I always bring my pup here for grooming and receive awesome personalized care. My pup loves her grooming time and we are always pleased with how thorough the groomers are. They show their love for dogs in the care and treatment they provide. Sierra is very awesome, always cheerful and friendly and she thoroughly explains everything that will be done in the grooming package. Terrible Service, were rude. Are not specific on the requirements of your dogs vaccines. They require a whole written letter by vet indicating what the vaccine is for when it's expires and all this other non sense. Be clearer on your vaccination requirements. Waste of time. read more

On 08-25-2020 at 12:15 pm I went to the Petco on Westport Ave in Norwalk CT to pick up a few Guppies. I spent about ten minutes in the fish section waiting for someone to show up to help me. I saw one woman on the register and about seven other workers walking around the store. Despite the fact that every employee looked at me and that I was also the ONLY customer in the store, no one was interested in helping me to make my purchase. I then walked to the young blond woman at the register and asked if she could have someone help me purchase some fish. She told me she would. I returned to the fish section and waited for another five minute. Again several employees walked past me and looked at me but, as before, no one had any interest in assisting me. It's nice that this store has so many employees. It was painfully clear that none of them were too busy to help a customer- especially when the only way to buy a fish is if an employee gets it for you! The customer service at this store is the worst I have ever seen! I give it a negative star rating because there IS no customer service! read more

We used to use Petco's grooming services with our previous dog before remodeling took place and except of the long time my dog had to spend there waiting for grooming we didn't have any other complaints. We were always happy with the services. 2 weeks ago we brought our new dog for grooming. She spent 4.5 hrs there, we got called she was ready to be picked up but when we came she wasn't even nearly half way done. Our dog is husky woolly, very fluffy and needs a lot of brushing. She wasn't even half way brushed, still a lot of undercoat left, she wasn't dried properly and started smell bad the next day. I am not going to mention that she wasn't trimmed at all. We paid over $100 with tip for washing and brushing and trimming. Unfortunately I paid the tip before they brought her to us. So then they said they did not finish so we need to come back. The only problem was they were booked for 2 weeks in advanced. Once the time of the 2nd visit came, they called to reschedule because the groomer didn't show up for work. I am still upset about this whole experience every time I look at my dog. I had to look for another groomer to finish the job petco didn't finish and had to pay another $100. My dog is terrified of the groomer so just the fact I had to put her through so much stress two times this month makes me double mad. My regular mobile groomer does beautiful job on my dog in maximum 3 hours and petco couldn't do it in almost 5hrs. Due the covid-19 we were forced to use Petco. Maybe they remodeled but customer service of the grooming dept didnt keep up to the look of the store. Just the fact that I wrote this review means the bad experience reached the limits. Soo mad. went to this petco on 09.19.17. i immediately was greeted by staff, i really loved that. they helped me find what i needed for my new puppy.....sweater, leash, collar, harness, etc. but!!!!! i wouldn't by any dog food there because while i was speaking to another customer she looked down and her eyes were wide open!!! i saw what what she saw and was appalled!!! i thought it was a baby mouse! but it wasn't. it was a fat 2.5 inch roach!!!!! i an not exaggerating!!!!!! i can handle mice , but not roaches!!! told the store, said "they know, and they're working on it." so everyone i suggest that you not buy food there unless you want to bring home those filthy critters!!! because once you get them in or around your home they're extremely difficult to get rid of. so sorry petco. you really need to fumigate!! and i am not talking roach traps, i'm talking full on exterminator, with orange oil or something !!!!! read more

If it was possible to give negative stars, I would. Stopped by Petco to get a ceramic heater, which are fifty dollars there compared to fifteen at the reptile store. I looked at their reptiles and some are in horrible condition, it was close to closing time and the bearded dragon's UVB light was still on, the poor thing was trying to cram himself into the corner in order to get some sleep and he was covered in stress lines. They also have a dying leopard gecko with a rotting tail and others heading towards the same fate. I alerted the staff and they said their animals are "well taken care of". Yeah right. If I had the space and set ups, I would buy them all just so they wouldn't have to live in such deplorable conditions. read more

Had to return dog food as puppy had an adverse reaction. Cashier noticed I had used 20% new puppy coupon and advised to call customer service number so that they could provide a replacement. Customer service conversation was a complete joke. I explained why I was calling and the person asked me about 4 times if I was calling about dog training, my receipt, my return, anything except the issue at hand. After 35 minutes on the phone she came back on the line and said I was not due a coupon because supposedly I was refunded a larger amount than was due!? What? Receipt she was looking at and had reviewed with the Escondido store manager clearly states $1.27 paid per can of dog food and $1.27 refunded, I even returned less cans than purchased. I asked to speak with a manager, was shoved on another 15 minute hold, then told no manager, then another 10 minute hold and a supervisor came on and just said they can't do anything as this is Petco customer service and they don't provide coupons. I'm sorry, am I not calling Petco or is this a different company? is it so difficult to e-mail a coupon? Over 50 minutes of time wasted and being accused of getting more money back than was owned. Not sure what Petco considers appropriate customer service or appropriate hold times. Petco is great until you have a problem with your order or ask for an issue to be fixed. read more

I have three words for Petco. Customer Service Training. The prices are right, but I am inclined to drive the extra 5 miles to PetSmart for my pet product procurement. It is rare you to find a smiling face on an employee, especially at the register and I have never once been approached by an associate asking if I needed assistance. During one visit to the new store in Lemon Grove / LaMesa, I saw one of the managers with hundred dollar bills sticking out of his shirt pocket while cashiering. That screams, "Please rob my store." That kind of behavior can place your customers in harm's way as well. Come on SD Petco Stores, you have an entire baseball stadium with your name on it. Stop making the Padres look so bad. read more

