We booked the small room. The bathroom is a good size, but the room space is very small for two people. Our room had two twin beds. There is no closet and limited space to put suitcases. The room was clean. Parking is in front of the room. We added the breakfast. It had many hot options and you can order basic cooked eggs. Omelettes and fancy coffee drinks were extra. The free coffee machine made instant coffee. There is fresh fruit. You have a view of the mountains from the restaurant. There is a fireplace in the lobby and restaurant. Staff was friendly. There are no other amenities like a pool, hot tub, bbq grill, etc. read more

This was probably the most disappointing place we stayed on our NZ trip. It looks nice and the location is great, but when you have driven 5 hours to get here and arrive at 4.15pm to be told that your room is not ready was not a good start. We were offered a free drink and told that it would be ready in half an hour. After an hour had passed with no update, we discovered that the concierge lady we had dealt with had gone off duty without leaving instructions, and the replacement had no idea that we were even waiting for a room. After demanding to speak to the manager, they suddenly managed to find a room for us but were completely unapologetic for the delay. Due to a large party of Asian guests arriving at the same time (who all mysteriously had rooms available), we couldn't get a restaurant booking until 8.30pm, and even then we had to wait until after 9pm to get service. The rooms are small with little storage space. There is a lounge area and kitchen downstairs with the bedroom upstairs, but on getting our luggage up the rather small staircase there was nowhere to put it, so we ended up leaving it downstairs. Wi-Fi allowance was a mere pittance at 250MB for the duration of the stay. Barely enough to check email. I'm giving it two stars because of the views, but had it been located elsewhere it would only be worth one. read more

This hotel is literally adjacent to Lake Tepako and the view is spectacular and beautiful. If I wasn't on a tight schedule, I would have loved to just take a morning walk along the lake and just soak in sunshine and bright blue water. It is also minutes away from the Dark Sky Project for stargazing. The rooms are kind of small with two twin size beds. I loved the bathroom, which had heated floors and heated metal towel rack. There was a wifi allowance of only 250 MB for your entire stay. Luckily, I was only staying at this place for 1 day, plus I had an unlimited 10-day data plan. But seriously, I think free unlimited wifi is the norm nowadays. I mean we already get wifi in some airports, restaurants, and malls, where we are only there temporarily, but we are at a hotel overnight or even days. We ate that the Rakinui Restaurant & Bar within the Peppers Bluewater Resort and I was disappointed. There isn't much on the plate and even a steak knife couldn't cut through the meat. The desert looked good, but was super sweet. It probably would have tasted better with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. They also offer breakfast, but it wasn't good because I don't even remember what I ate. read more

Wow some people really hated this spot but we actually found it quite nice given the location and the touristy nature of Tekapo. This lodging is right on Route 8 but although we had a room right on the highway the noise wasn't a problem. We had the lower floor unit and there was a living room to the side and bedrooms above but we didn't hear any noise. So perhaps the rooms are different. The room itself had a nice deck and chairs and even on this fall day sitting out was lovely. It was also a great place to watch the sunset and the stars. The staff was friendly and polite. We did sign up for the mantra plus club so got 1GB of WiFi and two house wines which were nice. The room itself was compact but had a huge flat screen and was perfectly fine. The bed was also comfortable. The bathroom was great with heated floors and a rainforest shower. Plenty of hot water pressure too. The bed has a electric pad in it if you get really cold and the bathtub was huge. The grounds are beautiful with the various buildings separated by grasses. The breakfast buffet was about what you would expect. Hot entrees and a nice selections cereals. And it is close to the main strip with plenty of dining options. Overall a decent place to stay. read more

The room itself had tired furniture that looked like it came from a yard sale and almost no decoration to speak of. It was sterile and depressing. We spent one night at this hotel. I liked this hotel a lot. It's very new, clean and modern. Many of the rooms have a view overlooking Lake Tekapo. I liked being able to walk down to the lake from the hotel. The room itself had a big TV and a nice bathtub. The bathroom even had heated floors and a heated towel rack! I really liked this place and would definitely stay here again. The only thing I didn't like was the WiFi. They give you 250MB, which you will go through MUCH faster than you think. After a minimal amount of online time, it said I was out of data. I called the front desk and explained there was no way I used 250MB, and they gave me a code for more data, which worked well, but it shouldn't have been a problem in the first place. read more

