This location is MUCH smaller than the one on Cheyenne Mountain Blvd; it still has a wide variety of pet foods, but not the massive selection and stock of the aforementioned store. The store was a little disorganized and the entryway was a little awkwardly laid out and dirty. They have a very small selection of fish but a surprisingly large number of betta fish, I assume because of the low traffic, so if you're looking for a betta check this place out(!!) and a tiny selection of fish foods. Their small animal supply section was very limited. If you're looking for something for your mice, gerbils, rats, ferrets, birds, etc. then you'd probably be better off looking in a different store. They have the basics in food, bedding, treats, and what have you, so if you just need to pick up a quick something like bedding you'd probably be alright. I wouldn't make this store my go-to for these animals though. The cat food selection focused mostly on your conventional national brands, but they did have a good selection of grain-free offerings in wet and dry foods. This store focused more on dog foods and products than anything else though. They had a complete half aisle for wet cat foods (one side) and a complete half aisle for litter and litter boxes. The dog food section had an aisle completely dedicated to holistic, grain-free, and other specialty foods and another of "regular" dog foods. They were a little lacking in the small breed, puppy, and small breed puppy foods though, but I was able to find a grain-free small breed puppy food (only one). There were a ton of toys, treats, beds, grooming supplies, etc. The staff was very friendly and helpful. That is always a great plus! read more

The staff really knows their fish. They noticed some possible Ick on one of the fish so she wouldn't sell it to us. Was going to treat them and hold off on sales from that aquarium. We asked if the water filtration system was for all tanks. Yes, but there is double filtration system so the ones we bought should be ok. We bought Ick treatment stuff just in case. So far, so good. read more

I went into the petco on Lake ave in Colorado Springs a couple days ago and I am disgusted with the service I received. I sat there staring at the fish chemicals for a good 20 minutes trying to figure out what I needed. there was an older woman that appeared to be a manager stocking.i was going to pay for a full test kit when she finally asked if I needed help. I didn't think I did but I really did lol. Any way I explained to her that I had a 10 gal tank at home that I started because I was growing lotus, needless to say a couple lotus turned into about 4 other type of water plants, so now I thought well shoot I may as well add a few fish. I was looking at getting a betta or two but I did not know what chemicals I would need. According to the place I got my plants all I needed for them was food and iron at some point. Therefore I had questions about having fish chemical. This lady walked me over to the betta section and just said these are all the same and here's what they have and walked away. I sat there trying to figure out what I needed for another 20-30 minutes and looking at the betta fish to figure out which I wanted. I had asked her what other fish I could put with a betta and she snickered at me. Now I have not had a fish tank in over 20 years so I was overwhelmed try to get the right chemicals and fish. Needless to say she had vanished after showing me the shelf of chemicals. I stood there watching the fish and looking at the products for now over an hour. I asked for assistance a few times from the cashier yet no one ever showed up. this lady was so unprofessional by never really helping. I went to petsmart today and asked the same question to another person and I was provided so much info. I was able to get my hands on bacteria and a PH kit that they need. She took the time I needed to help me keep a good tank . PetSmart staff is way more helpful and pleasant than petco. read more

I do not recommend this specific location... I have ordered pick ups from this location on multiple occasions, and the orders are canceled due to being out of stock of an item that they have listed online as in stock. Today I came by against better judgment because it's right next to my favorite King Soopers. I had just come from work and realized that I had to use the restroom and they have no public bathroom. It is constantly one thing after another... I've ordered pick up and it says it'll be ready when the shop opens and I get there and they haven't even started doing pick up orders and it took another 2 1/2 hours and when I walked in there are people just standing around chatting. Frustrating to say the least. Go to another location and save yourself the stress. read more

Absurd. They'll give 30% off AND deliver a purchase SAME DAY for free if ordered online but won't sell it for 30% off if I'm in the store. Told me I'd have to order it and wait up to two hours for them to pull stock - it was in my hand . Sure, rules are rules . So, two stars for stupid rules . read more

We took our puppy on 2/12/2022 at1820a West Uintah Street (Sophie, groomer); the groomer did an excellent job. She listened to my concerns and informed me on how she would cut my Maltipoo's hair. She is very caring in taking care of people's pets. She cares about doing the best job possible for customers and their pet. She is very professional. My wife and I would give her 10 stars if possible. read more

