I have not been this store for over a year because there is never anyone to help you. No customer service at all. I needed food for saltwater fish. As always the tanks were full on algae hair, bubble and brown carpet algae. While checking out i asked why they cant keep tanks clean. I was told that's the way the should be. It was good algae. I have had saltwater tanks for over 15 years. That is ridiculous who would want to tank in their home so filthy. I have shopped in other stores for saltwater fish and have never seen tanks like that my purchase of fish food on the counter I wouldn't even buy it from them because of their attitude. I was able to find everything I wanted for my new Kitty. Wow! Prices have definitely gone up. A covered litter box was $55! It was huge (it took a full 28 lbs of Kitty Litter.) I did find a comparable Kitty Litter box online for about $10 cheaper, however, I was ready to use it and I decided convenience was worth $10! read more

Took my dog for basic wash service. Was told price was $28 plus tax. When I went to pay I was charged an extra $5.99 for material fee. When I asked what this was for I was told shampoo?? Shouldn't that be included in basic pkg? And no you can not bring your own product to avoid this fee. This is definitely false advertising!!! Would not have tipped groomer if I had known about this 'extra' cost. Make sure you ask for receipt so you can see how much they are ripping you off. Will bathe him myself from now on. read more

Was referred to Mr. Ben by an associate. Brought for a bath and he was so quick and had our GoldenDoodle looking handsome and smelling good. Brought back for a cut and he did an excellent job! Highly recommend! Before I used Ben I took him to the other store down the road won't say any names but when I picked him up he was still wet with red eyes so Ben is our new go too. read more

After I adopted my puppy Dakota (3 months at this time) I went first to PetSmart to get some basic dog stuff. My last dog that I had died 2 years before I got Dakota so I had no dog supplies and I had to buy all new supplies. After I bought the majority of what I needed, I decided to take a swing by Petco just to see what they had. As soon as I enter the store I was greeted with a "Welcome to Petco!" from a happy and smiling worker. Not even ten steps into the store I was greeted by Ulanda (who soon became my dog trainer) with a "Welcome to the family" packet that had a lot of coupons and advice for you and your new pet. She also greeted my new puppy and even got down on the floor with her and gave her belly rubs and let Dakota give her kisses. Ulanda talked with me about the training services Petco offered and the package deal that they had. After talking with Ulanda, I walked around the store looking for more toys for Dakota and then something caught my eye. I saw many of the same products that PetSmart had at lower prices! I'm talking like $2-4 cheaper. I tales to Ulanda again and ended up signing up for the puppy level 1 and 2 package. It was a deal that I couldn't pass up. Twelve weeks of training plus the AKC puppy star test. What really sold me on the offer was that she ensured me that if my dog couldn't perform all the tasks that she was supposed to learn in the twelve weeks that she could keep coming to class until she learned them. I signed up for group classes but my two other peers only came to 2 classes and then had to reschedule for personal reasons. So I ended up having 10 weeks of private lessons. Ulanda is an amazing dog trainer. Dakota is a smart little dog and caught on to everything that we worked on. She even earned Ulanda's "Puppy of the Month" award. All of the employees at Petco are amazing. Every time I go into Petco they know Dakota and they greet her with scratches and kisses. Dakota finished her classes just last week and she passed her puppy star test!! Thanks to Ulanda and her great training. I would highly recommend this Petco's training to anyone who is looking for a trainer. And don't even get me started on their grooming services. They are wonderful!! Dakota is a medium to short length haired puppy (she's a blue heeler/husky mix) so she only goes in for a bath and nail trim, but she always comes out smelling wonderful and her nails looking all pretty. I would recommend asking for Ben or Aimee as your groomer because I have watch them both buff my dogs nails and they take extra precaution and do an excellent job on Dakotas nails. When Ben was bugging Dakotas nails, she was nervous and he told her it was gonna be okay and she started licking his face and he let her lick his face until he was done with her nails. Aimee is also a great groomer. I also saw her file Dakotas nails and she took her time and didn't rush. If she saw that Dakota was hassling, she would stop for a minute and calm her down and then continue once Dakota settled down. Also, Petco's reward system is really great. For every 100 reward points, you get a $5 off coupon to use in the store. For every dollar you spend, you get 1 reward point. Those points add up quickly when you are raising a new puppy. Overall, I would highly recommend Petco to anyone who has a pet. I've had such an amazing experience with this store and even the company. When I tried logging in to my online account the first time, I couldn't access my Pals Rewards account (which is where you go to see how many points you need till your next coupon or if you have any coupons). So I emailed customer relations and the quickly replied and fixed the problem. Also one time I had $50 in coupons (which is what you can get if you sign up for training during one of their specials) which wasn't working when I tried to check out one time. So I emailed them again and they resolved the problem once more. So if you are looking for a pet store with they friendliest workers and great prices. This Petco store is for you!! read more

This Petco has constantly let me down with the WORST grooming job. I'm never taking my puppy here again!

The petco location in Houma is a decent store. They carry my dog's brand of kibble. As far as their other animal specialties I do not recommend them for the purchase of fish, most of the tanks clearly have sick and dead fish in them. Some of the staff are very knowledgable and some are not, so that is hit or miss in my opinion. They do offer full service grooming and obedience training. If you particiapate in the petco pals card you recieve 5$ in pals rewards to spend at petco for every 100$ you spend. The store is my primary stop for all animal needs. There is a nice variety of food choices for cats and dogs. Great selection overall. read more

Awful experience the 2 times I've brought my dog there. The 1st time the lady in the grooming salon said that she could not grind my dog's back paws because "he wouldn't let her" but I just find that funny because I took my dog to the Baton Rouge Petco location for over a year and they never told me that they couldn't do his back paws with the grinder, they were always able to get it done. The 2nd time I brought him to get his nails trimmed and on the website it states that nail trimming is a WALK-IN SERVICE, so I did not call and make an appointment due to that. However, when I get there the same lady is working from my previous experience and she asks me if I have an appointment, I explained to her that I just need his nails trimmed and that I did not make an appointment due to the website saying it is a walk-in service. She then tells me that she does not have any openings until Wednesday and that she was the only one working today. The website should not say that it's a walk-in service if it isn't, it isn't my problem that she was the only one there, and you're telling me that she couldn't take the 10 minutes that it takes, if that long, to trim his nails? Needless to say, I left and brought him to Petsmart and got his nails trimmed and GRINDING (which she previously stated that he wouldn't let her do) and to add to that at petsmart they had 3 other dogs being service and still were able to take care of my dog. Never will be back to PetCo. read more
