I had a large lag screw in the tire of my wife's vehicle. I called pep boys at 6:45pm (just after my wife made it home from work), after being turned away from another tire store because it was too late in the day. My wife drives into the city 30 miles, and needed the repair for her morning commute. They were glad to help us out, despite they were very busy and it was late in the day. I'm very thankful for the staff at pep boys mall of Georgia. I hated to bug them this late in the day, but they were happy to help, and went above and beyond. read more

My car broke down Thursday (11/03/16) due to the car starter. I paid $523.61 to have it fixed. The part is on $200.00 and the rest is "labor fee". It took about 2-3 hrs to have it fixed. On the same day I took my car to a car wash and found DUCK TAPE in my car. When I picked up my car from Pep Boys, no body had told me about the duck tape. I took my car back and asking them about the duck tape. The tec (Matthew) worked on my car left for the day. Another guy took down my phone # and told me he would gave it to the manager tomorrow. I quoted "the manager should call you tomorrow (11/09/16) around 12pm" The manager did not called me; I have to call them to follow up. The manager Jose didn't know anything about it until to called them. The Manager told me, the reason Matthew put duck tape in my car because when he removed some of the parts to change my car starter. He cracked the pipe. Matter a fact, he tried to be clever using black duck tape so I would know it. #1) This is unprofessional. #2) if I didn't check my car I would not know there is duck tape. #3) You should let the car owner know the reason of putting duck tape in someone car. read more

I decided to give Pep Boys a try for servicing my car (new tires). I set an appointment online for 1:00 PM. The service manager called me to confirm the appointment. So far, so good. I arrived for my appointment 5 minutes early. After 1:20 hours (2:20 PM), I asked the associate if the service was almost finished. He said, "It looks like they've just started." Oh, OK... what?!!! I asked how much longer he thought it would be, and I was told "about 30 to 45 minutes." It in fact took another hour, before the service was complete. The total time from when I was scheduled until I was finally out the door was 2 1/2 hours. Ridiculous. Nobody voluntarily came and told me that there was any kind of delay. I had to ask. There was definitely no sense of urgency to get ANYBODY's service done in a timely fashion. One poor guy who came in after me was told they wouldn't start his service until they finished mine. So, he had to wait even longer than I. The biggest insult, frankly, was that I received an e-mail at 2:10 PM, saying my service was complete. Really? I thought it wasn't safe to drive a car with all four tires lying on the garage floor next to it. I am guessing each service center is rated on their "on-time completion" of services, so this location sends out these false e-mails within a particular "on-time" window to keep their ratings up with the corporate headquarters. Lies will lose customers. The sad thing is, the Pep Boys employees were all friendly, the price was good (Pep Boys was running a special), and the waiting area was very nice. However, spending 2 1/2 hours waiting for something that should take an hour guarantees I shall never return. read more