I am quite frustrated after attempting to take my dog to the Petco on Uintah for grooming. I arrived with appropriate paperwork, on time, only to be turned away for having given my dog medication to calm her before her appointment. I have been to many groomers before who requested that if your dog was anxious, to give them medication to calm them (my dog is not aggressive, just nervous). However, this place sends you away because your dog might 'come out of it' during their cut as if it was anesthesia. REDICULOUS. Plus, it was dirty in there. While I am very angry that I rearranged my work day for the appointment, maybe it was a blessing in disguise. NEVER going here again. I should've known better. read more

Just tried to return a dog crate that did not work, size was too small. Store is refusing all returns currently supposedly due to COViD. Costco and other large retailers are accepting returns. There's no scientific evidence to suggest that this would be a risky endeavor, taking a cardboard box, pet food or related products. Then to top it off the employee/asst mngr made a nonsensical political comment, "might be 100 days since that's how long Biden wants us to wear masks." Though I've been a customer for many years, I will make sure to avoid Petco in the future. read more

The groomers did absolutely fantastic! Brittany is always amazing to my dogs and I know they're in good hands. The Younger girl was very delightful on the phone. I will continue to come back as my pups always look great, and are happy to see them. read more

If I could give a 0-star rating, I would... My cashier was Thomas, and he was the most disrespectful cashier I have had at Petco. He was blatantly sexist towards me, and it was incredibly obvious considering that the gentlemen in front of me received better treatment. I was cashing out with my credit card, and it wouldn't allow me to bypass the 'PIN' screen, nor would it allow me to choose between Credit or Debit (the option didn't even pop up). The cashier stated that it was between me and my bank, assuming that I didn't have any money on the card. I continued to try and explain my issue to him, but was mocked in an undermining tone, with repetitive statements of "I told you that wasn't going to work," when I tried to test the machine again. Then I asked for my receipt, and instead of receiving a sure or yes, I was met with "you gotta wait for it to print! See? Look, you just had to wait for it to print." In a disrespectful, childish tone. I wasn't told to 'have a nice day' or 'thank you for shopping', like he had told the customers before us. Nor had I had a pleasant experience. I would highly recommend giving Thomas more training on respecting people, no matter their gender. -- This review is meant for the West Uintah Street Petco in Manitou Springs. read more

I brought my dog to the groomers here and the ladies at the front seemed very nice . I liked the cut and they filed his nails just the way I wanted. The only issue is that my dog seemed very upset when I picked him up. He is a very fun energetic and loving dog and he seemed as though he was maybe handled a little rough while being groomed. I will not be returning simply for the fact that my dog didn't like it there. I'm not sure if they hurt him or maybe snagged a nail but when I picked him up he was not the same dog I left them with. read more

Not knowing how taboo buying any animal from a large chain store was, I bought a chameleon from this location. I was given a bunch of incorrect directions in terms of taking care of my new pet, which was was easily solved once I talked to an actual reptile breeder. The chameleon showed signs of an upper respiratory infection upon bringing her home, I called the store to ask if they had medication or someone on staff that could help. I was told if the animal died in the first 30days that I could receive a new one. I spent $500 changing the enclosure, vet visit, meds, etc. It's now been 1 week since the "30day" mark and the chameleon has gotten worse. I called the store for help/vet recommendations but was told that the only help they could give was 20petco points if I signed up for the loyalty program. Very callous, and short when I said that the vet they recommended was closed today. "Sir that's all I can do for you". DONT BUY FROM THIS PLACE. Go somewhere that genuinely cares about the animals they are selling. read more

I dropped off our dog to get a basic wash/groom.. Little did we know we were paying for much more than the basic. My dog started scratching shortly afterwards much more than normal. My wife called PetCO to ask about the itching and their suggestion and response was "Well you got the basic wash"..."Get a nicer wash next time"?! A few days later we discovered fleas on our dog (which she has never had once in here 6 year life) PETCO should state "Basic Wash-Comes with Fleas and further grooming and pet bills". We now had to get a flea bath and separate medicine for our dog... thanks to the "basic wash" WE WILL NEVER GO BACK! read more

I believe the pictures for this location come from the corporate website because it looks NOTHING like what is portrayed here. Usually the staff is friendly, despite the dark if not run down atmosphere. I will never use the pet wash again though, it was mostly a ramshackle storage room. read more

This place was horrible. I am 9months pregnant and the cashier today was not wearing his mask, but yet told me to have mine covering my nose. I was more than 6ft away from anyone and needed to breathe. Being 9 months pregnant makes it difficult to breathe sometimes! The cashier was extremely rude and did not sanitize or anything. Was very rude to my sister when her card was declined for no reason. Gave dirty looks and told me that if I didn't wear my mask correctly I could not come back, UNACCEPTABLE! Especially since he was not even wearing a mask himself. I will never shop here again. read more