I wish we could've stayed longer at this beautiful resort! The location is great - right across from the lake, the grocery store, the park, the cafes, and all the great gift shops and sight seeing the town has to offer. The two-room suite we had was large and had everything you could ask for, including a gas fireplace in the living room, separate heating/cooling in each bedroom, and an extra large soaking jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The resort had an on-site bar and restaurant where we enjoyed a breakfast buffet before checking out in the morning. TIP: looks like they let large tour groups in for the buffet - beware! GET IN LINE AHEAD OF THEM OR THEY WILL CLEAN OUT THE BUFFET BEFORE YOU GET ANYTHING! You may end up having to wait an extra half hour for more food to come out of the kitchen, delaying your sightseeing. This was, without question, the worst place we stayed on our honeymoon. And we stayed in some pretty questionable places. Do not be fooled by the high end look of Peppers on the outside, it's a quickly and cheaply built set of buildings that, at a cursory glance, does a good job of covering up the shortcomings of this place. I've got a lot to cover, so I'll break this into two categories. Every concern listed below was voiced at least once (sometimes more) to the staff. In some instances we were literally laughed at (for example when I told them, for the second time, about the rock in my food). The staff is seemingly not trained on how to deal with situations like this. _____________ **Facilities: Let's start with our comically small room. There was about 2 ft of clearance at the foot of the bed with probably 2.5 feet on either side, that was the entire room. A blanket had fallen off of the corner of the bed, and my wife and I couldn't open the door to the room because it was blocking the way. The walls must be made of eggshells. The entire room shook when the neighboring room closed their door. During the day, it sounded like someone above us was moving furniture or sumo wrestling, and it sounded like there was construction next door. When we arrived there were no towels in the room. Not a huge deal, but given the rest of the experience, it's worth noting. The room had one garbage receptacle, a very tiny one in the bathroom. By the end of our stay the countertop was covered in garbage because we didn't have anywhere else to put it. The Wi-Fi for guests is limited to 250mb for your entire stay, across all users. This does not scale with the number of days you stay at Peppers. If you stay one day, you get 250mb, if you stay 4 days, you get 250mb. When I went to ask about this, I was prompted to join their rewards program to get 1000mb, which seemed nice. But it also doesn't scale, so it's subject to the same issues. _____________ **Service/Food: There was literally a rock in my food. I'm not sure this needs more explaining. I took a bite of muesli, and bit down (softly, thankfully) on a rock about the size of a large pea. When I brought the rock to an employee and told her what happened, she kind of laughed, mumbled something, took the rock, and walked away. It was not addressed by anyone on the staff again. The food at the "hot" breakfast buffet was cold. There wasn't, from what we could tell, any sort of concierge. When we asked for recommendations, we were given incorrect and incomplete information (it was about helicopter tours), and then sent to a visitor information center downtown. When we got there, it wasn't a comprehensive info center, but instead it was a storefront for a single business that also happened to have a few fliers for other things to do in town. We were there over New Years, and we went to the bar on New Years Eve and ordered a glass of champagne, which was totally flat. read more

Great resort On SH8 as you leave Lake Tekapo Sits up on the hill, great view of the lake. It is right across the road form the hot spring and the town center. Very convenient. There are a few different size rooms, from studio type to 2 bedroom apartments. We got a 2 bedroom apartment with two double rooms downstairs and a huge living room upstairs. New and decent kitchen appliance. Things that you can actually cook with. Heat pump in each room. There is also a in house kitchen. We came here for a wedding reception a year ago, and thought the food was pretty good. The only complaint I have is that they dont have free internet. It is a little behind the time to not provide free internet given the price tag to stay here. read more

The window views are amazing as long as you have a room facing the lake! We were greatly disappointed as our room was in the 400 block of buildings in the back with the large windows literally facing the parking lot (who designed this?!). We arrived a little after the 2pm check in time and was told our room wasn't ready as they seem to have staffing issues. However, I'm now reading reviews dating back to 2019 with the same "your room is not ready" being told. So basically, great location if you have an unobstructed view of the lake and plan to either check in later than 2pm or be ready to wait for your room. On the plus side, they did have free laundry facilities (2 small washers and dryers) with detergent (though the machine surfaces could use a good wipe down, and two dry cycles still didn't dry our clothes). Also, we walked by bags of hotel linens left outside some rooms our entire two night stay which wasn't great to see (sounds like others had a similar experience). The bathroom was nice, large tub, separate very large shower, and heated towel rack. The property itself sits at a nice location, across from grocery store, restaurants and main shops. read more

This Resort is just awful...!!!!! The staff was terrible and rude.... tried to order room service but they were " too busy" and would be at least be 1 1/2 to 2 hours before they could take our order...!!!! There was absolutely no sound proofing between the rooms and it sounded like elephants were located above us!!!! I would not recommend this to my worst enemy.... terribly overpriced and way too full of themselves..... Go away elsewhere and save yourself the heartache!!!! read more
