing at the girls she was working with. She had a little dog on her table and lifted it with it's restraints on it and said "does anyone want to finish this f***in dogs hair so I can get the f*** out of here?" Right in front of my kid. She then started yelling at another young girl working there to hurry the f*** up so she could leave. I just looked over and said I was leaving. I've never seen a woman act so gross and in a place of business for that matter. My dog was scared out of her mind and my daughter was upset because she had been waiting all day to take her dog to her first bath. We went over to petco and got the best service from a young girl. My dog was wagging her tail so hard her butt was shakin. She came out perfect. I will never step foot in petsmart again and I highly doubt anyone I know will either. read more

I frequent this store often enough because my dog has gone to this location for Banfield services for the last 5+ years. I've never had an issue with Banfield and the staff in that department. I like this location in the sense that I've never had a problem with friendly staff and wide selection of products. I've never left not finding what I'm looking for. That being said, I did give this location 4 stars. I don't know what it is, but no matter how much I take my dog out to do his bathroom business before visiting this store, when I go into this location with my dog he always pees and poops in the same spot by a certain aisle. I prefer petsmart more than petco. It just sucks the closest location to Davis is the vacaville one :( I usually find really good deals at this location especially on wet dog food and hamster treats. Their staff are pretty knowledgeable on the products they sell and the animals. However, I did get this one cashier who was straight up rude and gave me hella 'tude as she was ringing me up because I asked if they could check to see if they had something in a different size. WTF isn't that suppose to be your JOB? After the rude cashier tried three times (and failed miserably) to do an inventory check, the manager came out and was able to check in about 2 seconds. Wow. I really didn't expect such great service from a big box store. I stopped in for some doggie stairs. The cashier greeted me, asked if I needed help, showed me some options in an aisle, asked more about my specific needs, showed me a couple more options high up on the wall, got one down, priced it for me, and carried it up front. So we got a dog not long ago (don't freak, he is a rescue from Lake County, and is pretty cool...) and we did a puppy training class here, great trainer, super nice staff, and the manager here is what sold me on the puppy training. My husband and I brought our dog (who has separation anxiety) in to get groomed today. Once we got there, Mikaela greeted us and brought our dog back. After a couple of hours, we went back to pick her up. Mikaela was amazing with our dog. She really took her time to make sure our dog was comfortable, and that she was getting a detailed grooming. She really cares about the animals she works on. Our dog was excited and really seemed to enjoy being with Mikaela when we picked her up. Not only will we be coming back to PetSmart for our grooming, we will definitely be requesting Mikaela as our permanent groomer. read more

I got tired of the poor customer service at the Petsmart Grooming Dept. in Daly City and decided to give this Petsmart a try. I have brought both of my dogs here on separate occasions and I am SO much happier with the customer service at this location. I have a pretty rambunctious 10 month old pup weighing 15 lbs. who doesn't like getting his nails clipped by us, so we try to take him to get them done professionally. We were in town the weekend that we were supposed to take him to our local Petsmart, so we tried to take him here. My dog has NEVER shown any sign of aggression towards any human, even when getting his nails clipped or vet visits. He's more nervous, shakes, and squeals more than anything. We took him first thing Saturday morning and were told that they "would not take him" because he was growling and being aggressive towards the groomer. Granted when taking him to our usual Petsmart, they put a muzzle on him (thinking, for their safety which is understandable and to tolerate his whining) and need two people because he tends to squirm. But our local Petsmart always gets the job done! And even if he isn't the best behaved, they have always been kind to us and friendly to our dog and has NEVER refused service. Yes, I know there are dogs that are potentially dangerous. And yes, I know that dogs can be conditioned to tolerate nail clipping, but what are groomers paid to do? Groom! And I would think that they would be trained to handle different personalities of different dogs. And what are we supposed to do until he does become conditioned? Wait for his nails to grow long enough to hurt or injure him? I don't think so. We thought we could go to this Petsmart for the health and safety of our pet and other people, but I guess not. We adopted a greyhound, Ella, about six months ago and have been bringing her here for her nail grinding and ear cleaning. Ella remembers the groomer and always goes right up to her, tail wagging. That Ella doesn't show any anxiety around here comforts me tremendously, and they seem to take great care of everyone's pets when I've watched them through the big window! I think the services are fairly priced, and the groomer's area has always been pretty clean. As far as the retail side of the store, we've found better prices and better selection here than at the Petco in VV on the items we've needed, but I'm a shopper, so make sure you do some price comparisons on what you need. I took my 2 dogs in this morning for an 8am grooming appt. We waited for over 45 minutes to be checked in. I understand that their computers were down, so I was very understanding, although the dogs were a little stressed from having to stand outside the salon for that long. It also appeared they had really overbooked the 8am slot. I checked them in (there was a lot of chaos in the salon - and massive attempts to upsell unnecessary services -and went home. Approximately 1 1/2 hours later, I get a call to come pick up one of the dogs because she has stress diarrhea, and is stress biting. This dog has never bitten a human and is the most mellow, quiet dog you'd want to meet. I told the grooming manager that this was unbelievable. She tried to say that this dog had never been groomed there - she has been there multiple times! She offered me a free haircut, and I told her we'd never be back. read more

