Heard that Pekoe opened up another location on the East Coast so you know I definitely had to check it out! I have tried their MGM location before, but hate going out in that direction; so I was super excited to hear they finally opened their Fairfax location. Their Grand Opening was a little over 2 weeks ago and was super cute to attend- They had Chinese dancing lions, and 'baby' lions dancing as well. The Chinese Lions performed their traditional ritual to bring good luck and happiness and business prosperity. They also had these big (fake) milk tea cups, and had the lions drinking from them, it was adorable!! Okay on to the drinks, service and ambiance. TIP: Their drinks are pretty sweet, so definitely ask for 75% or 50% depending on your preference! TIP: If you can't decide between 2 fruit teas or milk teas, they offer split cup! I was greeted warmly when I entered and the team insisted that I try the samples to better understand the flavors and sweetness levels. The menu is sassy and extensive but I wish it provided more details regarding ingredients (type of tea at a minimum). I ordered my drinks at 50% sweetness and it was still very sweet. The pretty in pink drink tasted like jasmine strawberry milk. The oolong is bitter but might be perfect for some. The jolly rancher is nothing special and doesn't quite capture the candy's flavor. My sorority sister and I tried this new place that recently opened up by GMU. There is ample parking space and they had buy one get one free for their grand opening! My friend and I got the Manly Melon and TMT. Our first thoughts were this location is beautiful decorated! It's like a cool nightclub looking scene with beautiful lighting, cool seats and pretty decorations as well as really awesome and fun music. The service was super kind and they were doing so well under pressure because there was a lot of people that the line went out the door! The TMT: this is a great drink if you don't like very sweet drinks. Even on 100% sweetness it's not that sweet because of the jasmine tea. I would change the honey black pearls to be a little more consistent because some were a bit too squishy, overall I'd give it a 8/10. The Manly Melon: really enjoyed this drink and the fruity ness of this drink. My friend tried it and said he wished the aloe Vera was a little more firm but that he enjoyed the drink. I would consider the other contenders to be TeaDM and t.zone; but admittedly I do not drink bubble tea that much these days so I may perhaps not be a definitive authority. From the MGM National Harbor location and here, this location is so much closer to my house and I'm glad to have so many bubble tea options near me now. Location is off a busy road during peak hours, but it doesn't have much parking. The place itself is cute, reminds me of a club slash hookah lounge. It is pretty spacious. Would be dope to add hookah. Now...menu is alright. I get scared to try new boba places cause I absolutely LOVE boba, but not for artificial tastes. I personally cannot stand fake fruit flavors. Cashier was not friendly, no smile and I did not like answering simple questions. I do like the split cup idea and love that I don't have to pay for full sized portions to try certain drinks. The split cup idea comes with any milk or fruit tea option. It's hard for me to finish a whole one with a single flavor so I was glad to try the pretty in pink and Thai tea whitties. The names are absolutely adorable. I don't like my drinks to be super sweet so I was able to cut the percentage to half. Wish they had options to make the drinks dairy free or lactose free. I would love to try the menu extensively but cannot bare too much dairy as I am lactose intolerant. The drink took way too long for only 1 person ahead of me. Almost a 15 minute wait and everyone in there already had their drinks. Also like to see my drinks being made cause I'm iffy about it... but eh whatever. After 15 minutes of waiting the cashier almost gave my drink to the people behind me in there cup holder I had to stop him and had him double check...i was like how did I just wait 15 minutes for one drink and the couple behind me ordered 3 and got there's before me. Need to be more aware and attitude check, he didn't even apologize just kind of shoved it to the side. Lost a star for the service. Taste? I LOVED IT, FOR $8 AND SOME CHANGE. the flavors were great. Food - 3 I went again and got the "I'm in love with the coconut" slush, no coconut shavings, added mango star jellies. It's got a solid coconut flavor, but was more on the milky side (not slushie), and definitely too sweet. It bums me out you cannot adjust the sweetness for a lot of their slushie drink. I mentioned this aspect before, but considering I tried another drink that I felt could maybe taste less sweet, yet wasn't, I'm a little disappointed in that. I don't think I could return again unless I tried one of their other drinks with low (50% is the minimum which is a little high too), but my daughter got one of the juice teas with 0% sweetness and she said it tasted like nothing, no juice flavor at all. It just tasted like tea. What's the point of getting a drink there at all if you don't want something sweet, if all their fruit flavor is, is sugar. I thought the drink I got here was alright. I ordered the "Honey, dew u luv me" slush with boba. The drink kind of tastes like the Korean honeydew melon bar, which I really like, so I thought the drink tasted pretty good. However, the last time I went, the drink was way too icy and had chunks of ice in it, which I did not like. I think the other time I had it, the slush was blended much better. It was also a little too sweet this most recent time, but the boba had great texture. The boba wasn't too soft, and had a nice chew. I thought there was a good selection of boba flavors, including milk teas, fruit teas, and slushes. I love the names of their drinks, and they are very creative. The service was good. The lady taking our order seemed happy to answer any questions we had. However, the most recent time I went, the boba took a while to come out. I didn't love the ambiance of the place, and it isn't really the vibe I look for in a boba shop. But they have a great deal for the summer (buy 2 get 1 free), so I would potentially come back to pick up if I am in the mood for a honeydew slush. read more