If it were possible to give a negative score, I believe this location would definitely receive it. Approximately a month ago (10/21/14), I had AAA tow my vehicle to this location as it would not start for some reason. This location was new and close by, so I figured it would do a good job on my vehicle and get it in working order again. They got the car started, that was fine, and I still never learned why it wouldn't start to begin with (they couldn't figure it out either). My brakes were squeaking and it definitely needed an oil change since our long drive to and from Dallas, TX, So I had them take a look at both. They highly suggested I get brand new brakes, rotors and the like, which I was on board with. The oil change was fine, but the brakes were still squeaking when they sent me home with my vehicle. $555 later,I thought nothing of it, new brakes tended to squeak for the first few days or so... But the squeaking was STILL going on over a month later. Something wasn't right. I had stopped at a Pep Boys in Marietta (11/26/14) to get my fluids topped off and coolant flushed as we were going to make a 12+ hour drive to visit family in Chicago for Thanksgiving and thought it best to have them check the brakes for me... Turns out I was charged for rotors that were NEVER replaced by mechanic Spencer Change, and was signed off by Brooke Johnson as clearly printed on my reciept. The brake pads had been replaced, but the mechanics at the #1429 location noted layers upon layers of rust upon the rotors, very well over a month's amount, and to add insult to injury noted that the bolts were not even remotely securely fastened, with them only HALF on. Location #1064 deliberately charged me for work that was NOT done, as well as put my husband and myself IN DANGER. The folks at the other location took care of this location's shortcomings free of charge, but I can assure you I will NOT be returning to this location anytime in the near future, especially when the safety of their customers are not their primary concern. Ok. This is my second review for this place. I came here again today to get the battery for my vehicle. Jose, the front counter associate, was very friendly and funny. He was able to assist me with looking for the battery and was very informative. He told me that it was free to install the battery. Since I don't have any tools at home, I figured I would take him up on the offer. The shop was a different story. These guys look like they hate their jobs. There was a short Hispanic guy in the back that was rude and didn't want to install the battery. I had a skinny black guy install it. He didn't look much different from everyone else. He was pissed that he had to take 5 minutes from his day to install a battery. He was rude and didn't even say "you're welcome" or any kind of acknowledgement when I said thanks. The customer service here is flat out awful. Every time I come in here hoping that it will be better, it is not. Today, I made am appointment, and even arrived early, but I was completely ignored for a good 10 minutes while the associate kept making phone calls and using language that only sailors should use. I was finally told that the wait would be at least 45 before they even look at my car. What is the purpose of an appointment? I have now been here almost 2 hours withoutan update. I go to the store only because it is the closest store to my house. I have been going there almost a year before the manager mentioned the Rewards Club. I join the Rewards Club and in the eight times I've been back since I've only been asked about their Rewards Club one time and that was by the manager. The people who work there are not helpful and they treat customers like we are an inconvenience. Today Susan had to cut off a conversation with another employee to help me. One of the techs came out to my car as I was leaving and asked what I needed. When I told him he had another young guy come over and fix my issue. It was super quick and with a spirit of excellence. I will NEVER go to any Pep Boys location again just because of this one location! I'm a truck driver and a woman that works overnight suppling the country with its needs during this trying times! I walk into this Pep Boys trying yo replace my tire that got blown out on my way to work last night. Upon walking in there was no one at the desk but there was a young lady on the phone that I passed. I stood there for about 5-10 minutes before I walked to the service door where 3-4 men were sitting around doing nothing looked like. One of the guys walked in Jesse and just had this irritable nonchalant don't want to be at work attitude! So I start giving him my information telling him I had a warranty for my tires with Pep Boys. This guy was so rude and disgusting! He acted as if he didn't want to be bothered with me probably because I was black at least that's what I felt like in that moment. Jesse goes outside checks my tire that's blown out and tells me he can replace but at a charge because my tire thread was low. I said cool do I need to replace all four tires because that's that I'll do. This guy so irritated n aggravated n rudely told me just give me a minute! The way that he said it n looked at me was very rude! So I told guy I wanted to speak to a manager he tells me he is the manager! Just terrible. Me and my girlfriend came to get her oil pan looked at and oil changed. We didn't get any service while standing at the register with 4 employees staring right back at us. We finally just decided to leave. She went back without me and got service. When they checked her oil they broke her dipstick and didn't tell her. The guy taped it back together and put it back in. They told her to come back for a free new one when we go to get it the guy argues with us about it being free. Worse service ever read more

I went here because their tires were priced $100 below competitors even when installed and they charged less for brakes and install of premium rotors I had bought online (every set after OEM didn't live up to expectations though none were from here). Had an appointment, got it done on schedule, though it was a slower day there. Overall no complaints, but tbh it's a business geared towards quick easy services so I probably wouldn't take a complicated issue there. Did have time to hear them talking to other customers and nothing sounded unreasonable (no crazy unneeded services). Didn't notice any scratches on my wheels but my car is old and "seasoned". The $100 install did include "TPMS" service which my car doesn't have, but the price was the $100 quoted so while it's strange it's not really something I'd make an issue of. read more

