It's the perfect place to find that stand-out but classy dress you want to wear for a work holiday party, a romantic dinner w/ your partner, &/or a night out w/ your friends. The staff is personable, efficient, & knowledgeable w/ their current fashion trends & stock. They don't keep you waiting for a room or having to drape around dresses &/or shirts on your arm, & will help free your space so you can go about your shopping. Today I met Lahi (spelled uniquely but pronounced like Laura) who was tremendous w/ her patience & personal assistance. As I am on holiday, I was not familiar w/ the brand or the sizing, but she gave me a quick background on the brand & helped me choose a few sizes. After a while, we both had a laugh as she was selecting items based on UK Sizes while I was referring to US Sizes. No matter, we got it right, and when you are hunting for a new black dress, you want one that fits exactly right. The kind that gives you confidence when you walk into a room & want to command attention that is both subtle but unforgettable. I loved how she assisted me in navigating the different sizes, going back to their stockroom several times to help me find the right fit. As I used to work in retail, I appreciate someone who actually likes the clothes they are selling & can be a good balance of giving the customer both attention and space. Even if I had walked out & decided not to buy anything at the moment, I know she would have been equally pleasant and ready to help for my next visit. I was pleased to know this was a new location & that they were offering Sydney fashion for the locals & travelers alike. Come here for a breath of fresh fashion pieces w/ reasonable prices that match the quality.

Such a lovely lady, she's helpful and friendly - it's a bit like being taken shopping by your aunt. The nice one. Worth a look, just in case.

There are two shops in the main street and they are on opposite sides facing each other. The first one has only suits and formal male attire while the other is much bigger and has both mens and women's clothing, surfwear and accessories. The prices in here can get pretty steep so you will want a big wallet. I have noticed a few more cheaper women's items sneaking in recently though so there is occasionally a few good bargains on offer. The store is always well air-conditioned and pleasant. The staff are friendly and you are guaranteed a good conversation. I tend to go in there to gawk at pretty scarves and have a little dream about one day being able to afford $80 for such a gorgeous silk accessory before I head down to one of the op shops nearby for some clothes I can definitely afford. In saying that, people who are more well off or like spending money on these things will be right at home here and the clothes are damn nice. The quality of the fabric is obvious and the items here are the kind that you will want to keep in your wardrobe forever.

I had two dresses altered here, both returned by the next afternoon and without showing a hint of the work they had done. It wasn't long before I was eyeing off the rest of my wardrobe to see what could fit a little better with some nip tuck work. The prices seem to be fairly standard for the industry, $18-$30 seems to be the standard for alterations that involve unpicking and restitching. $5.50 to fix buttons on the spot. That might seem pricey to people that can do it themselves, but if you don't want your garment to look like a dog's breakfast (I am referring to my own button sewing abilities here) then it's not too much to baulk at.

Entering this shop is not for the faint of heart, though, for those price tags might make your heart skip a few beats (reasonable for what you're buying, but can be a month's rent for the average student). Impeccably cut and stitched, from unique and luxurious fabrics, these clothes will, no doubt about it, make you feel a million dollars. One thing I wish the store would work on, however, is the window display. Walking past the storefront, you would not think it were anything other than a high-end costume shop. Stocking a truly endless selection of this much loved Aussie brand's clothes, shoes and accessories along with an awesome capsule vintage range and possibly the best selection of designer collaborations such as the recent Jonathan Saunders and Antipodium tie-ups, Sportsgirl Bourke Street is my favourite Sportsgirl store in Melbourne bar none. There's a cute little shoe lounge with mirrors and seating galore to the store's right and there's always a great range of sale stock towards the back of the shop for bargain hunting Sportsgirl fans.
