You want real Dutch food experience, this is your place. we got the potato cheese ball as appetizer and Irish whiskey to wake us up. The building was historic and has huge character. The plates on the wall is great for your travel pics. we Sauerkraut with sausage, which was very tasty!!! Incredibly rude owners/staff. Walked in as a family on a Saturday evening to an empty restaurant and rude welcome. That should have been the first sign. We wanted to start with a local beer and the lady taking our order demanded to know if we were going to order food. We said yes, but we were still discussing since we had only been seated for 7-8 minutes. That answer wasn't good enough for her and she said: "Well, are you or are you not. We're not a bar." We just got up and left. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but seems to align with other reviews about attitudes towards customers. We would have ordered over 100 Euros worth of food, but ended up at better places. Everywhere else we visited in Amsterdam was great- gracious and welcoming people. read more

Customer service. We walked around the area for 30" deciding where we would go for lunch. The establishment was empty. The gentleman there was so rude at each interaction, we were not welcomed. We left before we were able to place an order. There are a lot of other places in the area that was welcoming and happy to have our business. read more

I usually do not leave a review and I hate to give a terrible rating but this needs to be done. Service was very rude and made fun of the way I ordered food. I wanted to make sure I ordered in time before the kitchen closed. When I did this, the server acted like I was acting out of line. I got the steak there and it was terrible, no seasoning and the quality was terrible. The French fries were good and the garlic sauce was good. But all around the service was rude. I totally understand that it was the end of the day but we spend well over $100 for the meal. If anything go here early and maybe they'll be nicer. I honestly didn't have time to post the pictures of my meals but you'll have to take my word for it. read more

Cozy Dutch themed space with friendly staff. We ordered the traditional Dutch sauerkraut and sausage. Very nice. Good value.

Eh. Just eh. Cute decor but the food was completely bland. With menus in every language I feel like this was a bit of a tourist trap. I ordered the wienerschitzel with the fries and a salad. The fries looked like they were straight out of a frozen bag and the main portion of food was dry and really only tasted like oil and fryer. Nice small restaurant on several floors: if you look for the toilet, go on the first floor, then upstairs (2nd) to see the toilet door, behind which you have other stairs to climb! Be careful if you have children. The mushroom soup was creamy and delicious, the shrimp salad was ok, and the smoked salmon was served with capers, very tasty. Finally te apple pie was just like we wanted: not too sweet, excellent with the vanilla ice cream. Have a break! read more

We started with the smoke eel which was something completely different than anything I've ever had and it was excellent. The restaurant was appealing in its quant setting and offering authentic Dutch cuisine. However, the two running the restaurant were having a loud intense discussion above our heads on the second floor. It was impossible to have dinner conversation with all their banter.