This pepboys has by far the worst service of any auto care place I've ever been to. I first went here to get an oil change and tire rotation which took about an hour and half. After we left the car was extremely shaky and didn't drive to it's full potential. I later on had a problem because I needed a new starter on my Acura back in late April. I came here only because I was living in the apartment complex behind there and needed it fixed immediately. I was told it would be $500 for a starter so of course I paid it and now here I am, 3 months later with a faulty starter or it wasn't put it correctly. They rush their jobs and just want every single penny out of you. I do NOT recommend this pep boys. They just lost a customer who's spent nearly $1000 there in a short period of time. read more

They are the most deceitful and dishonest mechanics I have ever run into. Quoted my wife a price of $250 to replace the AC discharge hose. We agreed, they ordered the part and completed the repair. Then came back and stated it would be $366. When it was questioned as to why the increase, there statement was "oh well you have to pay for the Freon and charging separately." That should have been included in the upfront costs as it does no good to replace the hose and not recharge the system. I would highly advised everyone to stay the hell away from Pep Boys. read more

DONT USE PEP BOYS! They have inexperienced techs and HORRIBLE store and regional managers and the Vice President and president arWent to this Buford location to get a tune up and to fix a valve cover gasket oil leak. While fixing my oil leak, this locations " supposedly seasoned technician" Orlando broke several hoses including the air intake hose. They taped it up and did not tell me until I looked at the car and they claimed it was already broken. After driving off my car began to make a slight sputter. They told me to ride around and see if it goes away. This sputter got worst after 2 weeks and I spoke with the regional manager who asked me to bring it to suwanee location. At this location I was told that this oil leak was not fixed by Buford but they would do it as well as the tune up correctly. Another 3 weeks later my car shut off. The regional manager "Art" was EXTREMELY rude and told me that if I got the car to Infiniti, that they would pay for the diagnostics. I payed out of my own pocket and got the car towed. Because Infiniti has stated that the oil leak from the valve cover that was not fixed caused the alternator to go bad, he did not keep his word and pay for the diagnostic. I've made complaint after complaint with corporate to no avail. Now I am without a car and contacting a lawyer. read more

Good prices on tires and easy to process your order. Just look online at your leisure and order which one you want, and then set an appointment for install. I like that there are a lot of options, from really cheap to expensive. Service was okay. I see a lot of bad comments here and I can imagine it. Although nothing super negative happened to me, i did witness some frustrated customers while i was there. It doesn't have a great customer service feel in the place, but I know cars and just needed to find a place with good prices on the tires and wasn't just trying to sell me the two tires they have in stock (I hate that). Plus my car is really old, so again it was more about price. Can't comment on any of the mechanical service, as I haven't tried it, and it doesn't sound like i should. My wife had tires installed on her 2013 Scion FR-S and discovered scratches that weren't there previously, tech says, "I don't know, you'll have to talk to my GM, Brian." -- Brian says we'll order new rims for you. The alignment was also done incorrectly. We called the next day and was told by Susan to wait for rims, then get the alignment done. I Asked if rims were ordered and she said yes. Ultimately after following up Brian says he never promised new rims, he can offer a detail specialist to hide scratches. Basically we were lied to. We were so tired of the runaround and lies, we didn't want further blemishes on our rims from a so called detailer, we wanted the alignment correct. When returning to the store the staff was rude and unapologetic. Avoid this store at all costs. Thanks Brian and area director. We'll be contacting corporate. read more

