But, it seems that the well being of another human is beyond their ability to comprehend. It's obviously a matter of " whose got the money". Typical of this particular generation and ethnic group. Super low budget and extremely affordable (was a very quiet location and easy freeway access) BUT: grungy / gross inside the room. I did not walk barefoot in the room, nor did I put my luggage / clothing on the floor. No elevators to the second floor so be prepared to lug your stuff up concrete slab steps if you're assigned an upstairs room. The night we stayed was great! Nothing out of the ordinary! My mom has three broken ribs and a broken spine, she is struggling to keep her health in check and these places are very important for us to recover and rest, when a disabled person is this sick, and a hotel refuses to serve I take great offense, tumwater motel 6 in Washington, is a prime example of how inconsiderate people can be and while they raised question for racially biased attacks, which isn't common for us as Asians and mostly the prime race attacking us is Caucasian. I don't want to know what it was), the pillows had weird brown markings and the fridge had food crumbs and drink stains. We booked this through booking.com and have no idea how it got a 7. What a disappointment, we booked this hotel online for our trip to Boy Camp for our son's birthday, and the reviews looked pretty good. The hotel had a pool supposedly, but it was closed due to lack of maintenance and was all dirty and yucky which fitted the state of the rest of the outdoor facility where there were lots of trash, overfilled trash cans, and lots of signs of this hotel not being taken care of or upheld. The room itself was fine and clean like a Motel 6 but not as well upheld with fridge, cable tv, and that stuff, the bed was fine, but the pillows were lumpy and super uncomfortable. The number one safety tip on the sleeve for the key said to use the deadbolt on the door, ours was broken and part of it missing. There was no table in the room so we decided to use the outdoor space with tables and chairs to enjoy our dinner, but it was dirty with lots of trash on the ground. We didn't have super high expectations, but for $160 a night this place is a DUMP, and not how we had hoped to celebrate our kid's special day. Now to see what breakfast looks like, we were told it's to go, so we expect dry bagels/muffins, I hope I am wrong. So we decided to head out early and grabbed the "breakfast" bags on the way out which contained a small orange, a hard mini muffin, and a granola bar, so barely a snack for growing boys as they put it. They tried to give me a room that I know had a dead body inside. I refused to accept that room and was told to exit the property. I can not understand why.i was hot and tired and was very upset. The tv seemed not right. The channels were random. 2 channels were screen savers with no sound. The cabinet rattles as you walk by it. I would stay here again. I am on a medical stay here at the peppertree. My second day it's been all right. The staff are nice enough and the room is fairly clean. They even folded the toilet paper down like they do in five star hotel. If you have a family kids and such The pool isn't working which is a bummer. Ice machine has cold ice, and the shower has hot water. Beds aren't exactly comfortable, but what hotels have comfortable beds in the first place. This hotel is absolutely terrible. Ive never written a review on a business before but i am now. There are stains on the floors, the sheets, blankets and walls. There was garbage loose on the floor under the bed (3 soda bottles, and a bunch of food that my dog got into). There were people obviously on drugs awake all night standing on balcony outside of their rooms. I ended up leaving at 3:30am because I couldn't stay there it was neither clean or a safe place to be. Then when i was walking down the stairs on my way out one of the stairs on the staircase literally fell into pieces under my feet and i almost fell through the staircase. Terrible hotel. At first, the place looks pretty good. When I say "good", what I really mean is "renovated within the last decade". It's starting to show its age, and neglect in its care. The entire complex is built around, and faces, a large pool. Which, on the hottest day of the year so far in Portland, was inexplicably closed. The dirty sign announcing the pool closure fastened to the surrounding gate had obviously been there a long time. The pool cleaning guy was there in the morning sweeping around with his net, though. So that's something. Almost like "we could open the pool if we really wanted to, but we don't like you. Be hot." The sole vending machine has another sign announcing "accepts one dollar bills only"... and it's correct. It's broken so you can't put quarters in. None of the items has a price marked on them, making it a fun game of chance to see what you get and how much you paid for it. "We still don't like you so we won't take your money. Be thirsty." The entire complex is surrounded by a blue argon neon tube on the outside all the way around the building. It looks cool, which is a good thing because it's the only lighting in the parking lot. There was a truck parked across six spaces when I pulled in, which, it turns out, was necessary because there is no oversize truck or RV parking. I mean I think there isn't. I'm not really sure, because as I said the lighting in the parking lot sucks. Everything else is standard mid to low grade hotel fare: it's reasonably clean and the rooms are OK (does anybody use a clock radio anymore?). So I guess it's OK. As long as you don't swim, you're not thirsty, and don't drive a black car-good luck finding it in the parking lot. read more

