We had to take a detour back south from Prince Albert National Park instead of continuing to northern Manitoba. We were sad we'd lose a few hours of driving time so we decided to phone a few places in Prince Albert and booked a late afternoon appointment. By chance, we decided to stop in the first shop we didn't call to see way their wait time was. The owner told us we could come back right after lunch (perfect, we were going to eat anyway) and they'd take a look once mechanics were back from their break. We couldn't see or hear anything in the tire so we were expecting to have to replace the two rear tires (if you don't know, you can't replace one tire if there's less than ¾ of the tread on the opposite tire). Our tires are fairly new and we switch for winter, so they're definitely not worn. The mechanic took us in directly after lunch as promised and quickly found a nail that was hidden. He got us in and out in 20 minutes! The best part was not only the speed, but the price! We paid $25 to fix our tire and we were back to our road trip hours before we expected. If you need reliable, friendly and quick service, this is the place to go!

We talked to about a dozen custom van build companies, and Mitch and Steven were not only well-versed in the specifications of all the onboard systems we desired -- they were excited about taking on a large build. Many companies in the "vanlife" space are not interested in building a van with a black tank, appliances beyond a small frig, full insulation, etc. We are very happy that we chose Paved to Pines for our build. Despite the distance (we are from the US), the COVID-19 wrinkle and associated challenges, communication was great throughout the build process. Some items needed to be changed, some added/removed based on our desires, availability of products and shipping due to COVID. PtoP was never rattled when things went sideways with a shipping delay or product change, giving us both good news and bad, adapting the build as required to stay on schedule and with the high quality expected. We have now been traveling in our new van for a few months, and we love its beauty, comfort and off-grid capabilities. We have had a few issues along the way, as is to be expected, and PtoP has been working with us to get everything corrected. It has not been easy with the border closed, but they are certainly standing behind their work and their warranty.
