Aimed at members of the public, businesses and fellow designers, the festival showcases Welsh design by turning the spotlight on a wide range of areas within the sector, hosting talks, exhibitions and even drawing workshops where you can turn up and try out your own design and drawing skills with Cardiff School of Art & Design, and Cardiff Open Art School tutor and artist Christopher Holloway. Events take place in various venues, so you need to check out the website's events page to find out more - for example the drawing workshop mentioned above takes place in a unit within Morgan Arcade, just opposite Neal's Yard Remedies, while other events take place at the art college. Held every October it showcases 'The Best of Welsh Design', which really is more diverse than you might think! There's also a programme of design related events curated with the intention of educating and informing, as well as to inspire and perhaps even provoke. In addition there's also a series of talks, alongside the exhibitions and events. These run from 1st to 16th October. Don't miss it, especially if you are looking for that wow factor for your home!

Sponsored by Admiral, the Weekend is an annual three day festival based in the heart of the city, completely swallowing up the civic centre and the museum area with its fairground rides, games stalls and massive stage. Every year, the festival puts on three nights of gigs from a selection of local talent, old stalwarts (such as this year's fantastic Chaka Demus and The Pliers) and major contemporary bands such as The Zutons or Athelete, all for free. The atmosphere is always loud, lairy and happy with most people being there just to have a good time. There are the occasional problems amongst the teenage crowd, loaded up on adrenaline and this can put a damper on small pockets of the area, but nothing that isn't resolved quickly. Everyone's too busy thinking of what to do next to stay mad for long.

But despite this, if you go along with the right attitude (slightly crazed) and the right group of people (slightly crazed), then you're guaranteed a night you'll remember. This Castle Bingo in Bridgend has recently had a refurbishment, so is one of the nicer and more high-tech of this chain of bingo halls. It's just a couple of minutes from the town centre, and so is very easily accessible to all.

Small in scale but big on ideas, the musical policy is on the laidback side, DJs spinning sounds spanning Brazilian, funk, reggae and Afrobeat music, plus live performers dealing in whimsical folk, indie-rock and audio-visual sets. The atmosphere is similarly tranquil - midway between hippy jam and refined middle-class relaxation - albeit sporadically interrupted by its location directly under the flightpath of the nearby airport. It proves weirdly hypnotic, however, as everything from light planes to international commercial aircraft approach to land at regular interviews. You may not be so impressed should your mornings involve sleeping off the previous night's excesses, of course; compensation is a stunning sea view beyond the festival's fences. The drinks are heavy on local brewers, commendably reasonably priced for a festival (ordinarily carte blanche to charge extortionate money for generic drainwater), and the food, while not such fantastic value for money, is hearty with good vegetarian options. If you don't drive, the trip is only a minor inconvenience, less than 30 minutes walk from bus and rail links. Here's hoping Watusi becomes an annual fixture.

It's the largest city in Wales and one which I have mixed feelings about. Go down on Caroline St and give the Curry Chicken a try, and decide for yourself. Also grab a Clark's Pie. But this review is specifically about the stadium. First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - I went to this place in 2011 and 2014 and both times, as much as the Cardiff City fans can be a little leery and scary, it's an absolute palace of a stadium. Brilliant intense state of the art new place that helped launch Cardiff to the Prem for the first time and is a credit to the city and club. Not even a big fan of Cardiff City but this is one of the better stadiums in the country and they did a brilliant job with it. I'll be going back here in 2016 I am sure. I've been to most UK & US stadiums, due to lifelong obsessions with travel, sport & especially footy (soccer to Americans). Born & raised in England, I followed Oxford United (hometown team) to stadia all over the country at away games, and later Liverpool (fave team) around. Every stadium review - like all my reviews - are from first-hand personal experience, usually from several visits. In 2011, I was on music tour in the UK, and visited most stadiums for fun in my spare time. As recently as Fall 2014, when I was "stuck" in UK for 3 months, I went to hundreds yet again while travelling. I have pictures of me at most, which I'll post later. Also, when back in UK I'll take more pix, and add more stadia! *** return to regular review *** All bias aside, you have to say Vincent Tan really, really delivered here. This is utterly amazing. This is one of the best stadiums in the entire country, and I don't just mean Wales, I mean the UK. The atmosphere is intense, the stadium is beautiful inside and out, modern, it's perfect for any football club. It holds 33k people and only cost 48 mil which is not a lot compared to other beautiful stadiums. Wales have played a few home games here and the Stereophonics have played concerts here, but the fans were just looking, not buying tickets. The media liked the gigs a lot, especially this one guy that I call Mr. Writer.

It would make for an excellent venue with clean toilets and a fantastic view of the football pitch. If you were deciding on booking a place for a business conference I would highly suggest it. ~ Location: As mentioned before its location is great. A short walk form a railway station and nearby is a shopping strip with standard department stores and restaurants. --- A great stadium near the centre of Cardiff that would be fantastic for watching a game or using it as a venue!
