Horrible grooming but good customer service. I went to the groomers since my dog was a baby and now she's 4. The past few visits they keep cutting her eyelashes. I asked multiple times for them to stop and they just did it anyway. Last time I went and got my dog, I ended up going back. One of my dogs eyelashes was completely cut off and the other was half gone. I spoke with a manger and she was extremely understanding. She gave me a full refund, even though I didn't have a receipt with me. Still, I'd not take my baby there to get groomed. I love the store itself. read more

I bring my 2 small dogs to this location. I have tried many other places and no one is a good as this location. Jamie and Stacey are the groomers and they are the BEST. they take such great care of my dogs. Especially since my poodle mix, Sweetie is about 11 years old and very set in her ways...and my little Tibetan Spaniel Buster, is a rescue dog and can become frightened quite easily. Both groomers love working with the dogs and they do such a great job. I appreciate them so very much. read more

Terrible terrible dog hotel. Staff doesn't care, they aren't professionals, they are rude, they offered me to cancel my reservation the day before because i wasn't comfortable leaving my dogs with them. Definitely read their boarding agreement before signing it. They aren't responsible for your dog at any situation even if its clearly their fault. Has never been so disappointed with a company before. Fortunately found another place in the last minute where they took a good care of my dogs so I could sleep at night. read more

My dog has stayed overnight, and about once or twice a month is at the doggie day care. With one apparent exception, the attendants are very caring, competent, and service-oriented. Today I walked in at around 10AM, with an update on vaccinations and questions about boarding the dog over te Christmas holidays. The one attendant, I don't know the name, but she is very heavyset, briefly said hello and then turned and went into a discussion with two others, I believe employees, one of whom seemed to be an office type. I waited at the desk, while the three continued their discussion just outside the desk area, for a full 5 minutes, ignored, with absolutely no acknowledgement for my presence. Then as I walked out, brushing past the group of three occupying the walkway, I was still utterly disregarded. It only takes one bad experience to wipe out a good impression. Or "one bad apple to spoil a barrel". As a root cause, I see deficiency in the leadership ability and/or team building by this facility's management. I will copy this to PetSmart's internal review process if I can find it. read more

Nickeled and dimed.... I'm new to the area and this was my first time bringing my 8-lb Shi-Poo for grooming to this location. The groomers said that my dog was bigger than they initially stated. So, they charged me more and added extraneous fees including an up charge for the weekend although it was a Friday morning. In the end, the grooming was okay, but I'll never go back. read more

This is more specifically aimed at their grooming. Make an appointment with notes about surgery and a cast, drive out of the way to find out that they can't do anything with a cast (could've called if they read the notes). They tell you if you're coming for a "puppy trim" you don't need an appointment. Disclaimer: Come back at least 2 days after any shots (No disclaimer on WHICH shots). Come back when the cast off, for a "puppy trim" and get asked "if I made an appointment" that was the first red flag. They ask when she got her raibes vaccine and she hasn't because she just turned 5 months and I was told not to get the rabies until at least 6 months. So again, wasted my time. They did not give that information nor does the website specify the length of time for specific shots. So... needless to say I will not be taking my puppy back there. And for anyone else... have fun playing a guessing game of whether or not your puppy can be seen that day! read more

Wanted to drop my dog for doggie day camp but didn't because the manager was absolutely rude and acted as if she didn't want us there because we hadn't called in advance. It was going to be my first time out of many but have decided not to bring her to this location because I wouldn't trust a person with that attitide to take good care of my dog. We went to PetSmart South Hill mall in Puyallup, WA last weekend to have our dog groomed. This was the second time we brought our dog there for grooming. We told the groomer to not cut his hair too short. When we went to pick him up 3 hrs later, I was really surprised when I saw home almost shaved. They told me he has a lot of matted hair on his chest and they had to cut it uniform around his body. Our dog looks really terrible and when we took him home he is behaving a little strange. He is not responsive at all when we call his name and he keeps licking his groin area. We noticed its been red. We have to put an ecollar on him so he would stop licking it. This has been the worst experience we have with PetSmart. I dont know what they did to my dog. I have read similar stories on this blog about their dog behaving strangely after grooming. If you care about your pet PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THEIR GROOMING SERVICES. I will have to find another private grooming service elsewhere. I have to guess that he has been abused by the groomer. I hope my dog recovers from this and will be back to his usual self. read more

