I had called Horton's to see if they would be willing to trim/groom my Berner, explaining in depth that he weighs approximately 120lbs and is not yet neutered. I explained that he does not like bath time but is non aggressive, and still has a lot of energy. The owner explained that this would be absolutely no problem due to them owning large dogs themselves. Long story short, I took Ranger to this facility on the day of his appointment. As a puppy, specifically not neutered and at a completely new facility he tends to want to sniff around. The owner immediately seemed dismissive and rude, shaking her head and groaning. Upon entering the building, I pointed out the cat sitting on the window sill, to which the owner stated "Keep him away from the cat." (At a DOG kennel.) Then they took Ranger to the back and the owner asked me to fill out paperwork. Within a minute the owner had brought my dog back out front. They stated "We can't groom him, he is not trained enough." And handed Ranger back to me. My frustration lies in the fact that I throughly explained that he is a large dog with lots of energy and they proceeded to still schedule him knowing this, only to refuse grooming services after all the prep and driving to the facility. Safe to say we will not be going back any time soon. I have never been treated so poorly as a customer in my life, hopefully that is not a reflection of the kennel services as well.

The last grooming experience, she attempted to express my pups' anal glands but stopped before fully expressing, stating she felt she was hurting him; we ended up having to take him to the vet afterwards. This was a service she offered, not one I requested, free of charge. Our pup came back in with "choppy" looking fur. In addition, she was unable to clip or dremel his nails but still charged full price for each of his services. Understanding he can be anxious during grooming, which was discussed with her prior to scheduling, she followed-up with a very detailed text afterwards giving me an ESTIMATE (she typed in capitals) for our next appointment that could be changed after his appointment based on his behavior. If she was uncomfortable or unable to perform the services she was offering, I would have preferred she declined grooming our pup. I felt this could have been handled in a more professional manner. Not all pups are calm when being groomed.

But I was encouraged enough that we could adjust it on future visits. So I scheduled monthly appointments for the next 6 months. When we were 15 minutes late on the next appointment Cassandra not only cancelled that appointment, but all future dates. Her excuse was that too many people stand her up. It was It's a shame that Cassandra has such a lack of any business sense. Good luck to anyone who dares to use them and try to develop an ongoing relationship.Oh NO!!
