One needs to be careful when dealing with the North Little Rock/Morgan-Maumelle Peppermint Hippo location, right off of Interstate 40.
They have some beautiful women working here, and you will probably be alright if you don't drink too, too much and throw dollars or fives to the girls dancing on the main stage.
As far as the not drinking too much goes, I would recommend going to the bar to order your drink so you can watch the bartender make your drink. Because there have been times at this club where I thought the bartender or waitress spiked my drink with something extra besides what I ordered because I became much more drunk or drugged-out than I should have been.
Also, don't let dancers who sit at your table with you talk you into buying shots for yourself, and one, two, or three dancers (however many are sitting with you). They will usually be trying to get you to buy shots for everyone of a drink you're not familiar with. And they'll want you to drink the same thing, so everyone is drinking the same drink (like that's some requirement or something). And I really also have a strong feeling that they end up serving you (the customer) something really, really strong while the dancers drink an un-spiked Koolaid that's merely the same color as what the customer is drinking. It's often, after these shots, that they will begin working on you to get a private dance in the Champagne Room.
In fact, one time when this dancer and waitress were playing "the shots game" with me, the dancer said, she and I should both slam down two shots apiece. I agreed and ordered the shots, but being somewhat suspicious of what I stated above, I told both the dancer and the waitress who was still there, delivering the drinks, that I was sure my shots were something powerful, and the dancer's shots were just 'colored water', and I said, if it wasn't so, the dancer should drink my shots, and I would drink the dancer's shots. Though they were trying to play it cool, and the dancer and the waitress both shot glances at each other. The dancer seemed panicked at the idea of drinking the shots intended for me. And the waitress gave her this kind of slight shrug and a "you've got to take one for the team" glance; and this dancer was obviously very drunk after she drank the shots that had been intended for me. In fact, she was much better company than she had been before drinking my shots, LOL!
I strongly recommend passing on getting a private dance/lap dance in the Champagne Room. The Champagne Room is where they really turn into scam artists who are dangerous to your bank accounts.
After you've paid hundreds to get the private dance, the waitress/bottle girl will invade your private dance area, demanding that you buy a bottle of Champagne. They kept referring to it as the Champagne Room but I thought that was just a name for the area, and not some kind of requirement to be back in the room; but now, they're telling me it is! Ugh!!! The first bottle of Champagne they offer you will be incredibly expensive, and the dancer will be claiming it's her favorite and she's going to drink a glass or two with you. And she'll kind of say it in a way that implies that she might dance a little wilder during the private dance after drinking the Champagne. If you decline on the price of the first bottle of Champagne, the second type of Champagne quoted will still be more expensive than the price you paid for the private dance?!?!
I think they pick the start of the private dance for the waitress to invade your private dance because most of the customers are lonely men who are a little bit desperate for some female companionship, and are just ready to get on with the dance. And also if you've drank too much, as I have a few times, they will get your card and ID to pay for the bottle. And once they get your card and ID, and make off with it for a while, they'll have charged you $5000.00 or $10,000 when all you believed you were spending was maybe $250.00 or $600.00.
And while I've run into some deception and corruption here, I'm not convinced that everyone who works here is involved or knows about it to the same degree. Some of the bouncers seem like really good guys who maybe don't know this is happening. I suspect the waitress/bottle girls are in on the whole scam because they seem to be the "point person" in getting your bank card and your I.D. Management is likely in on it or they might question why some of the charges are so large. I even think some of the dancers probably know they are helping to scam you out of money but may not know just how large of an amount they are helping to scam you out of.
At any rate, after getting scammed like this three times (I know; I'm stupid; I'm too slow of a learner), I'm not inclined to go back. read more
