This is despite the fact that the Neon Tetra (a small, easy to keep fish) is a shoaling species that needs to be kept in groups of at least 6! The first half of the store is dominated by all things aquatic - plants, fish, food, aquarium tanks, outdoor ponds and large water tanks at the back, housing a wide variety of fish. As you move through the shop, there are hamster cages, pet food, bedding, books, magazines and of course animals to buy, like hamsters etc. It is such a large place, with such an impressive variety, if you can't get the item you need here, I would be surprised. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, and on the whole the prices are competitive, apart from the niche products stocked in smaller quantities like hamster cages, that could double for 'Tracey Island' - they seem a little on the expensive side. I freaked out and ran down to the pet centre to ask for help on this unpleasant issue. The staff were friendly and did not try to oversell products in an attempt to increase their profit margins. I was sold a spray, a flea comb and a solution to rub into my kitten's skin and fur. Two days later and my kitten is flea free. Thank You Kings Heath Pet Centre. They also have goods for all types of pets and animals, ranging from dogs to your more exotic pets. It is also a great place to bring the kids if you have any. The Cockatoo is one of my main reasons for coming here on un-cat related issues. He/She will quite happily mimic your words if you don't mind looking a little bit silly in front of the other customers. Kings Heath Pet Centre also sells your regular supplies such as litter and food pouches. Their prices are competitive with the larger supermarkets that have the pleasure in buying in vast stock quantities. If you own a pet and live in the vicinity, then Kings Heath Pet Centre is the place for you.

There is a wide range of products for each type of pet, all of my cat and guinea pig needs were well catered for. The staff are friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonable. My main reason for visiting the pet centre was always to see the cute animals, especially the furry little bunny rabbits! *Awww* So cute! For instance teeth - I had been giving Ricky Martin the dental chews from the big chain pet stores in the US and UK every night. But what they pointed out to me (which I knew!) was that they were packed with carbs and so are they really helpful in the long run for your pets teeth (carbs - sugar - decay!) - answer likely not. The recommendation was a "treat" comprising dried fish skin in crunchy format. No carbs, and robust thin slivers of fish scales that are forced between the teeth and help remove plaque. Since Ricky refuses to eat food with fish in it I was very skeptical- but right there in the store he crunches that thing to oblivion. Bought and bag and every night he loves it! So he presumably gets some omega-3's too. Nice! The two lady owners (Lynn and Sarah) are the BEST! In terms of customer service and as dog sitters they are awesome. They have an array of stock for all pets and reptiles, including bedding, cages/homes for the pet, food and general dried goods. One of the really great things about this store is that the staff genuinely know what they are talking about, they are full of advice and information to suit all pet owners. They also have some books too, which is useful if you if you are thinking about getting a pet. It is quite impressive in comparison to the bigger chain pet stores that are around and it is also so much cheaper!
