There is a reference library on the first floor, although I haven't visited that part of the library. The books are available to search and reserve on the council website but this doesn't seem to be very well publicised. There is a free car park behind the library and a lift up to the ground floor (it's located in a hilly part of town!).

However the new Swansea Central library compensates for losing it's listed building by a great expansion, amazing situation in County Hall(I'm now jealous of people working with that view!!) overlooking the sweep of Swansea Bay and the opportunity of books, cds, dvds in a far more comfy set up. Now the danger is in too much distraction when doing some study at the library, the view and opportunity of also having lunch and tea in the cafe next door!

Excellent for anyone wanting somewhere quiet to get on with some work. Excellent views over the bay. The new bendy-bus service provides regular buses to the library from anywhere in Swansea city centre.

Small with not alot to see, but you can pick up a read here if you are not after something…read morespecific. That said you can order in from the other libraries. Easily found and worth a look.

Ammanford library on Wind street in Ammanford is a relatively new addition to the centre of town…read more It does mean that the library has all the mod cons, and an excellent range of books. Staff are helpful and dont have any problem directing you to the right area (despite probably having been asked the same question countless times) There isnt any parking close to the library which can make it a little difficult but all round it is a much better facility much needed in the Ammanford area

The new library in Ammanford is right in the centre of town just by the traffic lights. It boasts…read moremuch better facilities than the old library and is a welcome addition to the town. As its right in the centre of town there is no parking, the closest place to park is in the co-op pay and display and walk down through the arcade. Staff here are polite and helpful and always willing to show you were books are if you cant find them. The library has internet access and also has a range of cd's and dvds for you to borrow.