I scheduled a grooming appointment for my dog when I went in there to bring her the grooming department was completely shut down they said they had called everybody to let them know which they did not call me, this was very upsetting to me that they closed and did not notify me. when speaking to the manager on duty while there in the store she told me she would give them my name and phone number and set the paper on their desk directly so when they come back in they can call me to reschedule, as of today nobody has still called me. but somehow I received a email notification saying my dog had an appointment that I was not even aware about when calling the store to try to find out what's going on the grooming department just left me on hold forever and ever and ever, bad vibe from this grooming department , very poor customer service and I definitely will not and don't feel comfortable bringing my dog here for grooming services anymore . read more

We love it here, and so does our dog Melo. We find that the prices are on the lower side compared to other stores. Our Dog Melo loves going through the toy section, We had training classes here and our Trainer Pat was awesome. You could tell she knew what she was doing. The think I really liked about this class was that it had a private area for the training. I have seen other non petsmart stores that just rope off a section. This is a "big box " store. It is reasonably new and in a strip mall where you can go to best buy, peets coffee etc all in one trip. The major difference between petsmart and pet co is simple, price. Petsmart is a bit cheaper and the supply is slightly different but not enough to go out of the way for. If you know what you want ie: fish food go to wal mart or target. If you are looking for something special (fish etc) then here is the place. Good helpful staff, good product. read more

I have taken my dog here and to the grooming department in Pet Co. and hands down the service is better at PetSmart. My dog is a chocolate lab so any lab owner will agree with me that they are a hyper and happy breed. Whenever I take her to the grooming dept at Pet Smart, they are always welcoming and understand that my dog will continue to be in her ecstatic state until she's 2 or 3. Bella Donna (my pup) loves coming here and always looks gorgeous and smells wonderful when she's finished with her bath appointment. If you have a dog that usually has a winter coat, take them here! We has one groomer take our 2 boxers in and was the same guy who called us to tell us they were done. It only took a couple hours too and the prices were awesome! $24 to wash our boxer- great deal! Do not come here. What an awful store. I very rarely write reviews but this absolutely needs to be said and hopefully will help anyone out there who might be considering adopting through them. On Friday, December 22nd, my husband and I went in to get some food for our cats. I generally avoid the cat adoption area like the plague cause I want to adopt every single one there. Husband always pulls me away but this time we found one we both fell in love with. A siamese lynx point, a sweet little thing who was just pining for love. We asked about her and if we could even just go in and pet her, she looked so sad in there. We were told "No, nobody is allowed in there and we aren't adopting any cats until after Christmas". Well that seems understandable. Don't want to just give out cats as presents, they want responsible owners. Makes sense. They tell us fill out an application online and you will have someone get back to you. Yesterday, the 23rd, I contact Pitter Patter Rescue (the rescue that was adopting her out through PetSmart) and ask a few questions regarding her. I submit the application online per the instructions I was given. Today, the 24th, Christmas Eve no less, I get an email form Pitter Patter Rescue saying that we were approved and telling me that I can adopt on Tuesday or if we are able, we can go and pick her up today. Well having seen how sad she looked on Friday we decided we didn't want her in there for a second longer and decided to go out into the horrible crowd on Christmas Eve to go get her. We arrive there and 'lo and behold, she isn't there. The same woman who told me Friday they weren't adopting out said she must have been adopted out. But how?, they told us that went against the holiday season adoption policy. I talk to the manager and am told in full transparency that they weren't going to adopt them out but they were told by corporate that they need too. I contact the rescue and she said she specifically told PetSmart to not adopt out until Tuesday. There were 4 maybe 5 other cats their from her rescue when I was there on Friday and all but one were gone. I'm not sure if she was applied to for them either but they were gone. An absolute gross mismanagement and miscommunication. Disgusting to do, we were very excited to adopt her and they just gave her away yesterday without a word even to her rescue. That's awful and I can't believe I would tear up but that's an absolute let down and you will never have my business again if that's how you treat customers. Be wary about adopting through PetSmart as they are liable to change their policy by a days notice. Or maybe just lie, who knows. But a truly terrible experience. Btw that took every ounce of me not to curse so you can't take this review down for foul language but believe me the keys on my keyboard are probably broken from how viciously I am typing this out. I called the store to advise them that I did in fact have an appointment with Christina and was put on hold multiple times for a total of 8 minutes. I called to schedule and appointment and the woman who answered the phone said they were booked for the week. I didn't believe her so called the 800 number to book my appointment. I love Petsmart, I have been going ever since it opened in the Nut Tree and even more when we got out bulldog 5 years ago. We took the puppy training classes and buy his food and collars and harness there, training treats, Bones everything but the groomer. However it isn't their fault, he hates strangers touching his paws. I can do it all day long but he moves too much to really clip his nails so now he has to get them done at the vet with a muzzle just to be calming. Love the groomers service! I have a Maltese Yorkie and his bath, Haircut and ear cleaning cost $40. Same price I paid at Petco but I definitely get my money's worth with this service. Paula was my groomer and she was very fast with his service and my dog came out very happy and she did a great job. Highly recommend making an appointment 3-4 days ahead of time.
