When traveling abroad, one of the foods I miss the most is a good pizza. It's one of those things that nags at you when you have a craving, because you just know that most offerings are going to be half-baked attempts at authenticity or outright garbage. After all, authentic, honestly good pizza is hard enough to find even in the states, much less Northern Europe.
Enter Peppe's! Of all the pizza I've had, here and abroad, Peppe's has to be the best of them all, and the margin is not a small one. I've been getting my pizza fix while in Denmark for almost ten years at this tiny corner restaurant, and they've never disappointed me in all that time, nor anyone dining with me.
The pizza is absolutely heavenly, having all the hallmarks of a great pie -just the right thickness of the crust, not doughy but not too dry/crispy either, with ample fresh toppings and just the right amount of sauce. I've yet to find anything state side that comes even remotely close and it makes it all the more special every single time I happen to be in Denmark and get a chance to sample Peppe's offerings.
In addition to excellent pizza, they also have a variety of other foods, there's really something for everyone there, but pizza is their specialty. I must say, their half-chicken meal is savory, moist and simply mouth watering, way better than you would have ever expected from a pizza joint. Heck, it's probably better than most chicken I've had in the U.S. too. Their fries are some of the best around, especially when served with the combination of remoulade, ranch dressing and catchup (french fry trifecta!).
If you happen to be on Fyn and looking for some of the best pizza out there, you absolutely have to give this place a shot. You won't be disappointed, and it is certainly worth the trip! read more
