I'll never understand why it's so hard to find a good neurologist…read more Gables Neurology seemed promising at first, but they consistently run late and seem incompetent in general. I had a telemedicine appointment scheduled specifically for my planning period at school. They ran over an hour late, so I had to take an appointment and answer personal questions about my health and medication in front of teenage students. For the past two visits, I've told them my prescription was never sent to the pharmacy. Still nobody did. I called twice and left messages with no response. I was supposed to have an appointment today, and I was told the doctor no longer wants to take my insurance. So now I'm without a doctor and have no medicine. I could've had medicine at least if they'd done their jobs.

I saw Dr. Jaramillo for neck pain and headaches that I thought might be a disc problem. Dr…read more Jaramillo examined me very carefully and explained to me what he was checking for every step of the way. He determined it was not a disc issue but ordered a CT scan to confirm it (I think mostly to put me at ease!). After the CT, Dr. Jaramillo followed up with me and explained the results. He concluded I had muscle strains around my neck caused by postural issues and an old sports injury. He recommended a physiotherapist to help with those issues and I've been feeling great ever since. I can't recommend Dr. Jaramillo enough. He's professional, caring, and goes above and beyond to make sure the patient understands and is comfortable with every step of his process. I never write reviews but I felt I had to write something about my experience with Dr. Jaramillo to pay it forward. Great doctor. Great experience. Highly recommend.

Dr. Wolf is one of the few Ivy Leaguers I've met in this part of the world. He uses a Gamma Knife…read moreto treat Acustic Neuroma tumors and in my case it's been all great for four years. The doctor is well respected in his field and was recommended to me when this thing was diagnosed in Los Angeles. One of the well know neurosurgeons at the House Ear Institute said, "See him if you want a proper job done." Dr. Wolf uses The Gamma Knife, at his state of the art facility, which is used to treat brain tumors by administering high-intensity cobalt radiation therapy in a manner that concentrates the radiation over a small volume. A Gamma Knife typically contains 201 cobalt-60 sources of approximately 30 curies, each placed in a circular array in a heavily shielded assembly. The device aims gamma radiation through a target point in the patient's brain. The patient wears a specialized helmet that is surgically fixed to the skull, so that the brain tumor remains stationary at the target point of the gamma rays. An ablative dose of radiation is thereby sent through the tumor in one treatment session, while surrounding brain tissues are spared. Gamma Knife therapy, like all radiosurgery, uses doses of radiation to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors, delivered precisely to avoid damaging healthy brain tissue. Gamma Knife radiosurgery is able to accurately focus many beams of gamma radiation to converge on one or more tumors. Each individual beam is of relatively low intensity, so the radiation has little effect on intervening brain tissue and is concentrated only at the tumor itself. Gamma Knife radiosurgery has proven effective for patients with benign or malignant brain tumors up to 4 centimeters in size, vascular malformations such as an arteriovenous malformation (AVM), pain or other functional problems. For treatment of trigeminal neuralgia, the procedure may be used repeatedly on patients. After my treatment I recovered immediately and have progressed from a guy walking along a sidewalk and bumping into telephone poles to a tennis playing guy who never wavers. In a jiffy he cured the bloody thing. I get an MRI once a year and return for a read. Wolf is a Yale Medical School grad and that counts for a lot in my book. I once visited Yale Medical in order to deliver a check from my father's charitable foundation and was very impressed. The dean was a charmer and convinced me that the money would be spent as we had directed. (I think it's the best medical school in the country.) Their office is so pleasant and the decor is soothing. The parking is easy with a big lot directly in front. A walk of a few feet takes one to an elevator (The building has only two floors.) which opens directly in front of their door. It is nice to go to a treatment center and not have to walk a mile (UofM comes to mind.) and constantly ask directions. There was some good design and thought put into this location. After I completed my consultation, I chatted with some the friendly staff who informed me that on my next visit I can have my MRI on the first floor and then immediately be wisked to Dr. Wolf on the second; now that is convenient. Anyway, kudos for Dr. Wolf and his VERY snappy staff who are always spot on and make my visit smooth as silk. For my money the only thing lacking here is an enlarged center with more doctors whose specialty field might be brain oncology and others whit specialities as Dr. Wolf determines necessary. I was connected with a charitable foundation that gave mostly to medical and I think that with the right kind of foundation behind him Dr. Wolf could develop a major neuroscience center in Miami with world wide reputation. Dr. Wolf's center could be be a center of excellence in neuroscience and oncology that would work with new cancer treatments and he might partner with leading academic institutions around the country. It is not a very big jump when you have the talent and foresight that is his.

I'm writing this review on her behalf to maintain her privacy. She visited as many as four psychiatrist , neurologist, psychologist, etc. all in search for a cure or at least some kind of improvement in her quality of life. She tried SSRIs, vitamins, and psychotherapy without much success. After much research we stumbled into an video regarding TMS, which gave her hope. TMS is new and there are not many providers in the area of Broward, so after some research she ended up at the office of Dr Alfaro in Sunset , Miami. TMS is a blessing, the process takes six weeks, but it's worth it. She went from not enjoying life and not being able to read or concentrate to now being more positive and definitely happier. I would say she is went from 1 to 9 in a scale of 1 to 10. The road to complete mental health is complex. For us TMS was an amazing tool to a better life. I highly recommend. I also recommend that you combine it with psychotherapy , better nutrition and lots of kindness to the person going through this. I hope the person reading this finds help through either Dr Alfaro or any source. Mental illness is real and the world needs to be more aware and kind. There are many resources online and many videos regarding TMS. Special note, I chose Dr Alfaro because she is a neurologist and she has psychiatrist and psychologist as part of her staff. I found another TMS place in Broward , same machine , but I didn't feel the care given by Dr Alfaro during our first meeting. We also paid cash and her fees were affordable , compared to the fees quoted to me by other places in Fort Lauderdale. Check your insurance , some insurances cover it. Best wishes to all.

I would give this practice zero stars if I could…read more My daughter is a patient at Sunset Neurological & Psychiatry Group and was experiencing a reaction to her medication. So much so that she could not drive herself home from school. I picked her up and told her she needed to let her doctor know ASAP. My daugther called and was told someone would call her back. When they finally did, instead of showing concern about my daughter's reaction, the conversation quickly became about demanding payment. As a former OB/GYN nurse, I have personally worked in many medical practice where patients called with concerns about adverse reactions to medications. We would never make a patient feel like they had to pay simply to have their provider address a medication reaction. I understand that medical practices have fees and policies, but there is a huge difference between having a billing policy and treating a concerned parent like an inconvenience. The worst part, however, was Christina Alfaro, NP. Her attitude was rude, dismissive, condescending, and completely lacking in compassion. At one point, she actually told me: "The problem here is that you and your daughter do not communicate." Excuse me? My daughter was experiencing a reaction to medication, and THAT was the response I received from her healthcare provider? That statement was completely unnecessary and incredibly unprofessional. If you work in healthcare, you should know how to communicate with patients and their families without talking down to them or blaming them. And yes, I did call Ms. Alfaro an asshole. I was angry and frustrated after being spoken to in such a disrespectful and condescending manner. I shouldn't have used those words, but I also shouldn't have had to defend myself as a parent simply for advocating for my daughter. Bedside manner matters. Compassion matters. Communication matters. Being a healthcare provider is not just about writing prescriptions and collecting payment. Patients are human beings, and when they're experiencing a medication reaction, they deserve to be treated with concern and respect. Unfortunately, that is not the experience we had here. I would never recommend Christina Alfaro, NP, and I would not recommend this practice. There are far too many healthcare providers who understand that patients deserve both competent medical care and basic human decency.