We are repeat customers of the grooming center. They have provided utmost care for two of our senior pets, one a Shelty and one a Cockapoo. Our personal groomer is Dusty! Our pets look great when we pick them up after grooming and they also seem very happy to have all the attention that comes with their new clean look. Reasonable price too. The store is nice too. Not giant, but seems to gave what we need. read more

We just adopted our first cat (have 2 dogs) I called ahead to make sure they had the food the Human Society and our new vet recommended. Very nice lady checked and they did. I headed over (Uintah location) they are close to where we live. I walked in, located the cat food, went to check out, guy was nice, good sense of humor, paid up, talked for a second about our cat and HSPPR and I was out the door and on my way. Store seemed nice to me. Will be visiting again when we need pet supplies. Convenient (by King Soopers and the Arc) well stocked, quality products. Thanks, Bill read more

We've been coming to this Petco as long as we've been keeping fish (years) and have never had a problem with previous employees. Cashier at the front rang for help with our fish purchase, we waited for probably 20 minutes, no problem, I understand we were there 45 minutes before closing. This blonde female associate, who I assume was a manager, was training a new associate with the fish section (scooping out numerous dead fish from tanks across the wall) and I let her know that I didn't want to interrupt her but when they were done if she could help us with our fish purchase. She didn't say yes or no, just asked for the size of tank we had (20 gal) and what we already had in it (5 docile 1&1/2" fish, 2 skinny 2 1/2 inch loaches and a few shrimp). Without using the words "I don't want to help you" she said "the basic rule of thumb is 1 fish per gallon and your tank is overcrowded as it is". Not only by her logic do we have a tank over twice the size of what would work for our school but as experienced fish keepers we were irritated; not just for her refusing to help but for also being as condescending as she was. We've been coming in as long as we have been due to the excellent customer service but I'm sad because we weren't able to take home three sad little fish from an overcrowded environment filled with dead mates. Will only support local fish supply stores from now on. read more

Purchased a reptile from this location, and was told upon purchase (by multiple associates) that if there is any health issues within 30 days, I can take the animal directly to a local vet. Sure enough, after a couple weeks, the animal stops eating and is looking very dehydrated. I have had years of caring for reptiles, and do plenty of research and "triage" on any issues. I am very pro-active and responsible for any animals within my care. Purchasing an animal from a big box store like this was a massive mistake in general, but I wanted to try to give it a shot. When the animal started having the issue, I took it to the vet and they immediately told me that I was supposed to bring it back to Petco, who will then take the animal to the vet for billing purposes. I call the store to confirm, since I was definitely told differently and ended up speaking with a manager. I set up the appointment at the vet for Petco, and then the manager starts asking me a few questions about the animal in a very condescending tone. After answering the questions she practically tells me the health issue is completely my fault, (saying I was keeping the temps too high, which is very untrue for this species) and directed me to a 3rd party website to check on temps. Went to the website, and big surprise -- My temps were the same as the site. This is where things take a complete turn for the worse. I brought the animal into the Petco the next morning, and wanted some information on next steps. She tells me that they will take the animal to the vet, and asked me if after the care I wanted the vet or Petco to keep an eye on the animal. I stated that we'll see when we cross that bridge, and handed the animal over. 2 hours later I get a phone call from Petco, and they tell me that "the vet decided to put the animal down, due to dehydration and 'general health issues." She then tries one final time to stick a jab into her heating theory, and I hung up. I immediately called the vet who worked wit the animal and SHE TELLS ME THAT PETCO MADE THE DECISION TO PUT THE ANIMAL DOWN, AND SHE WANTED TO ATTEMPT TO RECOVER IT AT LEAST ONE NIGHT, BUT PETCO DECLINED. Petco made no contact to ask permission, give any information before telling the vet to put the animal down. She also continues to tell me that the reasons for needing to be put down from Petco were complete BS, and they didn't even have an opportunity to do tests, or get more information. Petco not only decided to put the animal down without my consent, but the manager decided to lie out-right to me on it's decision. This is seriously disgusting behavior from a store that cares for animals, but I honestly should not of been surprised from a big box pet store like this. Avoid not only Petco, but this location specifically. Seriously unethical and unprofessional behavior, and I have true concern for the animals in their care currently. One last note about Petco in general. When I was speaking with the vet, they mentioned to me that both Petco/Pets-mart had sales on their reptiles and the vet soon saw a huge influx of these animals come in for various health issues. They ran multiple tests on these reptiles and found massive health issues including parasites, stomach issues and deformities. Don't do do like I did, and have faith in their animals/care and pay them to continue to only fill these cages with stock for sale, while they provide the most minimal care possible. read more

