Really delicious, thoughtfully prepared, flavorful food, served hot and fresh!
First we were brought two small bowls of sauce (one spicy and the other slightly tangy) and a bread basket containing pieces of one of the standard Chilean-style breads, which is white, fairly dry, and flavorless. Bottles of Coke were $1500 CLP each.
The quality of the food and ingredients is excellent. We ordered the Plancha de Mariscos, which was $13900 CLP but meant for 2 people to share. The shrimp was very "meaty" and tasty, unlike other shrimp I've had in Chile, which has been sometimes flavorless and watery (vs. meaty, if that makes sense). The octopus and calamari were also fresh and high quality. The bed of vegetables (cucumber, onion, and eggplant) that the seafood was on top of were very thinly sliced, which maximized the absorption and coating of the wonderful marinade.
Service was much better than most Chilean restaurants. The server was courteous, efficient and professional. The bill came with a small error and it was quickly fixed by the owner or manager, who came over to our table unprompted, as soon as he saw us asking the waiter about it.
This is a large, spacious restaurant with a dining room layout that is very spaced out. A nicer restaurant as far as ambiance/decor by Chilean standards, and the city of Talca for that matter. Talca, to my surprise, has some higher end (and more expensive) restaurants than this, but at this price point, this is a top dining option in downtown Talca.
The location is on the edge of the downtown Talca district in a nicer quiet area, next to some hotels. Definitely recommended! read more
