It doesn't seem as busy and it feels more like Mexico than many of the urban areas. This market is a part of what gives the area its charm. Because coyoacan is the home of Frida Kahlo, Coyoacan is known to be home to many artists. While I didn't see that on a Tuesday afternoon, I hear the weekends and nights are more lively. This market full of local vendors, but a lot of what's here is touristy souvenirs that aren't cheap. Was considering rating this 3 stars as I couldn't find anything I really wanted to buy; however I do think it's an essential part of the local flavor

It has dozens of vendors selling clothing, pottery, shoes, leather, souvenirs, tchotchkes, etc.! If you're looking for a place to buy some souvenirs, check this market out. It's a little crowded, but if you want a place to really browse and find some treasures - it's worth it!
