Lovely B&B in Dresden which is family owned and run. The bed was the best we have slept in since leaving home. Breakfast has a large assortment of food. You will find English spoken here. read more

I really wanted to give this hotel 5 stars. They have excellent customer service. I found them…read moreextremely friendly and accommodating. The food in the restaurant was quite good and my room was nice. I liked the location too which is on a relatively quiet street outside of the city center. BUT...I found their wireless Internet to be frustratingly slow and, at times, barely useable. I'm not talking about downloading movies! I'm talking about accessing websites like Airbnb or VRBO--both of which I had trouble loading. I finally did access the sites after a lot of frustration but it took me a couple of hours for something which would have taken a half an hour with decent broadband. Also, I have four devices that access the Net--an iPad, a Kindle and 2 iPhones (the older one is unlocked so I can use SIM cards in Europe). In order to get online, I needed different passwords for each device which I had to go to the front desk to get. These would time out periodically, forcing me to enter them again. At first, I didn't keep track of which device used which password. They kindly issued new passwords and then I started keeping track. Suffice it to say that if fast and reliable Internet is something you need, this is NOT the place for you. Especially if you need to upload anything! The download speed was a little over 1 Megabit but the upload speed was a minuscule 0.05 Megabits! Forget about uploading your photos to the cloud (as I was hoping to do). If the Internet is not important to you I encourage to check this place out. Apart from my frustrations online, I really enjoyed my stay! Check out their "half board" option for dinner. You can get a great 3 course meal for less than $20!

Working the furnace was a little bit difficult. W-Fi was good. Location was good, it's in the "new city" and walking distance from plenty of restaurants and bars. It is still a walking distance from the old city too. It was a nice independently, owned hostel. I would return.

It's also clean and comfortable, however there were a few niggles. You don't automatically get a towel in your room, but the staff are happy to provide you with one on request, it was however closer to a tee-towel though in proportion. Furthermore, the shower in my room wasn't the best with the temperature fluctuating widely as well as the shower head spraying the water in every direction other than me which is quite impressive considering my stature which could never be described as skinny. I'd also recommend taking ear plugs as the nearby church decided to make itself known to us at 7am, which is never a welcome time after an evening of drinking. There was also some drilling being carried out near to the hotel, further impeding my sleep plans.

Tastefully decorated, delicious breakfast, a welcoming plate of chocolates in the room - couldn't ask for a more romantic stay. While off the beaten track a bit, the U-Bahn was less than a 10 minute walk and easy to get around on. The staff at check-in were helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly.

The service is 5-star and prompt. The wine they paired with our meal was delightful and bold. The outdoor patio was beautiful with the flowers and green garden area with a beautiful statue nearby of a female. The beds themselves in the attached Schloss weren't comfortable and the dog friendly room we stayed in wasn't comfortable becauee there was no air flow in May. It was stagnant and humid. We could barely sleep. I would recommend bringing a fannif you do stay. However the castle grounds are pretty and it is attached to the castle next to it within walking distance through a garden. The price is on par with the location and service. The tram is very close and was very easy to maneuver.