had both our dogs in the pet hotel this past week. Not sure if we will do this again though. Both times we have now; the dogs come home, do not eat for several days and are EXTREMELY dehydrated when we return. Do they not get water there? Not to mention the rudeness of one of the associates there (second time too) think we will shop around before our next out of town adventure. Also, was told they take the pets out to go to the bathroom; lie. I see here they take them to some inside room there. Well; our dogs are so well potty trained to not go indoors; so why would they there? On the report they give you (same stuff too) said our dog was old? He is 14 mos. Last week I brought my dog in to doggie day care. I was nervous as a dog mom to leave him there. The people that worked there were AMAZING! They brought me to the back play room to watch how my dog played with the other dogs. The girls that worked there made me feel at ease! My favorite part is when they were happy to see my dog. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PRECIOUS PET TO THIS LOCATION!! I took my small Shih-Tzu there for grooming, (e.g. Grooming, nails, etc.) Unfortunately, this was a month ago and didn't get the incompetent groomer's name that I was working with. My appointment was at 12pm., Incompetent groomer took my Shih-Tzu and put her in the back room (Who knows what's back there?), and then came back to the front, where she proceeded to socialize with other groomers. Keep in my mind, I am observing her throughout the store and outside the store through their window. Incompetent groomer finally went back at 2:30pm to retrieve my dog and brought her to the front station area to commence the grooming. Again, Incompetent groomer socializes with other groomers. At 3:00pm. she finally decided to attend to my poor, long awaiting dog. I checked in at 4:00pm., spoke with incompentent groomer, and she stated that my dog would not stay still and ended up cutting her paw to the point where incompetent groomer had to consult with a Vet, who, stopped the bleeding. I went back outside and observed her until 4:30pm. where I finally got the incompetent groomer's call that my Shih-Tzu was finally done from her horrific experience. You may have had a different experience than I - good or bad, but this is what I experienced with this particular groomer. To be fair...and I say this loosely, I know not all of the Pet Smart Groomers located at this Puyallup location (Across from Walmart), are not as careless and incompetent as the one I worked with, because I have had a couple good experiences with this location. I took my Shih-Tzu to a different groomer (not a chain) where the experience was a complete 360 of customer care and compassion. My dog looked better and seemed to be more at ease when I went to pick her up. PATRONS.....If you cherish your pet and want complete care, STAY FAR AWAY, and patronize a different PetSmart, or, research other groomers, with great reviews! read more

I was extremely disappointed in this PetSmart. Since moving I've had to start using this as my new "local pet store." I called in to ask a simple question and immediately they put me on hold, which is totally fine. Until I was on hold for 10 minuets! When Lena answered the phone I re-asked my question since It had been a while. Lena yelled "HOLD ON!" while in the middle of my sentence, then put me back on hold. I work in customer service and they have no patience for their customers what so ever. I'd rather spend more money at Mud Bay where I KNOW I will be treated better. read more

I took my cat to the pet hotel for 3 days. She had a spot in the back which I didn't care for . So I asked if she could be in space where there is a window to look out . She seemed to like it. Re: cat grooming A huge waste of my time and put a great deal of stress on my cats!! First off, they only groom cats Mondays from 7-9AM or Fridays in the afternoon.Not too convenient. One of my cats gets some very itchy bumps from time to time that are resolved by a bath. She had a serious outbreak of these itchy bumps, and I wanted her bathed as soon as possible, but due to PetSmart's limited availability on cat grooming, I had to wait a week. The day of the appointment, I round up my 2 cats ( my second cat could use a grooming too) and they are all stressed out about being in a carrier. One of my cats gets car sick, and did throw up on the way over. I haul the cats into the store. Again stressful on the cats as they are surrounded by noise and people they don't know. When I'm checking them in, I'm asked if either one had a heart murmur. I said that one of them did. I was told that it was their policy NOT to groom cats with heart murmurs. WHAT!?!? I was not asked about heart murmurs when I made the appt. Thanks for wasting my time. Since they refused to bathe my one cat, I cancelled the appt for my other one as I was sure as heck that they were not getting any of my business. My itchy cat had to wait another 5 days until she could be groomed by a vets office in Sumner. I had to put my cats through another stressful car trip again. Yes, my one cat did get car sick on the way over to the vets - which, by the way, is 3 times the distance for us to drive. read more

