We were driving from Port Arthur back to Hobart late one day and didn't feel like dealing with the touristy throngs in downtown Hobart but did want a high quality fish dinner. We stopped at the Sorell Cellarbrations for some wine. Staff recommended the Pembroke Bistro next door and called to check on the Catch of the Day - Blue Eye Trevalla, a local specialty. We each ordered it pan fried, per the chef's recommendation. The white, flakey fish was cooked perfectly. We ordered the chili prawns as an entree, again cooked perfectly with a spicy, creamy sauce, rice and a bit of coleslaw on a salad. It was also BYO wine. We arrived shortly before 6:00. Shortly after, the place was packed with locals. We were too full for dessert but they looked beautiful. Check out their dozens of award-winning schnitzel variations, too. The portion looked huge. read more