I've left several messages, the front desk people have apologized but still no response. TODAY I called and FINALLY got a hold of a 'manager'? I made the reservation on line hotel looked cute on the site, we were traveling through so just looking for a clean place to stay. When we checked in the front desk person was nice the hotel looked like they had recently done work, it looks clean and the lobby is modern, so far so good. We get to our room and THIS is what it looks like art on the floor and drawings on the walls. I didn't take pictures of the damage in the bathroom walls. I go the front desk, and the attendant apologizes offers another room but doesn't have anything comparable, so we keep the room but ask for a discount, (it's really late and we've been on the road for hours) he says he can make note of it, but we'd have to talk to a manager the next day. That night, it was loud and noisy, the clean quiet night rest we were looking for did not happen. Then when we were checking out the next morning, I bring it up to the day staff, who tell me they'll make note if it since there's no manager on staff, and they'll email me. I've read a lot of bad things about this hotel but not all are true. The outside looks super ragged but the inside was really nice. The inside of the room was nice and clean. The shower was clean which is a must. Surprisingly they even had a nice wall mounted HDTV. I arrived a day later than I had scheduled and they changed the date for me easily and with no fuss. I recently stayed in this facility, in an handicapped room. I was shocked at the room, from the inability to get my walker passed the end of the bed to the tiny toilet, which they said meets ada standards? Highly doubt it. The desk chair had so many Spuzz! Stains my wife kept a towel over it the entire time. The bed was straight out of the marquee de Sade! A rack with old cranky springs! I had to clean the a/c filters to get it to cool properly, this is after I had asked a housekeeper to do it? Not her job she said, I can't blame her. Oh and don't expect 2 Queen beds only 1 and it is always that way, they said in a handicapped room. Lots of dust and dirt in under and around the room! You get what you pay for. Ok, it was cheap, I was tired after a long drive from San Diego, I wasn't picky. Yet, this place defied expectations and set a new low bar. I travel a lot and am generally forgiving of minor infractions. Yet I was hosted to a noisy room next to the freeway, a room smelling of sex, and a non functional TV. However, the apex of a horrible experience was when I attempted to make coffee with the room's coffee maker only to discover a coffee packet that was moldy and likely six months old. I wasn't looking for penicillin, only coffee. Overall, a very suck worthy experience. Checking out the next day, I switched to AirBnB for the rest of my stay in Portland and had a much more pleasant stay. read more

I have to admit that I didn't expect much, all to find that this is probably one of the top hotels I've stayed in around the world in terms of cleanliness. My room sparkled clean -- like the tub and tile were polished and perfect. Tub and tile problems are the hallmark of 3-star and less hotels everywhere. It actually started when the check-in person was gracious and understanding when I asked to change rooms. I was still at the front desk and hadn't been to the room yet, but for my own reasons I wanted an inside (pool) room instead of an outside room. I could tell that she had to move some other reservations around to accommodate my request, but she did it quickly while also answering two phone calls. That's good work. The room had relatively new carpet and paint (clean). Mattress was very firm. Faucets need replacing soon. I hope they will keep their fabulous furniture! I would suggest they would put just a little money into touching up the normal wear and tear furniture of this age would have on it. But very charming -- and super clean. I don't know who set the standards at this hotel, but really amazing. Thank you. Breakfast was to be expected and as advertised. I can also tell they are slowly putting resources into updating the grounds. The maintenance person brings his dog. The cleaning and maintenance staff in this place are to be applauded along with the owner. Bravo! And I mean it. Above and beyond. read more

As two women traveling alone to a dog show, we didn't feel safe and were very glad to have our dogs for protection. read more

I have seen the Pepper Tree Inn from hwy 217 since I was a kid. So the place is old and dated, but clean and easy to get to. The staff was friendly. Having the pool in a hot summer was perfect, I liked how the rooms surround the pool. Good continental breakfast. I would suggest the just ditch the work out room, as it looks like as after thought. We made reservations though Expedia, so it was a good deal and priced for the age and size. I hope they can do a remodel and up date the scratchy linens before I go to Beaverton again so that way we will go back. read more

This is a quiet, inexpensive option in Beaverton. The rooms are honestly nothing special. But. I had come to town to help my mother prepare for and recover from hip surgery. Her husband, my step-father, threw us both out of the house in a blind rage the night before, during an ice storm. The Peppertree staff found us a room immediately, on the ground floor and away from traffic so that if she needed to come "home" from the hospital to the motel, she would be able to do so. They gave us a deeply discounted rate in light of our circumstances, and were consistently kind and solicitous of her well-being. When my mother chose to return to her husband's house, the Peppertree found me a different room, with only one bed, despite being full to capacity, so that my two week stay would be as inexpensive as possible. And, when I checked out this morning, the desk clerk (the same one who was so kind that first night) said, "Happy new year. I hope it is better than this one has been." Thank you PepperTree Inn staff. If I could give you more than five stars, I would. You made an incredibly difficult, unpleasant and frightening situation a little bit better. Coming back from Salem, we stayed here at the Peppertree Inn, like Karin said, we stayed in room 101, the first thing I saw, the peephole thing had a piece of tissue pushed in it, my first thought was that maybe someone put it there because either a)they wanted more privacy, or b)the Peephole thing had a hole in it, and they were keeping out the air. Turns out a- and that is something that Housekeeping should have taking care of! Next thing I noticed, the door bolt thing (Not sure what its called, I posted a pic) was broken, it was missing the piece that was supposed to be on the door part. I made an error in the photo posted on the fridge being locked, it wasn't locked, but that's where the rattling was coming from when you walked past it, and lastly, horrible selection of channels- it looked maybe they were splitting the line, not sure but needless to say, you won't be watching much tv here when you stay, or you will be watching the same channel lol. The Swiming pool part is a nice area and if it was warmer weather would have been used more. They have a fountain in the middle of it. Overall, it's under new management, so we might give them another chance in a year or two to see if they make the needed improvements to the property. read more

