A year ago I put my dog there for grooming and he came back with like nine cuts over his body even one between his eyes and especially between his legs, under his tail and belly. He couldn't even walk and he was in so much pain I couldn't stop crying. I can understand one mistake but so many cuts? How cruel someone needs to be. This is my baby! And anyone who has a dog knows how precious they are. I went back screaming there and crying and I spoke to the manager who apologized and guaranteed me that he fired the person who did it. Since I am a forgiving man I went back and especially because there is a veterinarian that I really appreciate her professionalism and kindness. I even gave him there for grooming again and it was perfect. BUT YESTERDAY I sent him with my boyfriend since he was itching and had some dry spots which we believed happened because we changed his food. The veterinarian agreed and we asked for a wash. JUST A WASH nothing else. After I paid around 2000 pesos there for the grooming the appointment the shampoo and the food and so on my baby came back completely in trauma with he's tail between his legs and went to hide in the corner. I turned him over and I saw that they shaved his genital area and he had a spasm in his legs because of the pain and when I took him for a walk he couldn't even walk more than a block without feeling the pain and wanted to go back home. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE I cannot see him like this and it breaks my heart that I put my trust in such unprofessional place. THE WORST PART IS THAT THEY LIED TO ME I texted them if they cut or groomed my dog in any way and why since I only ask for a wash and they texted me back that nobody touched the hair or anything. Only today after the veterinarian admitted that washing includes grooming of the genital areas which nobody asked my permission for especially since that little poor baby has skin issues. As hard as it is for me to say it DO NOT GO THERE. Especially if you want grooming. Now I need to take him to another vet to see what's going on. All he does is laying down tired, sad and in pain. If I can save one dog from going through this it would make me a happy man.

Isla Animals is an animal rescue non-profit foundation in Isla Mujeres. In Isla Mujeres there are…read moremany, many homeless animals that roam the streets in need of care; and that is where Isla Animals comes in. Isla Animals consists of volunteers who want to make a positive difference in the lives of these animals by giving them medical care, spaying / neutering, and adopting out these poor animals. The volunteers here work hard each day to take care of these poor animals and the clinic is always looking for more volunteers and donations. We visited the clinic this past year on our vacation and are going back next year for another vacation; while there we plan on giving Isla Animals a day of volunteering to pay it forward.

We dropped off MUCH needed medical supplies that we brought from home, made a donation, and stayed to play with the babies. (Side note, we saw not one but TWO stray Shar-peis in the Calonias. How weird is that?!) Anyway, grab a few supplies before you head oout, and then you'll have room in your suitcase for souvenirs on the way back!

Señalé desde el inicio que probablemente era reacción a la sutura y no me hicieron caso. Pregunté muchas veces qué tipo de sutura usaron y nunca me dieron respuesta. Pedí las fotos del procedimiento quirúrgico y tampoco me las proporcionaron... Tuve que ir a otra veterinaria para una segunda cirugía, donde me mostraron fotos de la sutura en su tejido; algo que jamás debió de suceder. Si bien, la reacción a la sutura es un problema que puede llegar a pasar en procesos post-quirurgicos. Ellos nunca se tomaron el tiempo de diagnosticar adecuadamente, a pesar de mis comentarios basados en opiniones de otros veterinarios y de investigación propia (es más: si no hubiera decidido acudir a otro veterinario, ellos me estarían citando a mas seguimientos ($$) sin tener un diagnostico certero, administrando antibioticos de larga duración sin fundamento, poniendo en riesgo y retrasando la recuperación de mi gatita). M. Lizzety A. C. y Alvaro V. M. empeoraron su condición y me hicieron perder muchísimo tiempo y dinero (2 meses perdidos y mas de $12mil pesos en gastos). Parece que son practicantes, y eso que son "profesionales con cédula". Ponen en riesgo la vida de los animales... Una experiencia abusiva e imperdonable. ¡No lleven a sus mascotas aquí. Por favor!