I absolutely love Petsmart and their Doggie Day Camp!!! My dog is so much more tired after spending the day here than she was at another day care. The groups for camp are small enough that the employees can pay a lot of attention to all of the dogs (they even keep track of how many times each dog goes to the bathroom) and they usually give me a report card when I pick my dog up that lets me know who she played with and if she ate her food or not. They provide food for no additional charge which is great if I forget to bring it and the whole place is very clean. Definitely worth the drive to bring my dog here! read more

Do not, I repeat...do NOT bring your dog here to be bathed. For $60, I picked my bulldog up with the same odor I dropped him off with and uncleaned facial folds. I paid extra for the "Furminator" treatment but he still has hair flying everywhere. The excuse was "we got a lot of walk-ins". So you're telling me that my appointment deserves a rush job? When I attempted to show the groomer what was wrong, she turned it around on me and accused me of improperly caring for my fur baby. Moral of the story, if you want an extremely expensive nail grinding....this is your spot. read more

This petsmart location is the best one I have been to by far. It is clean and the staff is friendly. They offer boarding and grooming and of course all of your pet needs, including Banfield. I had such a wonderful visit with Banfield and Petsmart last month that I told all of my friends and family about it. The two companies work so well as a team and seem to know each other very well. For being two corporations, they really operate as a small mom and pop shop. read more

I took my cat here for shaving and was quoted a particular price. The groomer told me they like to have cats out by 11, so if I could pick her up by 11 that would be good. I got hung up at a doctor's appointment and couldn't make it, so I called to let them know. I was told, no problem. When I picked her up, I was told that I was being charged an extra $14 for being late. There was never any mention of any such charge, even when I called to let them know I would be late. I don't like being blindsided like that. She also charged me an extra $7 because they needed an extra pair of hands to hold her for a couple of minutes. That seems pretty ridiculous to me, and I have never encountered this kind of charge before. This cat is 7 years old and we shave her twice a year, and nobody has ever charged us extra for such a petty thing. We will not be back. Groomer's name was Diane, by the way. I recently took my Golden Retriever in for the first time to get groomed. Online when you book the appointment it lists everything that will be included with the bath. First off, there was no list of things to mark off to select for the grooming portion online or when I got there to the petsmart. The only thing that I was asked was if I wanted his teeth cleaned and his toenails dremalled and if we treated him already with flea and tick stuff. It took over three hours and then I got a phone call from them stating that my dog had a toenail break because they were so long and they had to take him to the vet clinic inside of the petsmart to be seen due to it bleeding so bad which I already knew there was no way because I trim his toenails regularly so I automatically assumed they had clipped a quick or something trimming his toenails. I was in the parking lot already so I rushed in there only to find out it wasn't my dog. They had gotten another golden retriever confused with my dog. Then they hand me the paperwork to go pay for it and then brought him out for me. With everything that had just happened I was flustered and just took him out to the car. When I went to get him out of the car that's when I realized, there was no trimming of his hair around his feet or his ears. There was still small mats of hair behind his ears which I took care of when I got home. I called the manager this morning and spoke with her and at first she said that no, that stuff isn't included until I read her what was said on the booking website. Then the story changed to, "well some people don't like us doing that so were supposed to ask." Well no one asked me and if I am a new customer how am I supposed to know? I basically paid about 40 bucks for them to wash my dog and blow dry him. They said I could bring him back and they will do his feet for me but its still disappointing to know this how the business is run. I doubt I will be bringing my dog back there for any further grooming after they trim his feet. I felt like it was very disorganized. read more

this is a review due to the event they sponser for pet adoption...and yes they are involved they give you a class before you are allowed in to see pets for adoption....we went to an event...aweful experience ...we found a pet to adopt so we thought...one of the rescues collar of hope is the worst place ever to deal with...we applied for a pet...they wanted to come to our home set up a apt then never showed up never called , after several calls and emails..later they email back saying the car broke down dang i waited hours before calling theres no way you could of called...the lady questioned us for a long time at the event then after days of not knowing i email again...she finally calls me in our conversation she is very short and demeaning , incinuating we wouldn't be energetic enough for the dog ..excuse me that's not so...we have had dogs almost all our lives we aren't first time owners..anyways they were horrible she said she was making sure i was responsible ..but i was here for apt ,i called , i emailed ...she didn't show , didn't call , like whos the responsible one..hmm my husband had gotten off early to see how the dog would like our property...i had emailed this to her , she never even acknowledged what i told her...truly they aren't in it for the dogs...some other agenda but she will not demean me and treat me disrespectful...i was just don't after days of her no contact and rude behavior..i suggest they don't let this rescue back to their events.. read more
