Generally what you would expect from a large-scale, warehouse-like bridal gown shopping experience…read more There's a serious amount of pressure to buy (fair, as the salespeople spend a lot of focused time with you) quite expensive dresses - I was told the nicest gowns ran up to 11k EUR.
11,000.
For a dress.
A dress.
Unfortunately among the lower pricing tiers (under 2k) there was too much polyester & sparkle for my taste. To access more sophisticated designs (the "cheaper" dresses felt better suited to a prom than a wedding) and higher-quality fabrics, one's budget needs to be expanded a ridiculous degree.
Of course, this isn't completely Cecile's fault - the Wedding Industrial Complex dictates that any dress which happens to be a certain shade of ivory should be sold for 10-20x what it's actually worth. With this in mind, Cecile's has the largest selection in this area and is a good place to get started with your search, to figure out what silhouettes, fabrics and styles suit you.
In this way Cecile's suited my purpose, and I'd recommend it to friends with a few caveats: we waited 30 minutes to be served even with an appointment, the location is not easily reached from central Munich without a car, and the quality to price ratio of the gowns is predictably outrageous.