The staff really enjoy working with the dogs and it shows. Makes me feel really good dropping my dog off with them. My dog usually goes in for a bath and nail grinding once a month. He always comes home smelling so much better. I especially like it when he gets cologne on the way out. Makes him smell so handsome! I would recommend this place to others for grooming. read more

Full service Samoyed groom, and our boy was very knotted and dirty. Dusty did a phenomenal job, all of his knots are gone! He's so soft and smooth now, and we even picked him up in bright spirits. Would give 6 stars if I could! read more

Went in for a walk in for a nail trimming. Waited 10 minutes until someone finally showed up after asking a few other workers to send someone. Then when Brittny finally showed up she was rude. Being that I proudly have 3 furbabies in my family, I frequent Petco like its my addiction, especially this location. About 4 weeks ago we added a new puppy to our family. I brought our little guy to this petco location to use the vet for my babies shots. The Vetco was cancelled due to some harsh weather, which was fine. So I had given my name and phone number to the cashier and the promise I would return the next time the Vetco was scheduled for this location. They had informed me since I had showed up when it was cancelled that I would receive 20% off of my babies shots. Today I attempted tore turn for his shots, 2 weeks later, to find it was cancelled again. Why couldn't they have given me a call?! Very disappointed....thanks but no thanks Petco!! Ill take my business elsewhere from now on!! read more

I asked to see the ferrets and made the mistake of saying I didn't intend to buy one today. I was told by an employee that he didn't have time to help me (two employees tried to help but didn't have keys). Well, final result is: he may not have lost a $150 sale today but he did loose it in the future. And since the best ferret toy on the planet is another ferret, $300 bye-bye. Because of the ladies who tried to help me I will continue to shop there- for the little things. I don't ever want to see that guy again! Don't worry though, he's unlikely to be a bother- after all: he's busy! read more

I have a well established 30gal tank with 4 neon tetras two mollys, a pleco, 2 kuhli loaches, 3 guppys and a rainbow shark. I went into petco last week and picked up three more neon tetras to round out my tank. As I was getting the fish the girl told me about their return policy because a lot of the tetras from their new shipment were dying. I thought okay my tank is really great, if they do die ill deal with it then. What I didnt think about was that the fish could be diseased and spread it to my other fish. Now I have 4 dead neon tetras a dead molly and a dead loach, the loach and molly were a year old and the tetras were five years old. read more

My family and I bought a hamster and all the accessories a few days ago. We have been a previous owner of 2 hamsters over the years whose life span managed well so of course we thought we knew what we needed and had no questions. The gentleman, I do forget his name, that helped us made recommendations on many different accessories that we never thought of trying before. Also gave us many tips on products that work the same but cheaper. I was very satisfied with our assistance from start to finish. Thank you to the kind young man who help myself and my 3 children! I bought a Rottweiler puppy back in February of 20018 and had been using petco for all of my supplies. I made the mistake of taking my dog into the Petco Uintah Store #917 in Colorado Springs with a dog trainer from another company. I was asked to leave because I wasn't using them for training. I explained to them that I spend a lot of money at their store ( last month alone I spent $402.44 on dog food treats and toys) and was simply trying to train my dog. I was told it was petco policy and though i was was not being asked to leave, i was being told not to come back with a rival company. I will never shop at Petco again. I prefer a company that knows how to treat their customers. To top it all off Im paraplegic and their store doesn't even have a handicapped entrance. So I am granting petco their wish. I will find a new supplier for all my puppies needs, one that believes in the American way of life (competition, and freedom of choice) I i guess petco can learn to do without my $400.00 bucks a month. read more

This review is for the grooming at this Petco location. I bring my very elderly terrier mix here. I agree with another reviewer that the the area where you drop off your pet does look like a run-down storage area (and that's a generous description). However, the groomer that always takes care of my dog (shame on me for not knowing the groomer's name) is wonderful. She takes a lot of time and care with my dog, giving her frequent breaks because standing for long periods is tough on her. In the past I've been a little anxious taking my dog in for grooming other places since she's getting fragile, but not here. My girl is no beauty these days, with her bald back covered in liver spots and mouth full of brown teeth, and most people are disinclined to show her any affection. But the groomer at this PetCo location is just as sweet on her as she probably would be with a puppy. It really seems like she cares for my dog as if she were her own. As we are coming down to our final months together, having someone like that nearby that can take care of grooming needs is a a great and unexpected comfort. read more
