Several months ago I was looking for an architect in Coral Gables for a build-out in a newly…read moreacquired office space (was just a "white box"). As Behar was the architect for the office building and at the time had their office in the building, I went to them for a consultation. We discussed the scope of work, estimated cost, time-frame, etc, and after telling them that "it all sounded good," they sent me a contract that was for over twice the price of the initial estimate. Upon asking the reason for the price difference, I was told "it is what it is, take it or leave it." Having a poor taste in my mouth, I went with a different architect. Flash forward to now... I'm nearing completion of my unit's build out, but required an answer to a life-safety question from the building's original plans. I asked the building's manager, who did not personally have the information, so he sent an email to Robert Behar (as the architect of the building) and cc'ed myself. Robert's response to my building manager, verbatim, was: "We had sent Mr. [my name] a proposal for his space, but he decided to go with a different architect instead. Therefore, I will not be able to provide you with assistance on this matter." Despite us clarifying that the question was for the building itself (as this question applies to all units in the building, not just for my unit), Robert replied that he was refusing to answer anything, as we were "wasting his time." The building manager continued his attempts to get the answer, but we are now over two weeks later and still have not yet received an answer to this question... So in summary: - Bait + Switch sales tactics - Unprofessional customer service - Spiteful over missing out on a relatively small potential contract - Unwilling to fulfill existing fiduciary duties Would strongly recommend NEVER using them.