What a relief to find a NICE property close to downtown that was under the $100 mark ($87 to be exact). Although the giant sign out front still identifies the property as a motel, that's where it stops being a Motel and more like an Inn. The upgrades to the rooms are very nice, although I think probably two-too-many mirrors; maybe some art would be a nicer touch. There was free tooth brush and tooth pastes along with bath soaps and shampoo/conditioners. Also included was a coffee maker with all the fixings and hair dryer with a built-in night light! Sure there are a few bumps and scratches that could use some fine tuning. And, the bathroom is a bit of a squeeze play, but the beds were comfy and I wasn't afraid to sleep between the sheets. If you select an inside or 'away' room you won't hear much freeway traffic. The breakfast room was pleasant and the selections were nice, but the boiled eggs were over-cooked and the attendant was not friendly at all. She didn't even give warning before she started putting everything away. Our shower was bi-polar with the water temperature, so be careful with that. (I did notify the desk agent upon check out regarding the water temp.) The exercise room contains equipment not designed for commercial use. Even with the minor inconveniences, I would definitely stay here again. read more

This was one of the worst motels in which I have ever stayed. My wife and I stayed here after a long day of walking around Portland, so we were too tired to notice the noisy freeway nearby. What did bother us was how dirty the room was. Our first night there we found pizza boxes and other pieces of trash from the previous guests. The second day, while we were not there, someone put in a new dresser. When we got back, the packaging peanuts from the box were left all over our room. Housekeeping did not clean anything up. The small fridge was unplugged and what used to be ice was dripping onto the floor. I would not recommend Peppertree Motel to anyone. Worse hotel experience ever! This place is absolutely as janky as you can get! Came back to the hotel after an event I was attending with my mother for her birthday to find a trailer in the parking lot with people sitting in camp chairs with a small grill cooking hot dogs,,,,their kids running all over the parking lot in the dark and some blocking the handicap parking spaces. We had to ask the kids to move to be able to park as the adults just sat there and did nothing. Then when we get out of the car noticed their plates, cups and garbage all over the curb and sidewalk....we asked one of the hotel workers if they are aware they are out there and they only respond yes they do. So for the best part ....we were awoken suddenly at 4:30AM to the sound of a lot of water hitting the floor in the bathroom. We get out of bed to go check it out and the light fixture is falling out of the ceiling, water all over the floor and the toilet. We were staying on the ground floor and obviously there was something going on from the floor above! We called the front desk and they had nothing to offer other than to say they will make a note to tell manager for when they arrive at 7:00AM and if we wanted to pack up our stuff at 4:30 in the morning half asleep we could move... We didn't want to deal with it in the middle of the night so instead called to talk to manager at 8:00AM who was extremely rude and snarky when we explained the issue and that we didn't feel safe showering in there due to not wanting to turn light on since it was falling out of the ceiling and not to mention there was water still falling from the ceiling right above the toilet so if you needed to go to the bathroom water was dripping on your head. The manager was not once apologetic but instead acted like we were making it up so said until the maintenance guy checked it out she would not do anything for us...when the maintenance guy arrived and went in the bathroom and saw the light and ceiling & tried fixing it another huge gush of water came crashing down on to the floor...he then went upstairs to the room above and verified that in fact the toilet upstairs was leaking...they had already charged my mothers card even though we had not checked out yet so you better believe I made sure they refunded her credit card. Avoid this place at all costs!!! Lots of road noise, lots of sirens all night, paper thin walls to the point you can hear people sneeze, super outdated, uncomfortable beds, very rude service, leaking ceilings and faulty light fixtures!!!! read more

It smelled so badly that it gave me a headache that didn't go away until our vacation was over. The neighboring room was someone's residence. They enjoyed leaving moldy coffee cups in the window right next to their mangey, sunbathing cat. The bathroom was seriously nasty. They said they offered breakfast but we didn't stay to find out: no WAY we would eat anything made in this dump.
