Wow, have they ever updated the place. They knocked down the old building a few years ago and…read morerebuilt it about 4 years ago, now. Clean, modern, and a little strange walking in here. Children's section on the main floor, along with administrative, and a spot for you if you want to buy/donate old books (Friends of Fargo Bookstore) - cheap $1/book kind of deals, and great to get rid of old textbooks and such, too. I do miss the little reading aloves in the old library, the stairs up to a hidden teen section, and the openness of the two-story open adult section of the old library, but it is good they built it up - second floor is adult and young adult sections, and a large new computer room and print stations, as well as a "teen-only" room. Lots of glass and comfort there, not sure how energy-efficient, though. Extra classrooms and reading rooms for the kids downstairs, some Indian print art displayed, and a little candy/drinks bar up front. New, yes, but I am sad I didn't get a chance to take pictures of the old place. Many a summer spent in the reading program here competing for small prizes and adding pages to the tally for our schools! All the pictures on this post are of the new library.

This is one of my favorite libraries in the F-M area, second only to the downtown Fargo one. The…read moreselection isn't the greatest, but there is fast internet access and plenty of comfy chairs to sit in. I come here at least a few times a month. If you need a quiet place for work, you might not want to come here because sound travels pretty far. Try the main library or the quiet rooms in Carlson instead. If you don't mind others talking while you're working, then you should like this library.

Attractive layout to the building…read more This library is a credit to the community, and says that West Fargo is a place that values things like learning, reading, friendliness and serving the needs of the community and not just about chasing the almighty dollar. And it appears to get good use by the people of the community as well, as there's usually a good number of people there. On the downside I wish they were open on Sundays during the summer.

They of course have their own periodical section, but any books in the system can be dropped off or picked up from here (via an order), and a few internet terminals for those who need to do a bit of a search now and then.

I went to a painting class at the Northport Library, which I don't remember ever going in before,…read moredespite going to Ace and Hornbacher's in the same mall several times a week. It's very clean with a community room that holds events on a regular basis. I even got a library card. It looks like there is a good size collection of DVDs. The card catalog is online of course. There is a very good staff here that is highly motivated, since they did sign me up for a card for the first time since I was a kid. Until I explore the collection more I can only say that there is more new stuff than there are old books.