Super cute vibes. I've been here a couple times with friends and also with my little kiddos. They have pop music videos playing on the screens and lots of seating and cute decorations, perfect for instagramming and documenting get-togethers with friends. All the drinks have such cute names and they also have sandwiches if you need a snack. My go-to has been "let that man go" and the "taro taro", cuz I love my fruit smoothies. But I also enjoyed trying both the macho Man and the Thai tea in one of their split cups which is a nice option if you want to try two flavors. Highly recommend, its kind of on its own and it's own destination since there's nothing else next to it, but I've liked it enough to get there and hang out for a little bit. Parking is available in front. Service can take a bit if there's a crowd. The operations is behind a wall which is different than most boba places that let you see what's going on, so you can't really tell how busy they are behind the scenes. read more

I had some fantastic and unique boba tea at this spot! I tried the Yung Mung-y, which has mung bean and pandan jelly in it. It was thick and delicious, with a great texture. The amount of ice was good, and the standard sweetness was spot on. I just wish the pandan flavor had been a little stronger, but overall I loved it. I also got.to sample some friend's drinks - the matcha and strawberry in particular was delicious too. The split drink concept is great, and portions are good, but I don't know that the increased cost for that is worth it. I would have liked to try the taro taro, but it was a bit too pricy ($7.50 vs. $6.50 for milk tea, which is already up there). I can't fault the quality, though, and if I'm in the area again I would definitely go back! The decorations inside are also fun - it has a big cherry blossom decoration and a nice area with cushioned seating where our group was able to hang out comfortably and chat. Are these reviews over 2 stars even real? This is one of my least favorite bubble tea places I've been to. The tea was horrible and tasted more like a wet rag. The chairs when we went sank down to the floor. Service was quite bad, and it seemed like they were all trainees without an actual trainer in sight. Tea: (1/5) chucked it after a few sips. Like I said, tasted like a wet rag. If you don't get enough sugar to mask over the taste, it is very bad. Everything tastes artificial and the quantity is very little. It is just the right amount of tea and milk balance. I also have tried the Thai Me Up and Emerald which are both also great. nothing will stand between pekoe and i. i went for the first time last week, and went everyday since. live, laugh, pekoe. i really enjoy how pekoe is in the local area for many of mutuals and i now, as well as they offer the split cup. very innovative and helps us indecisive people. the first time i visited, i got the pink lady (my favorite) and matcha. the matcha was okayyy i think i prefer the fruitier teas here. the second time i was recommended to get one of the mango drinks by the cashier. no regrets, great combo :)) the furniture is really cool and modern. there's enough space for people to sit when it's not too busy. love, love this location because it's right across fairfax wawa too, haha. the names are very interesting but don't judge completely until you've tried the drinks!! read more

I was really excited to visit Pekoe, as my friends in California used to order boba from there often. Having been here twice, I've yet to have a drink that is amazing--especially with how saturated the boba market is in the area. So far, I've tried the: - JMT (Jasmine Milk Tea) with boba (100% and 50% sweetness) - Wintermelon Milk Green Tea with aloe and boba (100% sweetness) The JMT at full sweetness is not bad, but the Wintermelon is insaaaanely sweet; I had to brew more tea at home and pour it in the cup lol. I tried the JMT again recently at half sweetness, but found it to be really watery at that level. I do like the idea of being able to order two different flavors in the split cup. I might come back to try their fruit tea, but otherwise would probably opt for another brand's milk tea. read more

Personally not my favorite place. The atmosphere is amazing, played good music, love the seating. The only thing missing to make this place great is good boba. Like what others have said, the milk tea tastes weird, I got the Foxy Brown and found it to taste like coffee and even the honey boba had a strange flavor. The fruit teas are good but depending on which one you get it can be extremely sweet. For example, the Kawaii tea is crazy sweet, almost like straight sugar with a little bit of water and that's after asking for it to be half sweet. I think this place can be a 10/10 especially with the split cup concept. I think they need to fix some of the recipes and use a different type of milk and maybe look for a new way to make the boba. read more

Alas, this place was terrible. I went with several friends which, because of the split flavor option (a cool idea), meant we had seven flavors across the four of us. Two of us threw our drinks out (politely, outside) after a sip or two, one person drank one of her split sides, and one person drank half of a split side. So optimistically 1.5/7 on the flavors. I got a taro slush and it tasted like icy powdered sugar, with a strong emphasis on tasting like powder. Easily the worst bubble tea place I've been to in ages in the DC area. The drinks have fun names and the inside looks like a cross between a mob board room and a club. Totally irrelevant because the drinks were so incredibly bad. My drink was $9.49 after a 15% tip. This place is pricey for bubble tea even if my drink hadn't been undrinkably bad. read more

So happy they finally opened their Fairfax location! I've loved this place since first trying them out in San Jose, CA. When I moved over to the East Coast, I was very excited about the Maryland location but had a bad experience there. When I heard about their new location coming to Fairfax, I was stoked and had been waiting for their opening lol. I know they're still new and perfecting some things but I would definitely recommend checking them out if you're looking for a "cool club lounge spot for boba" lol. They also have split cups if you're indecisive like me and can never figure out if you want milk tea or green tea. My usual is the Pretty in Pink which is a Strawberry Milk Tea with Boba and Strawberry Heart Jellies. When I asked for less sweet, it had no flavor and was very watered down so I would just get it the way it is. My boyfriend got the TMT which is a Taro Milk Tea with Boba and Grass Jelly.