After 5 minute hold man came on and was short when he explained it would be 20 minutes. Makes me feel good knowing my dog was locked up in a place that they could literally forget about him for 2 hours plus that it would take them 20 minutes to rush through his grooming appt. Really disappointed in this Petco. We used to drive all the way out here from Encinitas just for the fish selection, as it always has been amazing and the tanks are so well kept....... What happened, Petco? We went in the the tanks were absolutely FILTHY. The salt water is depressing, hair algae is taking over. Corals are getting bleached out, fish aren't with proper tank mates.... This location used to be good but then they started a store remodel and have been a dust pit ever since. Petco allows you to bring your dog with you while you shop but with a ton of construction dust on the floor why would you? I purchase Under the Sun Small Breed dog food from Petco and have for over 2 years. I was told by the rude floor employee that they will no longer be carrying Under the Sun products and "oh well, change food or look someone else." I will not be returning to this store. read more

First of all I just got a new bunny and wanted to halter/leash train her. I called around no one could help me. I am not going to say anything negative about the other Pet stores, because, well, you know that's bad Karma in my book. However lucky me got ahold of someone who could finally help me, knew what I wanted over the phone and held it for me. Her Name is Bethany. She was off the day that I came in but she told me to see Eric. And guess what? I got exactly what I needed. The store itself is like any other Petco (my pet store of choice), but this review specifically is for the puppy training. I bought the first set of puppy classes for my chihuahua puppy. I believe it is either 6 or 8 weeks long, one hour a week. Our trainer, Linda, has helped us so much with him! He was very scared of other puppies and dogs in the beginning but now he is very sociable. He knows how to sit, lay down, stay, and roll over. He also loooooooooves "Auntie Linda"! I will definitely be continuing with his training there. I believe each 6 or 8 week package is $130 but around Christmas I was able to get a deal for $99. They randomly have deals on their training packages. It's well worth the money, in my opinion. Tonight is Gibson's graduation! read more

Plenty of parking and they have good shopping carts. Sales Associate John, #19 according to the receipt was friendly and helpful the minute I walked thru the door. Other associates don't even look your way to see if you need help. The store is pretty nice. They do not have enough Fancy Feast Classic (pate') on the shelves. I bought all five cases. There may have been 1-2 remaining. The prices are kind of high but I had a gift card. Lucky for me the same associate, John #19 (according to receipt) was at the register and was friendly and professional. He bagged my purchases up nicely in my reusable bags and seemed appreciative and genuinely interested to know that cats couldn't consume gravy because they cannot process carbohydrates like dogs and humans. Do not bother making an appointment at grooming. It does absolutely nothing. Dogs are checked in first come first serve including any walkins. If you need to use their grooming services just bring your dog In whenever. Also be prepared for a possible 4 hour wait time even if you just want your dog washed or brushed. We were also charged for services not provided because they "didn't know how to deduct selected items from packages because of their computer system." Overall I would recommend getting your dog groomed elsewhere. If you need to use them set half of your day aside if you have to wait there. read more

I would like to thank Elizabeth the aquarium specializes at Petco. She has been super helpful on getting my freshwater aquarium started. Elizabeth is very knowledgeable and listens to the customers concerns before giving advice. The other two guys that I have seen at the aquarium area also are good people to talk to. It is very helpful that I can take a sample of my aquarium water for them to test it and get feedback on how I am maintaining the water. I will continue to visit Petco for my pet needs. read more

Prices are decent. Store is in a good location. I do buy the more expensive dog food but it's still cheaper here than it is at other places. I haven't had any problems with the staff but they can be fairly persistent in asking if you need help. Not always a bad thing though but I'm glad to see employees around to ask help from. The store is being renovated and is all torn up. They are trying to stay open but it is a mess. Tonight there was a long line at checkout and the cash registers weren't working. They weren't warning people and when they got to the line, others said they would just have to wait until they were working. Many people just dropped their merchandise and left, but the people whose dogs had just been vaccinated couldn't leave, because obviously the vaccine couldn't be returned. The idiot manager would not take cash, even exact change. Dozens of people standing there, trying to pay and leave, and the employees said they couldn't leave, until if and when the cash registers worked. What BS! Beware of this place. It is run and staffed by people who are beyond stupid. read more

Took my nervous Chihuahua mix into the Escondido CA store for a mini-makeover (a walk-in service). The grooming area is at the front of the store with large windows so you can see your pet at all times. The groomer was calm, gentle and very reassuring to my dog. I went to petco to purchase 60 crickets and one of the female blonde employees said they barley had any while the other told me that she was lying and that they have just got a shipment today. Then she came back with only 35 and when I told the worker she went back and gave me a bag of 20 dead ones and 5 live ones. I didn't realise they were almost all dead till I drove off and not only were they dead she tied the bag so tight with a rubber band to make sure u couldn't open it with out scissors. I'm very disappointed I wish I could've gotten her name. Absolutely horrible costumer service. The guy at the cashier was really nice and apologised for her actions and gave me a discount off my next purchase (never going again) if you ever go to petco watch out for a blonde fat lady I don't remember her name but she's horrible read more

Had them groom my little Bella. Bath, ear cleaning, nails trimmed, teeth cleaned, etc. (no cut as she doesn't need that). Took about an hour. It was Bella's first time and she seemed very happy when all was done. She smelled amazing and her fur is super soft. Easy to make an online appointment, I made it the evening prior.