I dropped my car off with a flat tire before 2:00 pm, they told me it would be ready by 3:00 pm. I came back after that time and what a surprise they didn't touch the car, it was not even assigned to anyone, so I asked one lady there if I needed to take my car somewhere else? This place is terrible! I brought my car in for just a check engine light inspection at 9 am today! The minute I walked in with 2 other customers, the front desk clerk tells us they are short on mechanics and they have two cars left from the previous night to be worked on and that there is a wait of 3 hrs! So I decide to wait, I work during the week and have limited time and wanted to take care of the issue since I'm already here! 2 hours later, my car still in the parking lot and hadn't even been pulled in for inspection! To cut the story short, this is my first time here and will be the last. Customer service is important to any business especially the highly competitive business of car repair. I expect reasonable wait but two hours and still waiting for just diagnostics and estimate is unacceptable! Soooo if this is the last place there is left on earth to repair your car that day then by all means come in and expect to wait a long, long, long time! read more

Got 4 new tires and slighnment it took 4 hours with an appointment. Had to return later that day because car was pulling to right and had a really bad vibration. Had tires 'rebalance and was told both my tie rods were broken so they would not be able to correct. Carried my crib and had it checked and nothing was broken. Returned 2 days later and waited 2 hours to get them to align it again. The only reason I'm not giving 1 star is because of Rick in service who steeped out of his way to make sure someone was taking care of us and one of the service managers Joe who helped us. Our receipt says if you dispose of your own tires you will not be charged handling which we were and one of the managers refused to credit us back the money. I started going here because of this location was so close to my work. The only reason I gave two stars is because most of their staff are helpful and friendly. Recently, I took my car in to get the braking and suspension checked out. They told me that my car needed about $900 of work to replace the front pads/rotors and outer tie rod ends on my car. I called a NAPA shop and they quoted me $430 for the exact same work. I took a written estimate to Pep Boys and asked them to price match because an employee mentioned this policy to me and they have a sign on the service desks that they would "beat any price and give an additional 5% off." The manager refused to honor the price match. When I took my car to the other shop, the receptionist called me about two hours after I left and informed me that my tie rods were in tip-top shape and all that needed to be done were the front brakes and cleaning the shoes/drums on the rear brakes. Susan, John and Matt took excellent care of me and my neo-classic T-Bird this week. I had her worked on elsewhere and the other guy made a mess of her brakes and didn't tighten the lug nuts on the left rear. She had sheered off a bolt and I was in danger. They fixed up the errors the other guy made and looked her over. I asked for front and rear alignments, but they tested her and she was within spec, so they saved me more than $100. Color me a happy customer! I drove 600 miles yesterday with no issues. She's running perfect again. :) read more

Stated the day before I was on a tight schedule and they assured me it would be no problem. 9am cam and went, was told there was no mechanic on duty that could do the alignment and they were not sure when someone would be in. Finally I had to leave as I was running out of time. Did go over to the Firestone store located ad 3774 Hwy 20 and Fred got me right in and even gave me the discount Pep Boys was offering. Was in and out in under an hour wit ha full alignment and no appointment. With the Service I got at the Mall of Georgia Pep Boys Location (Or Lack of mostly), I don't think they will be in business very long, avoid this location at all costs. read more

Not a pleasant experience at this Pep Boys location today. I had originally scheduled an appointment early in the morning to have new tires installed on my car. An hour to an hour and a half sounds reasonable for a task like this, right? Try waiting 3 HOURS, on a day and at a time that's not very busy. I remember watching at least 14 customers complete transactions with their vehicles in the maintenance and tire division of the store AFTER I had been waiting several hours. But hey, that's ok the main reason I chose to do business with Pep Boys today was because they were running a special on tires where if you buy 3 tires you get the fourth tire free (and yes my tire qualified for this special after researching online and confirming with a store employee), right?? WRONG, after I go home and analyze my receipt I find out I did NOT get the special as advertised but rather I was charged for the fourth tire!! That was just beyond believable! Luckily, I was able to explain my situation and get a refund on the fourth tire, but I firmly believe this could have been prevented if the store personnel had analyzed my order a bit more carefully. The manager and some of the staff are friendly, but save yourself a headache and just choose to do your business elsewhere. read more
