Such an awesome experience to walk around and find the treasures that the Elders of the island have left for us.

5-star service I contacted Tyee Travel in 2019 to book a…read moresmall boat cruise in SE Alaska as part of a 3-week trip in 2020. Marjy helped me narrow down options to find the best fit for me and handled the booking. For the land portion, I told her the things I wanted to do, locations I wanted to visit. She worked out the details, booked lodging, guided hikes, and other activities. I was all set to sail in August 2020 and then covid hit. I decided to postpone a year. Marjy contacted all the vendors. When the cruise line set their 2021 schedule, she re-booked everything for August 2021. In June, the isolated community I was going to visit to see polar bears canceled all tours because of the lingering pandemic. (Understandable.) Marjy was able to get me booked on an Arctic flightseeing trip instead. In late July, the cruise line reported a problem with the ship that couldn't be repaired in time due to part supply chain issues. They offered me a different cruise, but a day shorter. It also sailed from Juneau instead of Ketchikan. Marjy coordinated with the cruise line to get me from Ketchikan to Juneau, and then lodging in Juneau, and Sitka. While on the cruise, with no access to internet or cell phone, the Denali Park road was suddenly closed for the season and my planned backcountry stay canceled. She reached out to the cruise line to connect with me, found me last minute lodging near the Denali park entrance on Labor Day weekend. She made suggestions and then booked other activities to make up for the canceled backcountry trip. I really would have been stuck without her handling the logistics while I was still on the cruise. If you are planning an Alaska adventure, who you work with makes a difference. I'll note that some of my fellow passengers heading for Denali after the cruise did not hear from their agents about the backcountry closures while on the cruise. I'm not sure if they were able to find other lodging close to the park. I'm thinking of a spring time trip to Alaska in a few years. I will definitely use this agency for the trip.
